Fantasy College Basketball '14-15 - Week 1 Discussion

Laley23I will say, if it's an unexpected absence (unreported suspension resulting in a DNP CD, pregame injury, etc) we simply score the position with the bench player (of least amount points if multiple fit position). If no one on bench fits position, SOL.
Again, my opinion. -
Azubuike24
The whole "minimum" per position was to eliminate a team playing less games and getting a padded AVG. However, say one G plays 3 in a week and another plays 0. That shouldn't count against you, so I just made it a general minimum games played of 18 per week. That's not too difficult considering we have 12 starters. However, in-theory, 6 players could play 3 games and 6 players could play 0. You aren't getting an advantage either way.Laley23;1675116 wrote:We have a minimum games needed, but we also have a minimum position needed. Every position needs 1 game played, so if you have someone in the lineup who doesn't see the floor, it should be 1 game (even if team played 3 games that week).
But that's my opinion. -
Azubuike24So, I guess something to keep in mind. To keep the integrity of the AVG, you must have 18 games per week. Again, this shouldn't be difficult as teams usually play twice a week, most weeks.

So, if my starting C gets sick and misses a game, but then plays the next game, do we score that as 1 game played or 2? What if he just doesn't play for a coach's decision? My post was in response to Mulva saying we can just take total points and total games played, as calculated by Fantrax. However, are we looking inside the box scores? Fantrax counts you as a game played if your TEAM plays, even if you don't.
This is how I feel. I was thinking about the minimum games for a position. If you have someone that is in the lineup but doesn't play all week then I say it counts as 1 game like Laley said.Laley23;1675116 wrote:We have a minimum games needed, but we also have a minimum position needed. But that's my opinion.
And for what you said Azu, if a guy plays the first game of the week but misses the second game due to injury or whatever then I think that should just count as 1 game, not as 2. It might take a little extra work but if a dude misses a game for any reason it shouldn't count as a game IMO. -
Laley23I like the position mandate because of the scoring differential between G then F then C. Each position should have to be calculated. Otherwise, we could simply bench our bad players and or pick up a guy who doesn't play and insert them into the lineup, etc.
-
Azubuike24Even with 18 total games minimum? Especially since there are very few times where a player plays 3 in a week (preseason tournies only). It makes it nearly impossible to have a spot play 0 games.
-
Terry_Tate
Yeah, there should still be a minimum of 1 game played per position even if it's 18 minimum total IMO.Azubuike24;1675140 wrote:Even with 18 total games minimum? Laley23
Huh? We have 12. If you luck or deliberately, get no games out of your center position, you still easily will get 20 games from the other 10 spots most weeks...covering the 18 minimum.Azubuike24;1675140 wrote:Even with 18 total games minimum? Azubuike24What are you going to do, NOT start a center? I mean you still have to put 2 players in there. What are the odds they don't play at all? This is the whole thing with the "illegal lineup" stuff. You have to fill each spot.
I think the only setting you can adjust is to make it like, 2 games minimum from C or 4 games minimum from G. Meaning, your 4 guards combined had to play 4. You can't do it per spot, just position. -
ohiobucks1Im still confused on what is even going on
-
ohiobucks1Im allowed to pick up players?
-
Azubuike24Just talking semantics.
And yes, you get 3 moves for the whole season. Go for it now if you want... -
ohiobucks1'why only 3? Shouldnt we be benefitted by being active on the waiver wire?
-
Terry_TateWell, apparently all this stuff matters right now because Kadeem Jack didn't play today, son of a bitch, lol. I didn't know he has a hurt hand, hopefully he plays this week.
As for Fantrax it didn't count his game today, so it looks like it does that part right I guess. The only question is if he doesn't play all week now what happens? I think it should count as 1 game played(to meet the position minimum) and I get 0 points for it, so it just kills my average. That's what you were thinking should happen too, right Laley? -
Azubuike24
I don't really know how to answer this, but you also are new this year. We kept moves to a minimum to make it more unpredictable and the draft picks more important.ohiobucks1;1675211 wrote:'why only 3? Shouldnt we be benefitted by being active on the waiver wire? -
Azubuike24
You're right, TT. You had 4 guys active today but it shows only 3 games played. So, it looks like it's going to address if a player literally doesn't get into the game at all.Terry_Tate;1675214 wrote:Well, apparently all this stuff matters right now because Kadeem Jack didn't play today, son of a bitch, lol. IMO, if this is the case, we should stick specifically with the total points in Fantrax / total games played in Fantrax. -
IliketurtlesLol damn it took me like 3 times of reading the conversation you guys had about stuff last night to finally piece all together... I am fucking tired.
Also like Terry Tate... my Center who didn't play isn't showing up as playing a game.
I finally got clarification he was suspended by the team for their opener for playing an impermissible summer league game lol. He is supoosed to be available for their next game so I should be good to go with my lineup with whatever we decide to do. -

Lol come on. We had this argument last MONTH when piecing all the rules together. Don't just now add your opinion when you just stated you don't really know what is going on.ohiobucks1;1675211 wrote:'why only 3? Shouldnt we be benefitted by being active on the waiver wire?
I have no clue either, which is why I'll stay out of the debates and just play. -

Dude I've ignored 90% of what has been said in the draft thread. I was too busy trying to figure out when my picks were up. I was just wondering why the 3 limit was set. Maybe next year you guys can change it so that there is more of a FF feel.SportsAndLady;1675260 wrote:Lol come on. We had this argument last MONTH when piecing all the rules together. Just once can someone explain what is going on here. Is it average or total team score I should worry about? I'm going to lose to Mulva anyways. -
Laley23
Average. The head to head on the website is a default setting. Its irrelevant. Dont pay attention to that.ohiobucks1;1675313 wrote:Just once can someone explain what is going on here. Is it average or total team score I should worry about? I'm going to lose to Mulva anyways. -

We dont like that, because in CBK, you have freshman who break out and way to many unheard of guys who blow up. Everyone could have a team of 12 all conference players if we allowed that. Not nearly as much fun. Draft your team, make 3 changes, and thats that.ohiobucks1;1675312 wrote:Dude I've ignored 90% of what has been said in the draft thread. So you wait until a week into the season to ask why it is the way it is? Lol sorry I don't mean to take it out on you, but people in my fantasy football league do this shit all the time. We sit down and vote on important issues and then a week into the season the person who didn't talk much, asks why a rule is a certain way.ohiobucks1;1675312 wrote:Dude I've ignored 90% of what has been said in the draft thread. Exactly. As you see, you can SET a legal line-up, but could get away without playing a shitty player you drafted (most of us are gonna have guys we dont want playing to kill our average). Insert a guy who fills the lineup, but wont play, and then wont hurt the average.Terry_Tate;1675214 wrote:Well, apparently all this stuff matters right now because Kadeem Jack didn't play today, son of a bitch, lol. Every position of the 12 should have to play a game, unless the circumstances I laid out earlier take place when we allow the bench player to fill in and take their lowest game (or average for the week, whichever you guys want).
I know nobody is gonna take this method, but it just prevents it from even being a possibility. Too much money on the line this year!!!
