One team has one loss and a stronger SOS...need I continue?slingshot4ever;1827525 wrote:Let week they were, but now they added Wisconsin. Who's to say that doesn't now make them comparable? -

i agree OSU should be in...put you are acting like you are sitting in the room with the selection committeevball10set;1827528 wrote:One team has one loss and a stronger SOS...need I continue?
you mouth off that OSU and PSU aren't comparable per the committee...problem is that they made that statement last Tuesday...some games were played this weekend that may have changed their opinion -
slingshot4ever
intetested in seeing link that they still stood by that belief after PSU win yesterday....vball10set;1827529 wrote:Huh? -

pretty much, you can't make this claimvball10set;1827524 wrote:one thing people have to realize too is that the committee is looking at the resumes of PSU vs Washington, NOT PSU vs OSU...the Buckeyes are in...period. -
SportsAndLadyYeah, nobody at this point knows what the committee will do.
Sure, you can be pretty damn confident that OSU is in.
But for all we know, in a few hours the committee can say "don't win your conference? Not playing for a national championship!"
Unfortunately that's what you get when you have a subjective committee of human beings make the ultimate decisions. What do you call a group of vultures? You call them a committee. -

Agree, take the SEC approach.slingshot4ever;1827523 wrote:If OSU is left out, the committee will be making it clear that a conference champion overrides SOS. At which point every power 5 team should schedule all FCS teams to ensure no out of conference losses. OSU went to Oklahoma, Big 12 Champ, and killed them.
if OSU can't get in as a non conference champ with their resume no one ever will. -
Fly4FunThe committee really does have to be forward thinking as already pointed out. If they leave out OSU they are saying OOC doesn't matter only conference championships do. It would tell all the conferences to stop scheduling challenging OOC games and would go against stuff that they've said earlier.
I think the funny thing is people are trying to point back 2 years for "precedence" on OSU got in because conference champion. No, OSU got in because TCU and Baylor had terrible schedules especially OOC. If anything, 2 years ago sets up OSU well because they have a better overall resume just like 2 years ago. -

Sorry I gave off that impression, I was just giving my opinion on how I think the committee will go...and how was I mouthing off?!?slingshot4ever;1827530 wrote:i agree OSU should be in...put you are acting like you are sitting in the room with the selection committee

iclfan2Agreed, the TCU situation was completely different. And It seems like the most people clambering for psu over OSU are OSU haters more than actually believe psu is better. I think the better discussion is psu over washington. Washingtons schedule was garbage.
Also interesting, ESPN stats and info put out a tweet today saying going 11-1 w OSU schedule was 5x harder than 11-2 with psu schedule. That's a no brainer.

Including the convincing win at Oklahoma looks to be the most impressive road win in college football this year.slingshot4ever;1827530 wrote:i agree OSU should be in...put you are acting like you are sitting in the room with the selection committee

It's definitely a good road win, but let's not pretend the Oklahoma team we played is the same as the big 12 champion Oklahoma team now.Ironman92;1827540 wrote:Including the convincing win at Oklahoma looks to be the most impressive road win in college football this year.
IMO, we OSU fans were all about "this OSU team now is a lot different than the team that lost to Va Tech", so I'm not about to say that OSU win was the most impressive as it was a long time ago when Oklahoma was not playing as well as they are now. -

That's fine and I agree Ok is better...but like UM thrashing PSU by 39....the fact remains that OSU has a convincing win on the road at Oklahoma who is likely 7th in the nation.SportsAndLady;1827541 wrote:It's definitely a good road win, but let's not pretend the Oklahoma team we played is the same as the big 12 champion Oklahoma team now.

Without that it's a colossal clusterfuck. -

Oh I'm not saying I'm not using it in arguments against OSU haters lolIronman92;1827542 wrote:That's fine and I agree Ok is better...but like UM thrashing PSU by 39....the fact remains that OSU has a convincing win on the road at Oklahoma who is likely 7th in the nation.

We just all know that the Oklahoma team we played got a lot better since then. -

Houston showed that tehy know how to gameplan and play with the big boys. OSU is clearly one of the best teams. I'm not sold OU is better now than they were then. I think Houston just caught OU offguard and OSU came to play. I think OU was good then as it is good now, they just happened to play 2 dangerous teams early on.SportsAndLady;1827543 wrote:Oh I'm not saying I'm not using it in arguments against OSU haters lol

Why? Why does OU beating up on a clearly lackluster Big 12 schedule show it is better now? They were playing overall easier games in the Big 12. OU is still a good team and was a good team to begin the season.SportsAndLady;1827545 wrote:Lol, no.
It's not like OU was breaking in a new QB.
Saying OU is clearly better now is just trying to discount OSU's win over them at OU. Give credit where credit is due. OU was a good team then and has shown they are a good team by going undefeated after that. They didn't magically get better. OSU is just a great team. -
slingshot4everIf we had another MAC team instead of Oklahoma, we are out. Plain and simple. That game will save this team.
Also, saw Mayfield said he is coming back for senior year. That game in Columbus will be HUGE next year. -

Because I watch the fucking games and can see how much better they are playing now than their OOC play. You can be a biased OSU fan all you want, I'll be a realist OSU fan.Fly4Fun;1827546 wrote:Why? Edit: and quit with the "discounting" the Oklahoma win for OSU. I just fucking said I'm not discounting it, just not willing to call it the best road win of the season. I'll give that to USC and their dominant win over Washington. -

I gotta disagree with ya and say Fly is dead right. The Big 12 is really bad, you watch these games and the tackling is absolutely atrocious which has certainly helped OU throw up big numbers. You gotta realize Oklahoma State and West Virginia are the only other ranked teams in the conference.SportsAndLady;1827548 wrote:Because I watch the fucking games and can see how much better they are playing now than their OOC play. Look back to the last two years though, OU last year storms thru the Big 12 and gets pasted 37-17 by Clemson and the year before lost to them in a bowl 40-6. It's all smoke and mirrors with that conference -
