From His Mouth: Gibson is returning to OSU
-
lhslep134I asked Gibson in the locker room after the Rose Bowl if he's coming back. He looked at me, said, "Man, I love OSU, I can't leave yet".
Heyward also confirmed in the locker room he's coming back as well. -
lhslep134And for those that don't believe that I talked to Gibson in the locker room...
-
thedynasty1998I appreciate your insight, but I don't care what Gibson told a student reporter from OSU. If was after the bowl game in the locker room and he is going to tell you what you want to hear.
I'm not saying he won't return, but just because he told you he was returning doesn't mean too much. -
DeyDurkie5Yeah, it's cool you got to talk to him..but I dont believe what he has to say to a student reporter after a huge victory.
-
devil1197Plus, that quote doesn't even truly me is is coming back.
I'd put more stock into it if he said "Yes, I'll be returning for my SR year". Not I can't leave yet.
Hell, I can't leave work yet but that doesn't mean I am staying here all night. -
Hamp89Good for you!
-
thedynasty1998And no offense, but an actual reporter wouldn't be in awe of the guys he's interviewing, which you seem to be (i.e. taking pictures with your camera phone).
-
lhslep134There were 4 student reporters in there, I wasn't there to take quotes and write articles, it was my job to take videos. That is a picture from a still shot of the video interview. If you look, there's 2 other reporters there as well, one with a recorder, and one with a notepad.
I wasn't in awe, I was doing my job. So fuck off asshole. Don't say no offense and then state an offensive comment. -
Fab1bHope they are coming back!!
-
DeyDurkie5
you must have a vagina if that comment was offensive to youlhslep134 wrote: There were 4 student reporters in there, I wasn't there to take quotes and write articles, it was my job to take videos. devil1197Dude, thats exactly why people say "no offense". Its so you don't take what looks like an offensive comment personally. If he wouldn't have said no offense, it would look like he was being a straight up dick to you.
-
lhslep134It's an offensive comment when I'm doing my job, trying to get inside information to report back to you guys that guys over at Buckeyegrove and other sites have to pay for because I'm collecting the same information as those writers (I would know, I was with them the whole weekend), and some asshole is telling me I shouldn't be acting in awe, when I wasn't.

lhslep134
And just because you say "no offense" doesn't automatically mean it won't be taken offensively. That's like saying "hey Gibson, no offense, but you're just a dumbass." Just because I said no offense doesn't mean it's not an offensive comment, regardless of the preface.devil1197 wrote: Dude, thats exactly why people say "no offense". EDIT: FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SENSITIVE EYES, AND CAN'T UNDERSTAND EXAGGERATED EXAMPLES. -
thedynasty1998I understood that you could take offense to it, which is why I prefaced it the way I did.
Hey, I'm just some internet poster, don't let me get to you. I'm just stating what seems to be my perception.
And I don't think "your job" is to report back to us. Of course we appreciate it, but if you want to provide some insight provide more than what you did. Just because you have a picture in the locker room of him saying he's coming back doesn't give you any more credibility than Joe Schmoe seeing him on campus and reporting the same thing. -
OneBuckeye^Contrary to what the other people say thanks for the info... but I think emotions after the game play a big part in his answer, I think he will leave. However, there are a ton of juniors declaring for the draft so his chance of landing in the first two rounds are getting slimmer with each declaration. I think even with the new contract rules next year he can elevate his level significantly just because the talent level will not be as high. I am surprised he did say he would return instead of saying he will wait and see. Pittman said he would be back right after the LSU bowl game and he ended up leaving. But this is encouraging news.

derek bomarwow. someone dropped the n-bomb

rocket31is there a prerequisite for all media folks to be dumbasses?

devil1197
Dude you're a dumbass if you think thats the same scenario.lhslep134 wrote:

lhslep134It's not the same scenario. It's a different scenario. My point was that just because you say no offense, doesn't mean I'm wrong for taking offense to it, because I take a TON of pride in the opportunities that I have been lucky enough to receive doing student radio, especially because I'm not a journalism major and have no interest in doing this professionally, I do it for fun.

devil1197
What he said was acceptable in society and therefore he could use the no offense if he believed that you would take it personal.lhslep134 wrote: It's not the same scenario. It's a different scenario. Calling someone the N word is not acceptable at all, pretty classless example. -
thedynasty1998Very classless example. Not even sure why he would use such an idiotic comment as an example.
Dude lost a ton of respect in my book. First for acting like he had breaking news, and secondly for being so classless, yet acting like a "real reporter". -
lhslep134You're acting like I actually called him that. It's called an exaggerated example, normally used to try and make a point.
I obviously don't think Gibson is what I referred to him in my post, he's actually a really cool guy, and we talked for about five minutes off the record about what it means to play for Ohio State, Oregon, and a few other things non football related. -
lhslep134
I really don't care about earning respect in your book. You're the one who attacked me accusing me of acting in awe, I was responding that I actually took offense to that comment because I was doing my job. I wasn't acting like I had "breaking news", this is the first time I've been on the site posting since I got back from LA. I would have posted this Sunday if I had been on the site. I made this thread because I thought it would be of interest to the numerous Buckeye posters on here. I'm not acting like what Gibson told me is final fact. I'm just creating a discussion topic about what he said to me personally.thedynasty1998 wrote: Very classless example. Not even sure why he would use such an idiotic comment as an example.

thedynasty1998Then go back and edit your post and use a better example. Many consider that to be the most offensive word in the english vocabulary, so you might want to think before you type next time.
-
lhslep134And, it's now edited for you dynasty. I'm sorry you and others can't separate examples from reality.
