And second, the emails are all available to the public. Just as Tressels emails were available, why were the others (those he sent to), not? Doesn't make much sense that others were not exposed. This wasn't only an NCAA investigation, but a federal one as well. For those not to become public...many people would have to be involved in some major cover up.
maybe lhslep is the secretery for Tressel's lawyer. They always have the inside scooop.... -

And where are they going to go with it? (I was expecting you to answer my first question with this answer)centralbucksfan;1554449 wrote:The Dean of that particular college and or the person who is directly above me. Chain of command. -

Yup, and I'd assume Eugene would have been the person directly above Tressel?centralbucksfan;1554449 wrote:The Dean of that particular college and or the person who is directly above me. Chain of command. -

se-alumGot to watch it last night. Damn, Geiger was an arrogant prick with some sort of complex to feel so threatened by an 18 year old kid. Also, nobody really mentions the way Gene Wojciechowski blew up the "One and Done" story from a simple question in the context of an interview, to it being basically the entire interview. It's been interesting to see Clarett answer some questions on Twitter in the past few days.

yeah especially when he's not answering with a filter. it's been a fun follow these past couple days for surese-alum;1554510 wrote:It's been interesting to see Clarett answer some questions on Twitter in the past few days. -

I think his legacy is just as safe as Woody's was after being fired. Tressel got a standing O when he was honored during the 2002 comemorative ceremony.vball10set;1554199 wrote:^^^ok, fair enough, and good post...bottom line, Tressel's a good guy who looks out for his players, but in the end it cost him his job. I still think his legacy at OSU is a good one, but there will always be detractors (right, Tearnan?)
lhslep134;1554400 wrote:He fell on the sword for the University, not necessarily the athletic department (think very hard about this distinction).
I know this because I had an intimate conversation with the lawyer who represented Tressel in front of the NCAA during the whole ordeal (he made the briefest of appearances in 'Youngstown Boys')
I am pretty sure that a lawyer has to keep client confidentiality regardless of if it is in a legal proceeding. Also, if it was in some sort of NCAA transcript, I'd think that would leak to the press somehow and they'd run with a story that huge.lhslep134;1554428 wrote:There's nothing confidential because it wasn't a legal proceeding and it should be in the transcript of the hearing. But like I said, it was passed over (I'm assuming inadvertently) by the NCAA investigators.
I'll ask you this question to help you get a better sense of what I'm talking about: if you were a professor at OSU, and a legal issue came up in regards to a student or something that happened in class, who would you tell? -

There is a difference between confidentiality and privilege. Attorney client privilege is a more narrow subject and is in regards to legal proceedings. Confidentiality is much more broad and seems like it should cover this supposed discussion.
But I really haven't followed too much about what lhslep was saying was discussed versus what was disclosed publicly (not just between Tressel and his lawyer) so I'm not sure what exactly he is referencing. -

1) I already told you it's not a legal proceedingdwccrew;1554580 wrote: I am pretty sure that a lawyer has to keep client confidentiality regardless of if it is in a legal proceeding. 2) you being pretty sure what a lawyer has to keep confidential vs. what I know we need to keep confidential is a huge distinction -

Not sure how to tell you you're wrong without being a huge d*ck. Regardless, your point is irrelevant. What exactly are you trying to say?dwccrew;1554580 wrote: I am pretty sure that a lawyer has to keep client confidentiality regardless of if it is in a legal proceeding -

Carlee Tressel, daughter of Jim, weighs in on Youngstown Boys, but instead of discussing the film, she pens a heartfelt note to Maurice Clarett's young daughter, Jayden.
Dear J.,
I’m writing to you because of Youngstown Boys. You’re in the film, you know. We see you first as a newborn, and then at the end of the film, we get a glimpse of you tearing up the roller rink and playing on the beach.
My dad tells me that you love books and that your dad loves to read to you. It won’t be long before you can read. You’ll go to school and meet new people. Some of them will know you as you, and some people will know you as Maurice Clarett’s daughter.
There may be moments that it’s tough to be the daughter of. There may be moments when people talk to you about your dad and forget he’s one of the people you love most in the world.
Someday you will be old enough to read what others have written about him. Some of it will make you proud, and some of it will make you angry. You will be tempted to fire back. I know the feeling well. That’s the Youngstown in us, our loyal-to-the-end. In those moments, don’t take the bait. The words are not leveled against your dad, the person. They’re aimed at the persona other people see.
At heart, our fathers are not so different. They are seekers and thinkers and dads trying to do the best they can. They aren’t perfect humans but neither are we.
Someday you will watch Youngstown Boys. I hope you feel proud of your dad and the journey he has traveled. It takes guts for a person to tell his story. It takes courage to admit that our stories are always being written and rewritten.
I wish you the best as you write yours.
