Evan Turner returning next year?
-
big_hits24What are the chances that G Evan Turner will be back next year with tOSU? If he does come back, how far can they go in the NCAA tourney? assuming they make it there...
-
I drain 3'sChances he comes back? Slim to none.
-
rugbywrestlerHe seems like the type that would come back, however, with being a projected top 5 pick and breaking his back this season I'd say he's GONE. If he would come back next year OSU would be a top 5 team all year long, imo they'd have one of the most experienced and talented teams
-
big_hits24If the juniors including Turner come back for their senior season, and with the incoming freshmen we have...I would say we could be almost as good as the team with 06-07 team. Making the final four could be a push though
-
thedynasty1998I would love for him to come back, because OSU probably becomes the favorite to win the National Championship, however he would be making a mistake if he did return. He's going to be a top 5 pick, and will never improve his stock more.
-
big_hits24I think he does go Pro at the end of the year and I don't think anyone could blame him...he's one of the top guards in the country and he already had a pretty serious injury this season...so I would say he wont take a risk of turning down the big bucks to come back next year and possibly get hurt again.

reclegend22After falling on his back and seeing how close he was to a career-altering injury, chances are one to zero. Take your pick.
Normally, I encourage players to stay longer, but I certainly won't blame him when he takes off. He's as ready as any college player in the country, so why not. -
thedynasty1998I think people are blowing the injury way out of proportion. It was a freak thing that he's fully recovered from. It might end up being a factor, but I don't think it's nearly the factor many seem to think it is.
-
darbypitcher22He's gone.
-
big_hits24Yeah, I would say he is done at OSU after this season.
-
WriterbuckeyeBy all accounts, Evan Turner LOVES college and playing with his teammates at OSU.
If this were a perfect world, I'd say he would be coming back to play with the guys he's so close to right now (Jon Diebler being the primary one), be close to his girlfriend (OSU women's star Samantha Prahalis) and take a shot at winning a national title with a very talented group of players coming in.
This is not a perfect world.
Matta will be ushering him out the door, because he doesn't want to think about the possibility of something happening and Evan not cashing in on being a dead certain lock as a top 3 player in the next NBA draft. -
Emmett BrownTim Duncan did it, so there is a chance.
-
AutomatikHes not coming back......not a chance in hell.
-
thedynasty1998Tim Duncan did it what, 10+ years ago?

rydawg5Probably should be asking if Buford is gone too.
-
royal_kDepends....Does he want a shot at a NC? If he does, with the class coming in, he has a legit chance. Or is the money to much to turn down? But, it will be there next year......

That's exactly what I was going to say. Him hurting his back was one of the worse things to happen when it comes to his chances of staying. I'm pretty sure that hit his mind how close his basketball career (and millions of dollars) came to an end. Plus can his stock get any higher? Will he still be a top 5 pick coming out as a senior? I think the only chance he would come back is to win a national title with the recruiting class coming in next year. I still believe the chances are slim that he returns. -
krazie45More than likely he will be gone, however staying gives him 2 immediate benefits:
1. His return would give Ohio State a realistic chance of winning the National Championship.
2. He would be the unquestioned #1 overall pick.
Whether that combined with other factors (his girl Prahalis will still be at OSU) will be enough to entice him to stay remains to be seen. I wouldn't give a definite answer either way. -
centralbucksfanWould luv for him to come back. And it wouldn't shock me if he did. That being said, he SHOULD go, and shouldn't even hvae to think. The risk he would be taking is too great. And I would assume the injury to his back probably elimented any decision he had to make.

big_hits24He looked pretty darn good today...I know it was Iowa, but some of the crossovers he put on guys were just nasty! I think that if he can put up 20-25pts or more against ILL, IU, Mich St, and Purdue coming up he is definately at least in the top 2 for POY. He just doesnt score...he gets about 10 boards a game, steals and tries to get everyone else involved. Who else does more for their team?

I've never agreed with the whole "leave to not risk injury;" but since he already had a back injury(not something to F with), there is NO DOUBT in my mind he should go. Get paid, he will earn whatever contract he gets. I think he's going to be a very, very good pro for a long time.centralbucksfan wrote: Would luv for him to come back. agree...I was down at the Schott today for the game...he is a mature player with really nothing else to prove at the college level. The thought that playing out his senior year will lead us to a 'final four' team next year is a bit of a stretch, I fear. His ability to control the game makes him ready for the next step...and although injuries are hard to predict...no one would fault him for looking at the big picture...and he is ready for the NBA.big_hits24 wrote: He looked pretty darn good today...I know it was Iowa, but some of the crossovers he put on guys were just nasty! cviewI think he's gone but if he were to return along with Buford then Ohio State would be a lock for top 5 and probably get some serious love at #1.

big_hits24If Dallas Lauderdale could become more of an offensive threat by the Big Ten tourney and into the NCAA, I think OSU could surprise some people. He is a dominant defensive player...but if he can score a little more, that might take a little pressure of of Turner and also get the other guards more chances to score.
