This could explains where one of the extra schollies is coming from. I don't think Washington or Thomas will transfer though.

Kid is a great athlete and ran the Navy offense for the scout team very well this year. But was never going to see time at safety for OSU. He wants to play QB at Ashland.
  • Sonofanump
Cundiff is gone (sr.) , so he will battle with Houseright for the spot.
  • thedynasty1998
The starting job will not be handed to him at Ashland. He hasn't played QB in a few years, and Houseright is a local kid who everyone loves. And from what I've heard, he's been really impressive. I'll be really surprised if Pentello beats him out as a full time starter. I see them splitting time next year.

What offense does Ashland run? Pentello is a great athelete and he would fit best in an option style offense like Michigan's or Navys. I thought Ashland ran the spread, not sure if they use a running QB or option style though.
  • thedynasty1998
They do run a spread offense. They had a stud QB who has a chance of getting drafted this year who was a D1 transfer. However, I think the coaching staff has the potential to adjust according to personnel.

called it 3 yrs ago...you can look it up. No wait you can't unless you paid the $12. So I'll say it here now about Storm Klein, won't see the field until he transfers to a MAC school.

Really? You must not watch OSU football. He is a regular on special teams as a FR and has received PT at LB earlier this season.

Key word is "earlier" haven't seen him since the NAVY game. Wasn't a regular on any SP teams.

Hmm, then the OSU main website stat guys must be idiots. Klein has played in all 13 games for OSU this season.

I would have agreed with you about Klein heading into the year. But he's obviously shown something to the coaches because he didn't redshirt like I thought he would and got onto the field.

I will say that I think OSU continues to bring in guys behind Klein that could pass him up on the depth chart. I wouldn't be shocked to see him as a 4 year special teams player though.

Honestly, Klein has added some weight and is right on par with the other FR LB's in terms of depth. He could be the type of LB that wasn't a highly recruited player but turned out to be a solid guy.

OSU doesn't have a LB that will pass him on the depth charts this year coming in unless Hicks makes a surprise pick.
  • thedynasty1998
I haven't followed Klein much and was really surprised with his playing time this year, but it's hard to say no one will pass him. OSU is stacked at LB next year with all returning minus Spitler. You have Moeller coming back, Sabino waiting, Bell waiting, Tony Jackson and Newsome were other backups. And Whiting who redshirted.

So it's unlikely Klein gets increased playing time this upcoming year and then his junior year he's battling with current guys on the roster in addition to two more recruiting classes. Which could include Hicks.
  • devil1197
thedynasty, Sabino has been waiting longer than any of those guys and Klein had more tackles than him this season. Moeller is returning but he missed an entire season and no one knows how he will react when getting in the head. Klein is already backing up Rolle at MLB on the DC as a Freshman. He may not start next season but he will be the leader for the MLB spot his JR year.
  • OneBuckeye
Sabino struggles mentally and that is why Klien played as a Freshman because he was mentally ready. Bell and or Whiting are must more athletic and could pass him this next year. I have not been impressed with Sabino's physical growth in his time at tOSU either. Rolle, Homan and Spitler have grown and got more defined physically throughout their time at OSU. I think this may be another reason as that part of his game athough it was a 5 star level when he came osu hasn't gotten better either. Whiting is a physical speciman and will be a competitor and I think Bell will be great too, I am excited to see how the LB competion shakes out next year. Klien is the least physically impressive of any of the young LBs, but he may be a little quicker reacting and most ready mentally. He is fast.
  • thedynasty1998
devil, I'm just playing devils advocate. Klein really impressed me this year with how he was able to get onto the field. I think he'll be fine. But I don't know for sure if he'll get passed on the depth chart or not.
  • devil1197
    No problem at all.

I wasn't high on Klein going into the year but he has impressed me so far. I am still waiting for the light in Sabino's head to pop on because the guy would be a great OLB and the spot will be open next year to battle with Moeller who is coming off a severe injury.

Agreed. AU absolutly robbed Housewright from Division 1 CFB... kid is really good and I don't see Pentello playing QB fulltime... WR maybe?

I believe ashland is giving him a scholarship, and it isn't to play WR...

Rocco was an all-state QB in HS. I see him doing very well at Ashland. He should have taken one of his other D1 offers to play at a lower tier D1 school and played QB, but he followed his childhood team and dawned the scarlet and gray for 3 great years. Best of luck to him. He has (or had techinically) the arm strength to make all the throws within 30 yards pretty accurately. I can only imagine that he is stronger now, but who knows if he has been throwing the ball around outside of practice.

Not sure why he wants to play QB when you have to be able to throw well to be a decent QB.

Played against him for two seasons, and couldn't stand his attitude, along with Nick Moore. However, Nick Moore was actually good.

He's just trying to star at a small school like his brother did at Capital.
  • thedynasty1998
His cousin was the star at Capital.

I really don't think he'll play QB at Ashland and probably won't be real happy.

Hmm. I thought it was his brother because I though his dad was Rocky Pentellow, Sr. and the kid from Capital was Rocky Jr.

Either way, he thinks he's going to be a star at a smaller program, and it's simply not true. He's not very good.

your wrong, the kid can play...maybe not qb there but he can play
