Rose Bowl: #8 Ohio State vs. #7 Oregon - Ohio State wins 26-17

  The Oregon defensive game plan was ill-conceived. Make Pryor throw the ball. Not only ill-conceived but Tressel knew what it would be. Oregon made no adjustments. If they had moved a couple of players out of the box, the Ohio State power running game would have been unleashed.

  Don't be silly!! Surely you aren't so doltish to suggest that early in the season Pryor was ready to do what he did today. HELL, he wasn't ready at mid-season, witnessed by the Purdue game. Early in the season he was still playing like a Freshman. Today he played like a Junior. A HUGE DIFFERENCE. Tressel did what was necessary after the Purdue game to win a Big Ten Title. Today Pryor was ready, so Tressel did what was required to win the Rose Bowl. Based on what he knew Oregon would do defensively.

  He's a "tad" to short. Who in the hell wants a 5-10 QB?? He's not a QB, he's a running back attempting to play QB. A 5-10 running back playing QB, is going to have problems against a very good defense. As was witnessed today. Gimmicks can only take you so far.

  Ohio State has 16 starters back, Oregon has 18 back. Maybe Ohio State and Oregon will play each other again next year. In the BCS Title game.

  Masoli and the Ducks WERE able to move the ball - when they had it. If the time of possession had been equal, the outcome might have been different.
  
  Unlike many games this season, Pryor and the OSU offense were able grind out minutes as well as points - it's the first time I've ever seen them really do a good job of running a possession-type offense in a long, long time. Pryor mentioned in the post-game that he felt that he had gained as much in post-season practice as had since coming to OSU - if he has learned to go through his reads and follow through, look out Big Ten.
  
  Missing out on bowl games - and the extra practice time - two years running has to be ripping the life out of the Wolverweenies.

  I think we should try to schedule a home and home with Oregon after the Tennessee series that's scheduled for 2018/2019... that would be one hell of a thing to see. Oregon has to be the favorite in the Pac 10 next year. the Ducks moved the ball on short fields that we gave them with some really shitty kick coverage and when we didn't tackle by bouncing off of people. The zone read didn't burn us a whole hell of a lot, and except for the Jet Sweep(they could have run that every play and we woudln't have stopped it) and the screen when they got blockers out there I thought our defense played pretty disciplined football

  Oregon had 10 possessions and 7 of those 10 drives they had 5 plays and out.
  
  I wouldn't exactly say that they were "moving the ball".
  
  They only had 2 drives in which they moved the ball well, one was a 52 yard drive that ended in a field goal, and another was a 53 yard drive resulting in a TD. Their other TD came off of a 30 yard drive.

  A lot of that had to do with the OSU denfense and the coaches game plan.....

  According to Rock Knutne it was the "phantom" facemask call that lost Oregon this game. LOL
  
  Buckeyes looked great. Pryor had some flashes of actual quarterbacking. He was making some zone reads in the second half. Could be his breakout game. Nice win Bucks, Top 3 team pres-season next year.
