Notre Dame might be in some trouble...

    That's who cares
I stated I don't care if ND vacates wins; it happening and it not happening has the same effect of being entirely irrelevant to college football. This isn't the 1970's anymore; ND is irrelevant.

I've finally figured it out- Sleeper is Rick Reilly! Must be tough sledding out there Rick

this is the new normal for college football and it is not sustainable as long as we want to consider it amateur. Notre Dame is no different from every other school trying to field a winning DI program - you have to take chances on less than desirable characters if you want to win.

Who gives a shit if they're cheating? The important thing is that ND has finally joined the herd of schools sporting uniforms that look like ass.

You know that's just for the Shamrock Series game right? And not for all year? They wear an alternate uniform once every year...and all of them (except for last year's) have been pretty rough to look at. I personally think this is one of the better Shamrock Series uniforms they have done. Still doesn't top last years, but it's good.

As for the players, I'm hearing rumors that 3 of the 4 may be cleared for any wrong doing. Rumor is they wrote the paper and a girl fixed punctuation, etc. for them. Still not quite right, but nowhere near as bad as the initial thought was on this whole thing.

So the anomaly is fixed punctuation? Hahaha!!!!!! Right.

Be honest with yourself here, what do you think the chances are that's what actually happened?

It must have been too many correct punctuation marks in each of their papers to have been noticed.

I doubt that's all it is. But it may not be as bad as a girl writing a paper start-to-finish for the players. Davaris Daniels denied doing anything wrong. He said he wrote his own papers, and would email them to his dad and ask for help fixing them up. Is that cheating? Some might say yes. But if so, then just about every college kid cheats. I saw an interesting quote too because they said that Daniels is being investigated for the past two years. He was suspended from school for a subpar GPA for the Spring semester. So if he was cheating, wouldn't he have had better grades?

Bottom line, I think it's crazy it got this blown up before they even determined if these guys actually did anything wrong. No matter what happens now, people won't believe it to be true if the school reinstates them. So people are always going to think these kids are cheaters even if they didn't actually cheat.

Well, case closed. Sounds legit to me.

Stupid people cheat. Stupid people also end up ineligible. Maybe he didn't cheat enough Spring semester to remain eligible but in past semesters he did? Maybe he cheated in one class but then unexpectedly failed another he wasn't cheating in? Do you think those are more likely, or it's more likely that this whole investigation is based around punctuation correction and peer editing of rough drafts?

Shit, when I was in college I used to email my professors for direction and edits on papers before I turned in final drafts. We also had a writing lab on campus where people's job was to help you edit and fix your papers before turning them in.

Sure. Sounds like he's just bullshitting. But he also says he has the emails to prove it. Which is what Notre Dame is looking at currently.

I think the most likely thing is that this whole investigation is based around the administration being tight asses and getting wind that some of the players are cheating. They self-reported the possibility and pulled the kids from practice while they investigated what really happened. While starting the investigation, it leaked out and then became a huge big deal where rumors started about having 22 former and current players being investigated (which isn't true) and a girl fucking the players and doing their work and then getting mad 2 years later and turning them in. And it's also likely that if it's found that these guys didn't cheat, they will always be labeled as cheaters because of this investigation.

I don't want to get into everything else with this issue but I agree with you on the above. I'm not the best writer so the majority of the time I would take my papers to the "learning center" on campus where people checked and editted papers. I'd assume pretty much ever college has something like it.
  • SportsAndLady
Yep I'm sure these scholar athletes took their finished papers to the learning center for spell checks.

    Nothing to see here, folks

Let's just say ND finds a way to clear them...how many minutes later before lotz is back??

I lol'd. Not as good as his daily "Why your NFL team sucks" columns, but still had some good moments.

That was pretty good. I lol'd at some of it too. I also love that it was filed under, "Trolling Notre Dame."

We've got 31 reasons to think we may not be in trouble... at least not for another three or 4 weeks :)
