2013-2014 OC Fantasy College Basketball Roster Thread

Azubuike24Bird is the Freshman I thought was the sleeper of the draft.
-
reclegend22I had never wished an injury on a player before in my life, but I did this year. Like Laley said, though, I'll probably never actually get to use Bird's points. That's why tracking them (as long as Wood is out) is going to be a big tease.
-
Azubuike24We need to tighten this sub rule, IMO.
For instance, if you pick a sub, he's automatically in for the next week. Regardless if your player returns.
So, if McGary doesn't play today against Iowa State, he's officially out for me next week regardless if he plays. -
Pick6so how would I go about adding a new guy for Jarell Martin, seeing that he has no stats from last year?

So I at least get to use Jabari Bird for one full week, since Wood was out during UNLV's last game? -

Do what I did -- since we're still in the first week -- and just select any freshman in the country (at same position or any position if Martin is utility).Pick6;1537473 wrote:so how would I go about adding a new guy for Jarell Martin, seeing that he has no stats from last year? -

Why? There is NOTHING confusing about it.Azubuike24;1537467 wrote:We need to tighten this sub rule, IMO.

We wanted to have people be true to their rosters and you are completely doing the opposite by that. You get your player drafted stats if he plays in a week. I am 100% for that. Dumb to do it any other way since we voted against dropping players. -
reclegend22I am probably being biased here, but I agree completely with Az on this. Lol.
I say we group vote. -
Laley23
I am completely against it. I dont understand why we would do it that way. Its not like there is anything confusing about the way its set up now, and it keeps us truer to the drafted players we have.reclegend22;1537474 wrote:Great!

reclegend22But whatever is fine. I was a big proponent of "playing with your roster," so I guess I have to live with my stupidity.
-
Laley23
Of course you do, but no offense, thats your fault for taking a risk on a completely unproven player lol.reclegend22;1537480 wrote:I am probably being biased here, but I agree completely with Az on this. Lol.

Why would we allow a subbed player to be used if your drafted player returns? We arent allowing any other way to get out of using our drafted players why allow this? Not to mention, its different if he is injured mid week. We are tied to drafted player if he plays in game 1 of 2 but NOT in game 2 of 2?? Its stupid. -
Azubuike24This is what we need to figure out.
Does a guy have to miss a whole week or just the most recent game to be subbed out? If it's the latter, then when you select the sub on Monday (or before), you get that guy the whole week regardless of if your original player comes back.
So yes, you would get Bird the whole week.
Pick6, since Martin missed a full game, you can name a sub. Since it's so early, we can be lenient with it I guess considering Martin is a Freshman and has no prior stats to go by. Maybe another Freshman? You gotta name a sub by tomorrow and you get that guy all next week. Sounds like he won't be back for at least another week. -

I'm pretty confused by it.Laley23;1537482 wrote:I am completely against it. I dont understand why we would do it that way. Its not like there is anything confusing about the way its set up now, and it keeps us truer to the drafted players we have.
I'm pretty confused by a lot of these rules to be honest. -
reclegend22
See my post above. Despite the new rule helping me immensely, I agree that it's my fault for taking such a risk. To think that Elijah Pittman really was my other choice (had I not gone with Wood as my last pick) is beyond laughable. He's averaging 30 points per game (and over 40 points a game for our game). I deserve to lose.Laley23;1537484 wrote:Of course you do, but no offense, thats your fault for taking a risk on a completely unproven player lol.

Azubuike24Laley, I agree. That's why I want to figure it out now before next week comes and it's a clusterfuck.
Having to sub someone out should be a penalty. Not a benefit. So, the way it SHOULD be is if your player logs a single minute in a week, all his stats count. Regardless of whether he's in and out and in and out with the same injury.
So, basically, you get the subs numbers (in-full) until the original player comes back, and then you get his number (in-full). No combinations or what not. If the original draftee doesn't play, you get the sub. If the original draftee only plays some, you use his numbers.
We all agree? -
Laley23It simple.
As soon as your player is hurt, go add someone in his position. You are doing this because we never know how long someone is going to be out for. Its a conditional add and is on your roster until the drafted player is back.
If he is back as soon as the next game, great, you just use his points.
If he missed 2 games, but never a full week. Sucks for you, you get his points not the subs.
If he misses 7 games, including 2 full weeks and a half week, but returns on Sunday of week 3. You use his points for the 2 full weeks and your drafted players for the 3rd week. -
Azubuike24
Agree. The problem is that college basketball doesn't have balanced schedules and there's far less concrete knowledge about injuries and games missed.SportsAndLady;1537487 wrote:I'm pretty confused by it.

Lets get it all cleared up and move forward. It's my first time running this type of league, and although I've been in a few others, I didn't take their rules exactly and use them. I'm tweaking a bit. -
Laley23
Exactly.Azubuike24;1537493 wrote:Laley, I agree. That's why I want to figure it out now before next week comes and it's a clusterfuck.

If you have an injury, just add someone in case he is out for an entire week.
So in the case of Pick6, he gets Martins 0 for the week cause he played in week 1. He should add a player in case Martin is out all of Week 2. If he is, Pick6 gets those sub numbers. If Martin comes back sometime next week, the sub numbers are disregarded and Pick6 has to use MArtins stats. -
Azubuike24
Exactly. This is how I was thinking of it.Laley23;1537494 wrote:It simple.

My only thing is, a guy has to miss the LAST game of a week to be eligible to be subbed out. If a guy goes down on Monday, unless you can show he's done for an extended period of time (torn ACL, suspension, etc...), don't post your sub until the end of the week.
That is what confused me about the subs earlier. Rec had posted one on like Tuesday. -

So Ejim hasn't played for Iowa State...yet no one is going to tell me that one of our confusing rules means I could have subbed someone for him, instead of taking 0's?Laley23;1537494 wrote:It simple.

Not for week 1.SportsAndLady;1537501 wrote:So Ejim hasn't played for Iowa State...yet no one is going to tell me that one of our confusing rules means I could have subbed someone for him, instead of taking 0's?
But you can for week 2 if he doesnt come back. Just have to find less stats then last year for Ejim and same position. -
Azubuike24No, for week 1 everyone is screwed. Me with McGary, I'm gonna get 0. You with Ejim, gonna get 0. Pick 6 with Martin, gonna get 0. Etc. However, you can add someone for week 2, and if Ejim stays out "all his games in week 2", you get the subs numbers.
That roster change stays with you continually. Say Ejim returns midway through week 4 (so he misses his Tuesday game but plays his Saturday game), you get his week 4 totals and the sub is no longer on your team.
Make sense? -
Laley23
Ok, yeah thats fine. I posted as soon as they were hurt just because why not? But waiting till they miss their last game of the week is fine.Azubuike24;1537499 wrote:Exactly. This is how I was thinking of it.
