I think that's all pretty much spot-on. Expecting a GREAT game between Oregon and UNC. Expect to be interested and captivated with SC and Gonzaga only to the extent it affects my place in the pool, but can't imagine I'll be watching good basketball.Ironman92;1844280 wrote: I think UNC is the best team but Oregon has played the best game, Gonzaga looks primed and ready and USC hasn't even been challenged until Florida. They've all shown a high enough level of play to win.
SC and UNC, to me, would be the most interesting final and match-up. Though Gonzaga/UNC would be pretty good, too. Oregon has impressed me the most, just don't think it would be as entertaining to see them play Gonzaga or SC.
Not that anyone cares...If UNC wins it all, I finish 2nd in my pool (about $360). If SC wins it all, I finish 2nd. Fun scenario for me with a strong rooting interest in both games. -
SportsAndLadyCouldn't care less about this final four. I'll watch, but with minimal interest.
My favorite team played a garbage game and are out. My brackets are done. My pickem league is done. I was the favorite in both the brackets and pickem league heading into this wknd too. This elite 8 fucking sucked. -
gutUNC an early 4.5 point favorite. What do you guys think of that? Looks like a pretty good line for Oregon, to me.

From co-worker in NYC this weekend...Ironman92;1844117 wrote:Shot clock fail
"At the beginning of the final game the shot clock clicker died and was replaced. This did not affect our interface to the clock."
The Tissot clocks have clicker connected for shot-clock. Game clock is controlled via the touchscreen and the ref whistle/pack. But shot clock is controlled by the guy manually resetting. Tissot is only used in NBA stadiums. They have a setting for NBA/College/HS. It defaults to NBA. For NCAA games, they bring in guys who don't work with Tissot much, and what they work with all year usually only has 1 setting. Maybe 2 (men's and women's). So no he is hitting the reset button on the new clicker, bit it's default setting must have been set to reset to 15 not 30. That's super weird, but could easily happen when replacing. It should default to whatever the setting is (35, 30 or 24). But I've seen it where something like happens.
Hell in Milwaukee this year we are testing it out Wednesday. Everything is good. Gameday we come in and test again and somehow it got switched to NBA mode. So I manually enter 30 as the override for reset, which is fine. But you can't manually override the tenths...in NBA under 5 seconds displays tenths. In NCAA, they don't do that. Took us a solid 2 hours to track down the right person to switch the shot clock back into NCAA mode from NBA. -
Laley23And sorry for the nerd alert post lol. But I got that guys event report right when I was reading this thread and figured I'd share.

a warning was issued to madison county which is well within their viewing area and they didn't break in with that info. only when the warning was applied to franklin co did they interrupt. there was a ticker at the top the entire time too.ts1227;1844284 wrote:. If the policy is to cut in for a tornado warning for a county in their area (and that is literally the policy of every station ever anymore) it doesn't matter if it's 400K people in Franklin County or 12 people in Vinton County.
the sirens were going off in mad co for 5 minutes before CBS even put the ticker up. no idea what took so long
this is just a grade a fuckup

Andy Katz tweeted that MSG probably won't ever get regional games again. Not sure if it was only because of yesterday's game or not.Laley23;1844293 wrote:And sorry for the nerd alert post lol. But I got that guys event report right when I was reading this thread and figured I'd share. -

Fucking this! I didn't remotely care who won (I had, uh, UCLA winning it in my completely hilariously horrid bracket), but the game was tight as hell in the final moments and they cut away to a blank screen and some dipshit yammering nonstop because he didn't have anything to point to. Fuck Channel 10, anyone who works there and anyone who likes them.ironman02;1844270 wrote:I get that a severe storm is more important than a sporting event, but the thing that pissed me off is that my screen was just black other than the warnings scrolling across the top. If I'm just gonna hear some weather guy talking, at least show me the game!! -

Shot clock issues caused 3 or 4 delays in the first half.ernest_t_bass;1844305 wrote:I wasn't able to watch. What happened? -
wildcats20And I misread his tweet.
NCAA official tells me they would be surprised if MSG doesn't get another regional when sites are announced through 2022 in April. -

GOONx19This is the best chance he'll ever have to cash in and get attention for his college basketball career. I would probably be making myself visible, too.

ironman02Lost in all the madness yesterday, I forgot to mention what I think was a great coaching job by Roy Williams. I'm always hard on Roy, especially regarding calling timeouts, but he had a spectacular game plan yesterday and did a good job in-game as well. He finally called a timeout when Carolina fell behind 64-59 and the game was slipping away. What happened after that was a 12-0 run to take control of the game back. It was a little shaky down the stretch with the five second call, a missed FT, and letting UK get off some shots (they were contested though), but overall, Roy pushed all the right buttons. I had expected Pinson to guard Monk, but he decided to put Jackson on him and his length really bothered Monk. Pinson ended up doing a fabulous job on Fox instead. I never would have dreamed that Fox and Monk would be held to 25 points combined.
Carolina still has plenty of work left to do, especially since Oregon, South Carolina, and Gonzaga are all really playing well at the moment, but beating Kentucky yesterday was very impressive. That's one heck of a basketball team, and it's really kind of a shame that a game like that happened before the Final Four. Not really the prettiest performance by either team, but the defensive effort by both squads was absolutely spectacular. Those kids left it all on the floor. Glad this one worked out to Carolina's advantage, obviously, but Kentucky should definitely be proud of their effort as well. -
wildcats20Least anticipated matchup in FF history?
Maybe it's just because UNC plays 2nd, but I don't give 2 shits about this game. -
Ironman92Thornwell doing a lot of flailing offensively. He's better than that
-
wildcats20South Carolina can't continue to go up and down with the Zags. Gonna have to slow the pace way down for them to win.

ironman02He had the flu this week.

gutGonzaga's size is killing them. But I don't think Zags will keep shooting like this.
SC was hanging tough until that little flurry at the end. -
