Plain and simple: Should Charlie Weis be fired?
-
Leonardo2005:
- 9-3, Lost to Ohio State (34-20) in Fiesta Bowl
- Other two losses were by three points each time
2006:
- 10-3, Lost to LSU (41-14) in Sugar Bowl
- Three losses were by 26, 20, and 27
2007:
- 3-9
- Twice lost 38-0
2008:
- 7-6, Defeated Hawaii (49-21) in Hawaii Bowl
- Started 5-2 before losing four of final five regular season games (lone win was six points over Navy)
2009:
- 6-4, remaining schedule is vs. Connecticut, at Stanford
- Four of six wins by seven points or less; Four of four losses by seven points or less
Other:
Notre Dame has lost to Navy two of the last three years after not losing to them for 43 meetings. -
mattinctownYes. Easily could be 2-8 this year, have no defense, and he's never beaten anyone GOOD.
-
steel_curtainHe's got to go.
-
hoops23As a Buckeye fan, it doesn't really matter. However, if my program was in this situation, undoubtedly things would need to be changed (again).

Foul TipTime for that fat ass to walk the plank. And I don't think he'll make it to the end without it smashing in the drink.
Shame, shame on Ol' Notre Dame. Your choice for head coaches is getting quite lame! -
Cmhs74I don't see how the alum will accept another losing season, I see him being bought out of his contract.
-
noreply66maybe ND should lower their grade point average
-
killer_ewokYep.
-
milehiiuPlain and simple answer is yes. But I will go you one better. He should be replaced by Jim Harbough... Look at what Harbough has done with lesser talent at Stanford, and then imagine what he could do at Notre Dame !

Check my last post on the ND-Pitt thread.milehiiu wrote: Plain and simple answer is yes. But I will go you one better. He should be replaced by Jim Harbough... Look at what Harbough has done with lesser talent at Stanford, and then imagine what he could do at Notre Dame !
You and I agree on the successor. -
thedynasty1998Yes, they have to. Especially considering the coaches that are out there right now and most likely available. You have Brian Kelly who I don't see turning down ND. And if he does, you have Gruden out there.

LOL. I didn't see your post. But you must be a gentleman and a scholar as great minds think alike.killer_ewok wrote:

That's funny, I was just thinking the same thing about you! -
OldDanTuckerAs a michigan fan I hope fat boy stays forever, but he will get canned after the season imo
-
gerb131That he should be. I don't like ND but they need to be good to make College Football better.
-
enigmaaxWhy would they want to give up the schematic advantage that they have locked in for the next 40 years?
-
Davey StoneYes
His replacement will be Charlie Strong or Brian Kelly -
darbypitcher22I don't think he'll get fired this year.... I don't know why I feel this way, I just see him getting 1 more year... of course I could be wrong.
And if he does get fired, I don't see Brian Kelly leaving Cincinnati. He's in a great situation there running ramrod on most of the Big East. -
dwccrewCharlie Weis is not a good coach. He can't cheat, like they did in New England, now. Notre Dame needs to get someone that can actually coach an entire team, not just the offense.
-
Manhattan BuckeyeI voted yes, but ND needs to be smart about any new hire. I'd make the strong pitch for Gruden, but ND shouln't count out a young up and comer (like Harbaugh at Stanford) if the opportunity presents itself.
-
Mr PatYes Yes Yes. As for the Michigan fan hoping he stays, it sure looks rosy up in Ann Arbor too. The man can recruit and you can tell he loves the university but he needs to go. At least he left it in a lot better shape than he got it.
-
jpake1Should have been fired after last year.
-
slingshot4everYes, he should be gone. Did an equivalent job to that of Davie and Tyrone.
