I thought a 4, 5 at the lowest. Oh well.

LOL at Georgetown being listed as one of the "best teams not in." Georgetown was lucky its name was even mentioned on TV today.

    Fired John Thompson's son today.

SMU didn't belong in, but neither did anybody else. They were my last in and NC State was my first out. Coin flip situation.

Louisville as a 4 is the only real complaint, I think.

The committee making Duke and UNC lower than expected doesn't make a lot of sense giving UVA the 1.
  • IggyPride00
The West looks that much more terrible when looking at the other 3 regions. Arizona had some people really pulling for them in the committee room today.

State beating Cuse got them in.

Non-conference SOS. The committee has said it in the past. Go out and play somebody.

Compare the resumes of SMU (left out) and Connecticut (a 7-seed). Not much different...oh, and SMU beat UConn.
  • Azubuike24
So, is it "play somebody" or "beat somebody"?

Non-con SOS, UK was top 5...they get an 8. Now, they didn't beat many, but they played a ton of great teams...

And there it is. Committee chair just came right out and said it.

    Shhh!
  • Azubuike24
Yes, he said it, but it's hypocritical in many other seeds.

UNC a 6? UK an 8? Those teams played brutal OOC schedules...

That's not true either. SMU had 4 top 100 wins. Not top 50, top 100. They also had a sub-200 loss. Much worse SOS and RPI.

You didn't have UMass 2 seeds higher than UK?
  • Azubuike24
Mulva, put it this way. I hate how they cite a very specific criteria to pick "the last teams in" but don't actually reflect the rest of the seeding of the field with that same criteria. If that's how it is, then SOS should've basically determined the entire field...

So how many times has a team finished the season ranked in the top 25 and then not made the tourney (when they are eligible for the tourney)?

Happened to Southern Illinois a few years back when they had an RPI of like 27 and got left out.

My final 4 is MSU, Louisville, KU (assuming Embiid back for 2nd weekend), and Wisconsin

Overall a fair job - SMU probably should have got in rather than NC State - but they should schedule better opponents.

The West region looks to be the weakest and perhaps too much emphasis was placed on geography, but the other 3 regions seem for the most part fairly seeded.
