  You know, I generally try not to get into these threads with the Buckeye-haters, as I find they generally are irrational and incapable of reasoning at any level beyond pure base emotion...but this prevailing sentiment that Ohio State somehow has "something to prove" on the national stage always leaves me incredulous.
  This ridicule by the anti-Buckeye crowd only highlights the fact that OSU, despite the bowl losses in previous years, have indeed put themselves in the very position to be in some of the marquee games of the decade clearly because of the quality of the program and the coaching.
  
  In the big picture, you have 3 national championship appearances with one title, an excellent match-up against a quality Texas squad last year, 3 straight bowl wins after the National Championship team, (including, you might remember, a win over ND at the Fiesta in '06), not to mention the current ongoing streaks against tsun and of Big Ten titles. This does not demand any need to prove oneself on the national stage in any way whatsoever, nor any need to somehow redeem the program in the eyes of the national media, or the haters. The Bucks success in the decade leaves them in the company of few other programs (clearly Florida, USC, Texas), and Tressel and his staff and players have nothing to prove...especially not to posters with much more pressing and dire problems with their own programs in South Bend and Ann Arbor.

  I usually don't like to complain about penalties, but we were getting held like crazy out there. I saw about 4-5 different occasions when there was no call, and a player broke the play for a first down, or got quality yardage out of it. It was upsetting.
  
  Luckily, the officials didn't really have any effect on this game though, and overall called a fair game, I think.
  
  Although, I was pissed at how every big play OSU had was reviewed, but Oregon had maybe 1-2 plays reviewed by the booth.

  This is the first big game since 2006 Michigan game that OSU has not only DOMINATED, but made the big plays when we had to. Ballard's big catch, and running out the clock at the end and not punting were amazing. It was a "finally" feeling for that and a long time coming. And seeing Pryor actually throw good passes and scrambling/plowing over defenders was unreal! Go BUCKS!

  Man oh man did Herbie look like the total ass he is on that play. He went on and on about how if the DB doesn't turn around, the refs will "call it every time".

  In my short time here, I feel I have been pretty fair with the ND program as a whole. However, it amazes me that they can consistently talk about the virtues of a ND education, coupled with the religous aspect of it, then come on someone's thread and act like complete dickheads!
