OSU Ticket Prices....OUCH!!!

  • CinciX12
$70 a ticket for a 100,00+ stadium is flat out robbery.

VCA shouldn't have been built. All it still comes down to.
  • thedynasty1998
They could charge double that and they'd still sell out every home football game.
  • OneBuckeye
Try sclaping, you can always get one under face for any game except ScUM and big time OOC schools.
  • sleeper
    I'd pay $200 a ticket.

Look, if you want to see one of the top teams in the country compete, you're going to have to pony up some cash. $1,000,000 says Ohio State still sells out every game, including the supposed cupcake games.

    This.

As much as we hate it, we all know it will happen. I'm also on the record for saying Value City should have never been built, the Bucks lost a HUGE homecourt advantage for as loud as St. John used to get when it was full to capacity.... but, such is life. The only way to change it is for people to flat out stop attending games. We all know this isn't going to happen

Just because you idiots always will go to the games doesn't mean it is even close to being right to charge that.

And using scalping as a way to beat it won't help. You think they don't know ticket prices went up $7 too?
  • devil1197
    Why?

People will pay that money to see OSU, why not charge it?
  • queencitybuckeye
If a product sells out, it's underpriced.

Says the students that currently pay half to go to the games.

Once again... What do you think is the "right" amount to charge fans? :)

    $55 seems good.

Just because they are in debt doesn't mean I should have to pay for their being idiots and building VCA when they didn't need it. Let alone the new basketball practice facility. They may need that though, I don't know the quality of the old one.
  • thedynasty1998
You do understand the athletic budget is bigger than just football and basketball right? OSU has to use the football program to basically fund all of it's varsity sports, and in case you didn't know, OSU has as many varsity sports as anyone else in the country.

I agree that if people are willing to pay it, then it's not overpriced. It's all about supply and demand, and there will always be more demand for OSU tickets than supply.

I honestly think they could charge $170 per ticket and they would still sell out every game.

    You don't have to.

You dont have to pay. You can sit at home and watch the game on TV if you wish. I have no problem paying. I payed over 300 for my section 14 row 44 seat at pasadena and it was worth it in my opinion.

Its $70 dollars to watch one of the best football programs in the nation play in one of the best college stadiums of all time.

Get an extra paper route if you are that worried lol.

I have no problem with what OSU charges. As others have noted, people will still come. OSU will eventually face a point where people refuse to pay; I just don't think they are they yet. I think they could go up to $100/game and still sell out.

As for me, I have season tickets to UC, which by comparison is a bargin. I paid $360 for two season tickets last seasons. I watched some really fun football at a very good price. Individual game tickets are also a steal-- last year they were $42. Looking forward to another fun year of football. However, I am sure UC will raise prices this year as well.

On a side note, I have to laugh at someone who assumes that since someone has "Cinci" in their username they are a UC alum/fan. I guess Sleeper did not notice the big "X" in the avatar.

There is a line waiting out the door. Whatever they want to charge, the tickets will be sold. Sooner or later the average season ticket holder will surender to the alumni. To take your family to one OSU game now days cost almost as much as a vacation on the beach for the week. I've had season tickets for 7 years and the experience is one of the greatest things in the world. Go to your first game to see the team up north come down and you will sit and say,yes it worth the money. Go watch Toledo and say I hope my wife and the three kids like this one day vacation cause it cost $700.00. Every year it seems the crowds get older and older, less people have the money to spend on one Saturday for a couple hours. Sure i can go with my buddies everything is dutch treat but I am really feeling bad for all the little Buckeye fans that will never get a chance because the pricing is going out of sight. GO BUCKS

Very true. With our sputtering economy, it will only get worse. Sports in general have become less and less available for "Joe Six Pack". Many of the people able to attend are there through company seating and or are upper middle class. Even if they are going to the games, parents are leaving the kids at home in order to save money (junior also demnads the $7 hotdog, the $5 popcorn and $5 soda).

The next generation of sports fans will likely be less interested in going to games in person. Heck, even fans today have increasingly less interest. Many NFL teams blacked out a lot of games. The comfort of watching the game at home on your HDTV (meanwhile flipping between the other four games) is to good of a deal.

    This.
Just be glad they aren't up in the ranges of other big schools yet ($90+) because they could do it and would still sell out the joint. They're doing you a favor on that one.
