This was the WORST 5 minutes of basketball I have ever seen from Carolina. Worse than the 8-20 year.
Has nothing to do with OSU, of course not

    This is awesome!

    I've got hope!

Happy to see that State never quit in this one.

1st half and free throws cost OSU this game

this comeback won't happen...but in the long run, this game says way more about Carolina than it does the Buckeyes...
the Bucks were extremely cold all nite; but the Heels were QUITTERS.

I'm not saying that. The Bucks have for sure earned their way back into this game with a shot to send it to OT. But a team without a PG should not have been able to come back like this. If Larry makes 1 of those first 2 FT's that he missed both of the game is over.

That was one hell of an effort from the Bucks.

I hope that OSU plays with that fire all year. I saw an intensity that just wasn't there in the first half. Of course, UNC had a hand in that.

Well, the game does have two halves. As bad as OSU was in the first half, Carolina was worse in the final 10 minutes.

    Sloppy, sloppy game....

Great effort by OSU, but they don't have the consistency to beat elite teams. UNC needs to stay focused, but they are sooooo young.

OSU will smoke Cal in the consolation game and Syracuse is going to take Carolina down in the title game.

OSU just needs some depth on the inside. . . that is what is going to kill us all year. . . Lauderdale is really the only presence we have.

Neither team looked very good tonite, but I would be more concerned if I were a Carolina fan.

That's definitely the thing that's going to kill Carolina this year, the pg slot. It will be interesting to see how Roy's system works with such a shaky starter out top.

But, I suspect, as usual, Roy will get his players to wrap around it and be a force. As much as I hate to say it. There is some real talent there. It will take some time to develop, though.

That said, if Duke doesn't beat Carolina this season in Cameron, I'm never talking about Duke on the internet again.

I thought Carolina looked sluggish. Maybe we can beat them in Chapel this season.... Nah.... :(.

But seriously, it is early in the season, still a bunch of kinks to work out.

I expected a loss going into this game for Carolina, so I'm pleasantly surprised with the win. It's the same thing as the FIU and Valpo games though. The Heels did NOT play 40 minutes. You can't do that, especially against the #15 team in the nation. I'm sure if they hadn't opened up a big lead, the focus and intensity would have been fine, but the key to success is playing hard the ENTIRE game.

There were plenty of bright spots for Carolina tonight, but there are plenty of things to work on as well. Once this team stops turning the damn ball over constantly, and the young guys get a little more experience, they're going to be good. At some point this season, there won't be flashes of a good team...they'll be solid throughout. It may take a while, but it'll happen.

Things may change in a few months, but I think it's safe to say that you'll be around after this season.

    why you say that?

you would expect sloppiness out of a young team in their first real test. unc has a ton of room to improve.

a veteran osu team laying an egg should be more troublesome.

Carolina is going to lose some games this year where we all just sit and scratch our head. Roy better lite a fire under their asses in walk throughs tomorrow or they will get blown off the floor by the Cuse. If they think they can play like this tomorrow night and win, they have something else coming. The Cuse OWN the Garden right now, it's a home game for them.
  • ironman02
I didn't get to watch Syracuse tonight, but apparently they looked pretty sharp. Carolina better decide to play 40 minutes tomorrow and not turn the ball over 20 times again.

Why? Carolina is very young and will get much better during the year so I would not worry too much about them.

My view on this game and the buckeyes season so far.

    1. Ohio State has no depth. I'm sorry but Madsen shouldn't be out there at all. But then again what other Center do we have. PJ Hill & Jeremy Simmons are decent players at best. So if anyone from the Ohio State starting five gets in foul trouble, we are in trouble due to the fact there aren't any quality players to replace them.

    2. Point Guard play. It killed us in the NCAA tournament last year and it may be the same this season. Evan Turner is exactly what he is, a SMALL FORWARD. P.J. Hill doesn't have much talent but I love his heart and effort. Give him the starting PG job. If half the players 'played' the way PJ does, then Ohio State wins this game.

    3. Live by the 3 die by the 3. This is what killed us in the National Championship game in 2007. Too many 3 pointers taken and being missed. With athletic players like Turner, Lighty, and Bufford, develop a game driving to the hoop. That way we get to the foul line more and sooner or later those 3's will become wide open instead of someone like Diebler jacking it up for no reason.

4.Rebound! We were very soft on the boards. A great basketball mind told me that Rebounding is 90% effort. You gotta want it. I don't want to hear the excuse about height either because how many times has a Charles Barkley or Dennis Rodman dominated rebounding?

    5. Turnovers & Poor decesions. Yeah Turner had 10 Turnovers but that kind of over shadowed the many mistakes his teammates made through out the game as well. Way too many bad shot selections (especially bufford) and too indecisive with that ball.

I expect struggles from the Heels, but for it to take OSU 35 minutes to start playing is more of a worry for me. Thad needs to really figure out his PG spot, Turner is not the guy for the job. Turner is a great player, I love watching him play, but he is a 2/3.

Roy will straighten out the sloppiness and dumbness at the end of the game, I know he will.
