reclegend22Duke wins its ACC opener over #18 Clemson, 74-53. Leading the Blue Devils with 22 points apiece were Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith. Scheyer also dished out 6 assists and grabbed 3 steals, and shot 3-of-8 from long range.
Singler's all-around play kept Duke in the game offensively in the first 20 minutes, scoring 16 overall.
Good win for Duke, although parts were sloppy. After a superbly played first half of defense, holding Clemson's high-powered offense to just 12 points, the Blue Devils did just enough to stave off the Tigers' ferocious second-half opening. -
ironman02Good win for Duke to open up ACC play. I thought this game might be a little closer than it was, but I was pretty sure that Clemson wouldn't be able to go into Cameron and win.

swamisezWill be interesting to see how Duke handles the pressure d at Little John. Gminski made mention of how poorly Duke played against it tonight. On the road, a similar effort will likely result in an L.
Nice win tonight. 1-0 in the league. Likely headed to the top 5 of the polls. -
ohiotiger33Lol Clemson does not have a high powered offense. I figured the game would be rough, and I was right. Our team is so so so young minus Booker. Good learning experience.

reclegend22Yeah, guess you're right, tiger. I was going more for high scoring, and they are averaging about 78 a game. And when you hold a team averaging that many points to 12 in the first half of play, that's damn good.
But, not having paid too much attention to Clemson during the early season, I figured they were also up there in three-pointers per game and all that. Losing Terrence had more of an affect than I thought in that regard. Although, Young and Potter can be dangerous. -
ohiotiger33Agreed. We played about as badly as we could (credit given to Duke as well of course) for the first half. Many missed shots. I figured we would lose, and we did. What I did find encouraging was the scoring in the second half which was pretty even. Our freshman need to get that killer instinct; I am worried that aren't competitors.
That all being said, it is a game that isn't the end of the world, and I guarantee it will be closer here at LittleJohn later this month. -
ironman02Don't worry, ohiotiger33. Clemson will shoot the lights out at LittleJohn next week when Carolina comes to town. That should get the Tigers on track.
