That's fine. And when none of potential 3 win the championship?vball10set;1598338 wrote:With all due respect, wtf does that have to do with the Big 12? and you do realize the B1G could have THREE teams in the FF, right?
Stop rooting for a GD conference. It's not football. Basketball is about teams, not conferences. -

That would be embarrassing if it was Florida vs. 3 B1G schools, and the gators won it all.wildcats20;1598343 wrote:That's fine. And when none of potential 3 win the championship?

Oh, the irony...and for the record, I could give a shit about the conference, but all we heard all season was how the B1G was down...so it got a little vindication this weekend.wildcats20;1598343 wrote:Stop rooting for a GD conference. Florida is a better team(in my opinion of course) than all 3 potential B1G teams. So I don't agree at all.ernest_t_bass;1598344 wrote:That would be embarrassing if it was Florida vs. 3 B1G schools, and the gators won it all. -

It's OK to root for conferences when the B1G is involved, and them turn around and give the SEC shit for it in the fallSportsAndLady;1598329 wrote:You sound like the sec idiots in football. Just stop

Is he? Or is that an anomaly that puts him in elite company?reclegend22;1598205 wrote:Izzo is glorified entirely too much for that stat about taking every recruiting class to the Final Four,
Again, let me be clear since you simpleton's have trouble processing....Izzo only has one title so he's not elite. That's fair. But he's been to 6+ Final Fours, which makes him elite. -
Fly4FunRooting for a conference is dumb no matter what sport. A team or two at the top does not = strong conference. It means it had a couple good teams (it does not say anything else about the other teams).

Ironman92The Wisky/Zona game was excellent but the ending sucked several different times. The charge call was horrendous....call nothing and let them play it out.....the 5 min decision on the out of bounds call.....then with 2.3 seconds the dumbass takes 3 dribbles and elevates before shooting???? Moron. 1 dribble per second, way to give yourself zero chance.
Great matchup it was. -
GOONx19Someone else mentioned it once, but how do they let Gordon get away with defending the inbounds pass literally a foot over the line. If that turnover would have changed the outcome after what, if I'm not mistaken, should have been by rule a technical foul, there would have been so much outrage after the game.

I agree. Give yourself at least a chance to win the game. It would've really sucked for Zona fans had that last shot gone in.Ironman92;1598381 wrote:The Wisky/Zona game was excellent but the ending sucked several different times. And I am pretty much in agreement with everyone else that there should have been a no call at the end, instead of a charge. He missed the shot anyway but still just let it go, play on. -

Wait, weren't you doing the same sort of thing, talking about how the Big XII was toughest and it wasn't close?SportsAndLady;1598329 wrote:You sound like the sec idiots in football. Just stop
Well, until the Big XII got completely eliminated in three rounds, at which point, that sort of "conference-bragging" apparently became taboo. But still... -

Nobody here is claiming that Izzo is not elite. He's just not an all-time legend in the same sense that guys like K or Roy Williams or Jim Calhoun or Rick Pitino are.gut;1598366 wrote:Is he? Or is that an anomaly that puts him in elite company?

Marv Levy took every team he coached to the Super Bowl from 1990 to 1993. Is he and those Buffalo Bills teams remembered more for getting to all of those Super Bowls or for coming up short so many times?
What we "simpletons" are saying, you, great purveyor of knowledge and truth, is that while Izzo certainly deserves praise for getting to six Final Fours and winning a title in 2000, all those Final Fours also mean that he has come up short on his profession's biggest stage more than most. That should also be taken into account. So, yeah, I'd like to see another championship run -- other than the one 15 years ago -- before we start anointing him the next John Wooden. Tom Izzo is not some young, up-and-comer who has a whole career ahead of him. He turns 60 this year. How many more years does he have left?
What if Florida had beaten Michigan State in the 2000 national title game? How would that change your overall perception of Izzo? The game amounted to just 40 minutes of his coaching career, but a loss in that game would give Izzo zero titles in six Final Four appearances. Would Izzo still get the same level of admiration he does today?gut wrote:]I'm just not seeing a statistically significant difference between 2 titles in 7 Final Four trips and 1 title.
