What is OSU's recruiting class looking like?
-
TinkertrainFreshman Forgiveness is a wonderful thing at Ohio State.
Duron falling on his face academically however is a indicator of a bigger problem with his attitude. Given the amount of help available to these kid's it takes a concious decision to be ineligable. -
PreacherI wouldn't worry about dad I would worry more about what Mamma had to say to him.
-
darbypitcher22that was probably a pretty good verbal lashing as well.
It will take a little while to turn around but I'm confident he'll do it. He knows who his father is and what he did as a Buckeye -
WriterbuckeyeI really, really hope you folks are right -- but the atmosphere he grew up in TO THIS POINT didn't help keep him eligible. I'm not sure why you think all of a sudden mom or dad is going to turn him around now. He's not under their roof like he used to be, so the task becomes that much more difficult.
Again, I hope I'm wrong and you folks are right -- but I'm not counting on him to be in the receiving corps at this point. There will be some redshirt and true freshmen with a golden opportunity this spring and next fall. -
darbypitcher22I dont know how much interaction you've had with Duron, and, let's be honest, I've had none, but my dad coached Cris when he was in HS and has known him a long time. Cris will turn it around

PreacherDuron may miss spring ball but he will be ready for the fall.

Can I have your autograph??? -
darbypitcher22How about you fuck off

Dude, I was impressed with the lineage of your dad coaching Chris. Since I don't know your dad, you're the next best thing. I thought that was a pretty cool story.darbypitcher22 wrote: How about you fuck off -
thedynasty1998Real cool story. I think my dad played against a couple future NBA players back in his day.

QuintRumor is that Rocco Pentello is transferring to Ashland. . . frees up one more scholarship.

He never saw the field and never should have been offered a scholarship in the first place.....Quint wrote: Rumor is that Rocco Pentello is transferring to Ashland. . . frees up one more scholarship. -
j_crazyis lamar thomas transferring?
-
darbypitcher22That was a token offer for Rocco, he should have known he wasn't going to play QB @ Ohio State, which is what he wanted to do and wasn't going to play safety either. Undersized to play @ both positions IMO

Yes if the news hasn't changed.j_crazy wrote: is lamar thomas transferring?
He didn't even see the field against Oregon which leads me to believe he already informed Tressel of his wish to transfer. He would have been atleast returning kickoffs.
I have a new recruiting thread with all the top possibles and who goes where. -
j_crazydammit I thought thomas was a stud coming out and was really hopeful that he'd succeed at OSU. I hope he does well where ever he ends up.
-
darbypitcher22I don't think losing him will hurt us a whole heck of a lot, to be honest.
-
j_crazyprobably but of that class he was a guy that i was really high on.
-
darbypitcher22he was a guy a lot of people were high on; for whatever reason, it just didn't happen for him

Under-sized and under-talented.....darbypitcher22 wrote: That was a token offer for Rocco, he should have known he wasn't going to play QB @ Ohio State, which is what he wanted to do and wasn't going to play safety either. Undersized to play @ both positions IMO -
devil1197Thomas has speed but it never showed on the field. OSU gave him opportunities on kick offs but I don't think he broke one more than 30 yards. If you cannot return kickoffs, what makes you think they'll incorporate you into the offense.

darbypitcher22^^^^
Good point. -

He did play vs Oregon. He was a WR on the play where Ballard made his crazy catch and he was also on some kickoffs (even though he didn't end up returning any of them)devil1197 wrote:

Anyways, he'll probably go to Maryland. -
darbypitcher22yeah, because that will be a great situation for him. Let's transfer from Ohio State(who won a Rose Bowl, eventhough you didn't play as much as you'd like) to 2-10 Maryland which may not be any better next year and may lose Ralph Friedgen at the end of next year...

But look at it from a personal perspective, it's his home state. It's where his girlfriend is going next year for school. He has former HS teammates that play for the Terps. And with Maryland being so crappy, he'll get a chance to play where at OSU he'll probably keep getting passed up on the depth chart...especially since Fields and Jackson are coming off RS years and James Louis and Tyrone Williams come to OSU next year.darbypitcher22 wrote: yeah, because that will be a great situation for him.
