Historians, is this true about Ohio State?

  Been reading some college football message boards today, and I saw two statements about OSU that, if true, are VERY impressive (historians, let me know if you can confirm this):
  
  *The 2009-10 Ohio State Buckeyes became the first team to beat 5 teams that finished with 10 wins
  
  *The 2009-10 Ohio State Buckeyes became the first team to beat 3 teams in its final four games that will finish in the Top 10 Nationally
  
  Regardless if they were the "only" team to do this, still very impressive ... just curious if the Bucks stand alone in doing so.

  I'll be the first to admit that I was as down on the Big 10 and OSU as anyone. But they really proved themselves this bowl season, and this OSU team has to go down as one of the better OSU teams in history.

  Eh, that's pushing it...Maybe top 15 teams of all time but I could rattle off 7 or 8 right off the top of the head that were better than this years team.

  There may be several teams that were "better" but very few that have the resume' of facts to prove it.

  Wow, that is impressive. I just took a quick look at recent history and could have overlooked something, but the closest I found to accomplishing both was 2003 LSU who won five GAMES against 10-win teams:
  
  Georgia (twice)
  Mississippi
  Oklahoma
  Western Illinois
  
  Oklahoma and Georgia both finished in the top ten, while Mississippi was close at #13 (AP). Those were three of their last four games, with 9-win Arkansas being the other.

  Doesn't really matter to me, but Navy's schedule doesn't exactly set the world on fire either. I'm just throwing some facts out there, not trying to prove or disprove anything about the accomplishment.

  Considering OSU has had more than 100 teams, I think being in the Top 15 would be considered 'one of the better teams'.

  I'm not saying this is the best OSU team ever, but it isn't unreasonable for someone to make a case for one of the top 10 of all time. They will likely end the AP poll in the top 3-4 and their schedule looks pretty good now that the season is over.

  With teams plating longer schedules, this was bound to happen. It's more a sign of the times than anything too tremendous. It insinuates 2009 Ohio State being one of the best teams ever, which is very untrue.

  I know what you're saying, but it is quite an accomplishment. You would think that it had been done quite a few more times in the past but it hasn't, does that make this the best Buckeye team ever?, probably not, but the FACT is, this accomplishment has rarely been noted, and will likely not be repeated in the near future.

  Yeah, like most things some people wll automatically try to point out all the caveats but most can just recognize it for what it is. It may have been bound to happen and some other teams have come close (Oklahoma beat four 10-win teams in 2000, including K-State twice, plus 9-win Texas), but if it were no big deal, someone else would've done it by now. There were a lot of things that had to align a certain way....and they had to win the right games.
  
  It is interesting to me to list and compare similar accomplishments but the fact that there's going to be a select few puts this one in pretty good company.
  
  Some others off the top of my head: Nebraska (71?) finished #1 and beat the #2, #3, and #4 teams; Notre Dame (88?) beat four of the final top 10 teams; Miami (87?) beat three straight top 10 teams to end the season and win the national title (though all three did not end up in the top 10).

  Yep, thats why I capitalized GAMES and said "closest". Do you what you want with it, but both won five games against 10-win teams.

  That would be why he capitalized 5 GAMES...not 5 teams. Beat Georgia twice that season, so 5 games, but only 4 teams.

  What is amazing is the end results and facts of this season vs. what was being said about this team and their head coach around the middle of the season.
  
  Who knows who is the "best" OSU team but this one has some great accomplishments on its resume. Ohio St fans have it real easy as far as groups of fans go.

  It's a shame all the shit Pryor has to deal with from the media..all because of one game. What in 2 seasons hes lost 4 games as a starter?

  CORRECTION - 10 OR MORE WINS.
  
  Iowa and Penn State finished with 11 wins.

  This is REAL hard to research, but I'd venture a guess this Ohio State team has improved more throughout the season than any other Ohio State team. Does anyone REALLY think USC and Purdue could beat Ohio State now?
  
  Even as amazing as the stats presented and Ohio State only loses 6 starters, today on the BTN it was said Iowa should be considered the favorite to win the Big Ten Title next year.

  Navy played Ohio State, Pittsburg, SMU and Notre Dame
  Boise State played Oregon and.....and......and....?????
