Azubuike24I guess MSU and TCU could but neither were high this week (7 and 8). They are probably going to fall too far to get back into the top 4.

Ironman92Gotta add Oklahoma as they still face OK St, Baylor and TCU

SpockAt then end of the year there will only be 2 undefeated teams...OSU and Clemson. If anyone else is undefeated like OK St. then that just helps out the playoff system to keep 1 loss SEC schools from getting in

You gotta figure if it's 1-loss Alabama vs 1-loss Florida going into the SEC CG, and only 2 unbeaten teams, it's almost a lock that the winner gets in.Spock;1761826 wrote:At then end of the year there will only be 2 undefeated teams...OSU and Clemson. Bama at MSU, vs Charleston Southern, at Auburn, vs Florida (SEC CG). 2 road games, but in theory, they have a pretty manageable slate to the playoff. Given that they are already in the playoff top 4, it's pretty much 100% they are in if they win out. Even over an unbeaten team. -

Azubuike24at MSU could be tricky, they are playing decent and Bama struggles there. But I agree...about 95% chance or more they win out.
The real question will be whether LSU creeps back into the discussion. Them and Notre Dame are both teams who would have arguments for strong 1-loss resumes.
Ohio State
Clemson
Alabama
Who gets that 4th spot is largely dependent on how the Big 12 plays out and if ND can beat Stanford. Gotta figure ND is the top 1-loss team at this point (which stinks, I don't think they are that good with their injuries). -
SportsAndLadyBaylor or OK State wins out, gotta give it to them over any one loss team.
I honestly don't see why everyone has Bama chalked in the final 4. There will be 1 loss teams at the end of the season with Better resumes than them.
I get that they're coming off a two TD win against the #2 team in the country. But if you look at their schedule that is their only win that sticks out and their loss was a very bad loss at home. -

Stanford wins out
Or would it be stronger if ND won out? -
SportsAndLadyI don't see Stanford but I guess they do have a shot. I'm sure it'll be Alabama and I'm sure they'll even be 2 or 3 over an undefeated team or two. Because SEC.

If Bama and ND both finished with 1 loss, ND losing to undefeated Clemson should be more impressive than Bama losing to Ole MissSportsAndLady;1761845 wrote:Baylor or OK State wins out, gotta give it to them over any one loss team.

That it isn't obvious to everyone is quite disturbing. Thank you for pointing it out to those who have a tenuous grasp on the idea of being deserving of being in the playoff and what it constitutes.Ironman92;1761978 wrote:Who you beat is also a significant factor -

That might hurt them even more considering they beat Middle Tennessee, Louisiana-Monroe, and Charleston Southern.Ironman92;1761978 wrote:Who you beat is also a significant factor -
Azubuike24It will be very interesting if Alabama and Notre Dame continue to win out. I mean, given they were #4 and #5 in the initial rankings and OSU was #14, it would be interesting if the final 5 were...
Ohio State unbeaten
Clemson unbeaten
Oklahoma State unbeaten
Alabama 1-loss
Notre Dame 1-loss
There would definitely be some controversy. -

Gotta go both ways with it. Bama has defeated LSU handily....what is ND's best win? Navy? Temple Owls?Al Bundy;1761985 wrote:That might hurt them even more considering they beat Middle Tennessee, Louisiana-Monroe, and Charleston Southern.
Bama wins out and ND with a win over Stanford won't keep them from the playoff 4 -
Ironman92
ND IMO needs LSU to lose another game or two to lessen than currently very impressive win and then Florida to play like crap even though they won't lose and then both Florida/Bama play poorly with Bama winning a tight one......then ND beat Stanford like Bama beat LSU and then Stanford to look good running the rest of their games including PAC Champ.Azubuike24;1761987 wrote:It will be very interesting if Alabama and Notre Dame continue to win out. ND could benefit from Temple and Navy working themselves near the top 15....while Wisconsin, Miss St and A&M struggle to stay in top 25 -

Not really. 1-loss Alabama would be the SEC champion so ND doesn't really have a leg to stand on.Azubuike24;1761987 wrote:It will be very interesting if Alabama and Notre Dame continue to win out. Alabama runs table. Florida State beats Florida.
2-Loss Florida beats 1-Loss Alabama.
Notre Dame loses to Stanford.
Oklahoma wins the Big 12.
Could LSU (non SEC Division champ) make it to the playoffs? H2H win over Florida.
OSU, Clemson, Stanford...
And
Oklahoma or LSU or even 1-loss Iowa? -

Azubuike24If you took Oklahoma's 1-loss (Texas) vs LSU's 1-loss (Alabama), it would be hard to consider the Sooners. Yes, they can claim they are "Big 12 champions", but look what that got TCU/Baylor last year. The committee obviously doesn't see a league without a CG the same.
A 1-loss Iowa? C'mon. Even the Big Ten homers can agree they got the luckiest conference schedule possible and their 1-loss would likely be at the end of the year to the real champion of the league (MSU or OSU). -

Iowa is a good team and the Big Ten is the best conference this year. If Iowa only has 1-loss at the end of the year, they are a shoe-in for the CFP along with the B1G champion.Azubuike24;1762129 wrote:If you took Oklahoma's 1-loss (Texas) vs LSU's 1-loss (Alabama), it would be hard to consider the Sooners. This assume Ok State/Baylor and Clemson are undefeated at year's end. Iowa will have the "best loss" of the remaining teams. -

10. Oklahoma -

They would be the runner up in the best conference in the country with their only loss to the #1 undefeated team. Didn't beat anybody? I guess Northwestern and Wisconsin are not ranked teams...Azubuike24;1762168 wrote:They didn't beat anyone. Notre Dame would have an equal loss and have much better wins.
Also, ND doesn't have to play in a title game. Iowa shouldn't be punished because it has to have an additional game added for being successful. A 1-loss ND should never make the CFP until it joins a conference or their are no other 1-loss teams.
