There was/is a web site where you could select a team, and most of them could justify a #1 ranking based on who beat whom who beat whom, etc...wildcats20;1824298 wrote:And Penn State ahead of OSU?
And Pitt ahead of Clemson? -

Just funny to me that a 2 loss team is ahead of a 1 loss team. But I don't necessarily disagree with it.queencitybuckeye;1824307 wrote:Based on it not being deserved or because you don't believe they could beat the Huskies? Based on the admittedly too small sample size of last night, Washington wouldn't piss a drop against Bucky. -

It does but USC and Penn State are very different teams than they were before. I'm not saying put them in the playoffs but it absolutely needs to be considered.Spock;1824297 wrote:No you don't. The whole idea for college football is body of work. It's exciting because every game is supposed to count for something.
OSU got in over Baylor based on this principle, their loss to VT was when they were a very different team
Personally I think there is no way that a 1 loss OSU team is left out if it's PSU/WIS in the title. I think it'll actually be 1 Alabama 2 Clemson 3 Ohio State and 4 Louisville in the playoffs. Washington won't beat SC in the Pac12 title and Michigans MAC schedule in October has clearly set them back -
SportsAndLadyAnyone see former Oregon db cliff harris' mug shot? Fucking insane lol. Dudes a wreck.

OSU is very lucky that a lot of shit went down this weekend. If it was just Michigan who lost and OSU loses out on the tiebreaker and those other teams had won out it would have been tough to put them in. I think they are a top 4 team, no doubt, but if Clem, Wash would have won out it would have been much tougher than it is now.Classyposter58;1824323 wrote:It does but USC and Penn State are very different teams than they were before. Oregon just needs to call Kelly and basically give him a blank check to come back.SportsAndLady;1824509 wrote:Anyone see former Oregon db cliff harris' mug shot? Fucking insane lol. Dudes a wreck.

That's good for us for the game, but I wonder if the committee will be impressed if we beat um with their backup qbvball10set;1824522 wrote:ttun QB out with injury

To be honest, after watching the entire game vs Iowa, I was looking forward to our defense shutting his ass down...and you present a good point as far as the committee is concerned. We have to win, and win BIG, if we're going to get in the playoff without playing in the B1G 'ship.FatHobbit;1824524 wrote:That's good for us for the game, but I wonder if the committee will be impressed if we beat um with their backup qb -
Benny The JetI don't know anything about O'korn, but is there ANY chance Indiana beats them this weekend? As an OSU fan, that would pretty much spell the end of a playoff birth, if UM loses to Ind.

I thought Indiana was gonna give them hell anyway, this only reassures that to me.Benny The Jet;1824533 wrote:I don't know anything about O'korn, but is there ANY chance Indiana beats them this weekend? As an OSU fan, that would pretty much spell the end of a playoff birth, if UM loses to Ind. -
Crimson streakLol you Ohio st fans kill me. If Ohio st wins out they are in no matter what. Who is going to jump them? Louisville? Washington? They control their own destiny

I wish I had that confidence. I just don't like the fact that we have to break the mold and be the first they'd do it for, sending in a non-conference champ. Here's a scenario I could see playing out...Crimson streak;1824536 wrote:Lol you Ohio st fans kill me. If Ohio st wins out they are in no matter what. Who is going to jump them? Louisville? 1-SEC Champ ALAbama
2-1 Loss ACC Champ Clemson
3- 1 Loss PAC 12 Champ Washington (Who would either beat a top 10ish Colorado/USC)
4-This is where it gets dicey. I think they'd put in Wisc if they win B1G. (Yes, I know OSU beat them @Wisc) I just think committee takes easy road and sticks with conference champs. Are those the 4 best teams? No. Does the committee ever make sense in the stuff they do? No. A lot of football left to play, it'll all work itself out though and make it clear. -
Azubuike24Ohio State SHOULD be in. However, the committee has said (and thus far has rewarded) conference champs get priority.
Alabama wins out, wins SEC
Washington wins out, wins PAC 12
Clemson wins out, wins ACC
Penn State wins out, wins BIG TEN (and beat Ohio State)
While there's a lot of football left, that's a very plausible scenario that would keep Ohio State on the outside. Louisville is in the same boat. They are #2 and #3 in the polls, but hurt big time because they are on the outside of their own conference.
I will agree on this though. If Penn State loses and Ohio State wins out, they are 100% a lock. The only other potential conference champ that could lay claim would be Oklahoma, and Ohio State beat them. They would have wins over Wisconsin and Nebraska, the only teams with a chance to win the Big Ten in that scenario. -
iclfan2I don't get confidence in anything the committee does. They have only been around for 2 years, so how can anyone predict what they will do this year?
-
Azubuike24A debate that may come up. Who gets in?
A 2-loss Wisconsin (that beats Michigan in the Big Ten title game), a 2-loss Oklahoma (that wins out) or a 1-loss Louisville who didn't win their league? -
Azubuike24
I mean, sure, nothing is over until it's over, but they have said repeatedly before and during the process that total record isn't as important as winning your own league. Remember when Baylor and TCU got the boot because they couldn't have a true title game?iclfan2;1824545 wrote:I don't get confidence in anything the committee does. thavoiceIf the cards fall right, OSU could get fucked in the playoffs and left out. This really could be a total shitshow with the committee going forward....
BUT....if that happens I see it getting expanded to 8 as soon as they possible can get it to pass through. -
vball10set
I think was meant to send a message to the Big 12 to hold a conference game, or suffer the consequences.Azubuike24;1824547 wrote: . Remember when Baylor and TCU got the boot because they couldn't have a true title game? -

sleeperNo doubt Ohio State is one of the best 4 teams in the country. They were one of the best 4 teams in the country last year as well.
With that said, if they don't win the B1G championship game, they should go play ND in a bowl game, assuming ND is doing it's classic 6-6/bowl loss season. -

77-2 buckeyes if that matchup happens....sleeper;1824553 wrote:No doubt Ohio State is one of the best 4 teams in the country. They were one of the best 4 teams in the country last year as well.

wildcats20OSU won't be getting fucked if they miss the playoffs. Want to be in the playoffs? Don't lose to fucking Penn State, no matter how good either team is right now.

This. We're not having this conversation if Ohio State doesn't fucking blow a 21-7 4thQ lead by getting two kicks blocked. I know it's hard to go undefeated, and it's hard to win on the road at night in conference, especially after a tough win in Madison and with Penn State having two weeks to prepare. But, seriously, fucking execute and win.wildcats20;1824564 wrote:OSU won't be getting fucked if they miss the playoffs. Want to be in the playoffs? That said, Ohio State obviously needs to win out. They need Penn State to either shit themselves against Sparty or maybe lose in the Big Ten Championship (depending on what else happens in the other conferences). A two loss PSU/Wisconsin will most likely get in over the Buckeyes because they will be a conference champ, so Ohio State needs to hope that either Clemson or Washington loses again. -
Ironman92Washington will lose again but it's all moo IMO.
