I think he'll be at the top of the list for best defensive players in the country, but I don't think he'll be as good as Suh was/is.
    I don't either, and I don't believe I said that...

I know, I wasn't implying you said that. I was just kinda reiterating what you were saying.

I love Heyward, but I still don't see the fascination with him. He put up good numbers, but he isn't even regarded as one of the top 5 DE's this year in the country.

Go back and look at his game to game stats, I think you will be surprised at how well he DIDN'T play...

Outside of the PSU game, he really just had a solid year, nothing spectacular. He was non-existent in the Iowa game.

He isn't rated as one of the top 5 because there is A LOT of depth on the Dline around the country this year.
He is a beast and is very good. He has everything you want, size, quickness and smarts.
Stats can be completley overrated, especially with defensive lineman. Look at all american Bama Terrence Cody. The guy had like 25 tackles, 2 sacks all season. Yet, he is an all american. Dline is a dirty job. If a good Dlineman is doing his job, the LB's are the ones who look good and are able to make tackles at the line, not 5yds off the line.
The OSU Dline was the heart and soul of this team. This was the best Dline since the 02 season. And Heyward was a BIG part of that.

Couldn't have said it any better myself! The D-line is what made this Buckeyes team go this year and Heyward's numbers were probably limited due to how many guys OSU rotated up front. With a D-line as deep as they had, it's more beneficial to rotate often and have fresh bodies working the trenches. Couldn't agree more that a D-lineman's success is never truly reflected in his stats. You have to really watch closely to fully appreciate the value of a guy like Cam to this OSU team.
