No SEC bias?

carmenThe SEC doesnt play cupcakes to start the beginning of their season nor play a few games to tweek out their flaws. They get thrown in against ranked teams or conference teams right off the bat. Dont see what the problem is in scheduling OOC later in the year.
Florida plays FSU and South Carolina plays Clemson at the end of the year OOC. Its easy to find flaws in any conference. -

I do agree with this. I'd like to see OSU schedule some legit competition early in the year, like when they had those two years committments from USC & Texas.carmen;1540506 wrote:The SEC doesnt play cupcakes to start the beginning of their season nor play a few games to tweek out their flaws. I'd heard on the radio that Tressel was in favor of playing these in state teams to help them out financially. Either way, playing the Akron's & YSU's of the world, coupled with a conference that's in a down year, isn't helping their cause this year.
OSU probably can play with Alabama & FSU but I doubt we get to find out this year. -

Your first paragraph: look at their scheduled OOC games over the next 15 years.BR1986FB;1540513 wrote:I do agree with this. I'd like to see OSU schedule some legit competition early in the year, like when they had those two years committments from USC & Texas.

It's already done. We just got screwed that cal decided to blow ass in the last 10 years since scheduling them. -

Cal was a top 10 team when OSU scheduled them. They have series coming up with Navy and VTech, VTech, Oklahoma, Okalhoma and UNC, UNC and TCU, Cincy and TCU, Oregon, Oregon, Texas, TexasBR1986FB;1540513 wrote:I do agree with this. I haven't looked at it but I'm assuming it's much stronger? If so, great. I'd love to see them butt heads with powerhouses on a regular basis.SportsAndLady;1540520 wrote:Your first paragraph: look at their scheduled OOC games over the next 15 years.

They have this 4 team playoff system set up for the forseeable future but if I'm a betting man, they will revamp it to at least 8 teams. In a case like that, a one (maybe two) loss team should get into the playoff. -

Understood but then they have to play tough/conference competition....not the Big 10 cupcakes.wildcats20;1540525 wrote:SEC teams play cupcakes early in the schedule too. Don't let anyone fool you. -

We all know the Big10 is not very good. BUT, BUT in many conference ranking systems, its ranked anywhere from 3rd to 4th. Ahead of the ACC and some have them better than the Big12. Only behind Pac12 and SEC. I think its open for discussion between the Big10, ACC and Big12...but at the very least, all very close. -

Understood but at least they do have some "top" teams, unlike the Big Ten. It's Ohio State and then everybody else. Yeah, MSU looks good (defensively) but OSU will still likely spank them. I know it's "tradition" but OSU really needs to be in a different conference. It's such bullshit to hear some of these "pundits" compare their conference "strength" to bullshit conferences like the Mountain West, etc.wildcats20;1540534 wrote:You might want to check out the bottom of the SEC. -

Also, how are those other top tier programs in the SEC fairing against Bama? Not so good. Great teams separate themselves from good teams. And we are seeing that with Bama, FSU, OSU and Baylor(although I'm not sold on them). OSU has more/better talent than any team in the B1G, they SHOULD be spanking the other top teams in the league. -

Not really how it works though. Plus, with the playoff system coming up, SoS for a team like OSU isn't as important as it is now.BR1986FB;1540544 wrote:Understood but at least they do have some "top" teams, unlike the Big Ten. Also, conference strength is cyclical. The sec is having a great, historic run. But it's not like they're gonna win the title every year until 2045. -

These. It's going to be tough to take anything he says about college football after a comment like that.vball10set;1540551 wrote:lol
OSU will be fine going forward. Conference strength is never the same for long. And as bad as everyone wants to make the B1G seem, it's still at worst the 4th conference at the moment. -

Wisconsin really is an 8-1 team after the BS @ ASU. MSU really should be undefeated but they blew a game against ND.BR1986FB;1540544 wrote:Understood but at least they do have some "top" teams, unlike the Big Ten. That's fairly comparable to the "top teams" in the SEC like Auburn and A&M. The SEC East is an absolute joke. -

Its hard to argue with SEC when they do what they do in bowl games. But the fact of the matter is, they have won what, last 6/7 national titles? Right or wrong, that alone carries their arguement.sleeper;1540680 wrote:Wisconsin really is an 8-1 team after the BS @ ASU. MSU really should be undefeated but they blew a game against ND.

So let me guess, OSU scheduled Cal during the one year they finished top 10? The AP poll site only goes to 2002 and Cal has only finished top 10 once. You act like they were a common top 10 team.LJ;1540524 wrote:Cal was a top 10 team when OSU scheduled them.
