MARCH MADNESS 2014 - NCAA Tourney Thread

Rice should leave. Cause if he sucks again, he will be fired lol. Might as well extend the career a little longer!

That is one interview that I'm assuming UNLV fans hoped their coach would nail.

Shaka on the Strip would be awesome. Rumor is that Smart would've been first on UNLV's list of targets.

Well, I still could of won if Michigan had pulled it out today - not a good last 4 days for me, fortunately the teams that could have hurt me didn't advance and I wound-up with a decent payday.
  • Laley23
Not that Smart really has inroads recruiting programs and such, as he doesnt have "his pick" of just anyone in Virginia. But, thats a long as way to move for a program that is still a Mid-Major...
  • reclegend22
My suspicion is that UNLV didn't want to jeopardize Rice's incoming recruiting classes the next couple of years and was willing to give the guy another window of opportunity to prove he can get it done. Once those players get here, it will likely be a different story. Win or you're out.

    Rooting for wisky/uconn

I say you are, more rooting against an all SEC showdown between Florida/Kentucky.
  • Ironman92
I'm just rooting against Calipari at this point.... But I don't mind any of the UK players.

Between UConn, Florida and Wisky I'll likely lean towards Wisky as the games get rolling.
  • Azubuike24
I don't want to see a UK/UF rematch either. They beat our ass twice and the third game was a barnburner. It's amazing that Florida would have the pressure of winning 32 in a row AND beating UK 4 times in one year...but all the pressure would STILL be, like always, on UK.

That would be one hell of a game. I think UK would win it because beating a team as good as Kentucky 4 times in one year almost seems impossible. Kentucky would have nothing to lose IMO.

This would've been terrible. I'd probably go to the ATM, withdraw $20.00, purchase the cheapest bourbon I can find and start drinking the entire bottle on Saturday April 5th at 6 PM. I'd proceed to sleep until Tuesday morning and not watch a single minute of the Final Four.
  • Laley23
I actually wouldve loved that FF, but I also disagree with this year being bad. I think the games should be great.
  • Azubuike24
Cuse vs MSU would bore the shit out of me. Creighton/Duke would be exciting to watch, but IMO, NONE of the possible final games there except Duke/MSU would be exciting.

Dude, just retire from this forum. You clearly don't watch the sport after this comment...

Agree, except Dougie makes any game watchable, imo lol

LOL. Wisconsin, who probably has the best offense in basketball, plays a slow paced 50 pt game. Jesus, CC, you are dumb as rocks.

It is 2014, Bo adapted this year.

Also, barring they win the title, I'd venture to say that UK will loss 3 or less players to the draft this year. Who those 3 are is a mystery, other than Randle who is a foregone conclusion.

Before the tournament I thought the Harrison twins would stay, but I think they're gone.

    Randle
    Harrison
    Harrison
    WCS
    Young

Honestly have no idea but I'd guess those 5 are gone.

    Who is staying?

    I cant see Randle (Obviously)
    WCS
    Young
    Harrison who can shoot

Staying. Wouldnt be surprised to see Poythres leave either.

Yeah, Creighton would've been awesome at the Final Four. I also would've greatly enjoyed watching Duke lol.

The Final Four we got has the potential to be great. In a Final Four of rematches, Wisconsin vs. Florida is the one I most want to see. A win over the Gators would cement Bo Ryan's legacy as architect of one of the all-time great tournament runs, beating Arizona, Kentucky and Florida along the way to his first national title. That's a brutal stretch when you also factor in pretty good second and third round opponents in Oregon and Baylor.
  • Azubuike24
If they somehow win the title, all of them will go (Randle, Young, Cauley-Stein and the twins). Just a feeling though. If they fall just short, just like Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones did as Freshman, I can see that as a selling point for another run next year.

It's pretty clear that with some development, both Marcus Lee and Dakari Johnson can be VERY GOOD next year. Karl Towns and Trey Lyles are very versatile big men who are both very good offensively. Devin Booker is a fabulous 2-guard who can shoot and Tyle Ullis is a pure-passing, team first PG. Add the twins to that mix along with Poythress and you have a pretty scary AND balanced 9.

At least, I speculate this will be Calipari's selling point after we see what happened when Jones and Lamb came back another year. Neither really hurt their draft stock either...in-fact, both probably kept it the same. You also have to figure that this year's draft is deep and the spots in the first round, with so many early declarations, are very shaky. The Harrison twins are both guys who could greatly improve their stock...even with this great NCAA run.

    PG Andrew Harrison
    SG Aaron Harrison
    SF Alex Poythress
    PF Trey Lyles
    C Dakari Johnson

Tyler Ullis (PG), Dominique Hawkins (PG), Derek Willis (SF), Devin Booker (SG), Marcus Lee (PF) and Karl Towns (C).

That's how I see it if they don't win it all.

Izzo is a top 5 coach in the game right now and a top 10 coach all time. He's also never lost to Mercer in the 1st round like other clown coaches.

I think most would agree. Does that imply he wouldn't go to the NBA though?

    Payne, senior
    Appling, senior
    Harris, NBA

Quietly, the Izzo recruiting isn't all that hot lately outside of snagging Harris. It hurts even more next year when Dawson and Trice are gone.

I don't think he leaves, but it IS a plausible and not far-fetched idea...

Izzo will leave WHEN he wins his second title. I think Izzo is bound to get another one before he's done.
