Notre Dame haters

38th huh? That's a hell of a lot better than I would have guessed.dtdtim wrote:
I was not the one making the original point, I was just asking a question in response to your response. I also do not think Notre Dame is irrelevant. I'm not a fan and I'm not a hater, I'm just calling a spade a spade.athlete37 wrote: And we've had more ten wins seasons lately than you'd think. I doubt as many BCS schools as you'd think have had 2 ten win regular seasons and a couple nine win regular seasons this decade
I found this info out in 5 minutes:
Since 2000:
Alabama has had 4 10+ win seasons.
Auburn has had 2 10+ win seasons and 3 9-win seasons.
Boston College has had 2 10+ win seasons and 4 9-win seasons.
Florida has had 5 10+ win seasons and 2 9 win seasons.
Florida State has 2 10+ win seasons and 3 9 win seasons.
Georgia has had 6 10+ win seasons and 1 9 win season.
Iowa has had 4 10+ win seasons and 1 9 win season.
LSU had had 4 10+ win seasons and 2 9 win seasons.
Louisville has had 3 10+ win seasons and 3 9 win seasons.
Maryland has had 4 and 1.
Miami (FL) has had 4 and 3.
Michigan has had 3 and 3.
Nebraska has had 3 and 3.
Ohio State has had 7 10+ win seasons.
Oklahoma has had 8.
Oregon has had 5 and 1.
Penn State has had 3 and 4.
USC has had 7 10+ win seasons.
Tennessee has had 4 and 1.
Texas has had 9 and 1.
Virginia Tech has had 7.
West Virginia has had 3 and 2.
Wisconsin has had 2 and 4.
What is your definition of 'not as many as you'd think'? I figured there were maybe 12-15 schools that could post a better decade end result to Notre Dame. This is 23. The list would grow longer if you added schools like BYU, Utah, Boise, and TCU.
From 2000-2008, Notre Dame sits squarely at a tie for 38th place in win percentage with Pitt. There are 8 mid-majors ahead of them.
The point? Notre Dame is far from irrelevant. But I wouldn't go so far as to say there are many other teams envious of their success during the 2000s. -

believerND, a once proud program that set the bar in college football, is now pretty much irrelevant...seriously.
However I'll give credit where it's due. ND's athletic department isn't stupid...
...but BCS management and NBC apparently are.An agreement that gives Notre Dame 1/66 of all Bowl Championship Series net revenues, means the Fighting Irish have received $4 million in payments from the BCS over the last three years, despite going 15-21 in the regular season and not qualifying for a single New Year’s Day or later bowl game. -
ghosthunterFirst off, Merry Christmas to everyone, irregardless of your team affiliation. While I'm Neutral when it comes to ND, I do feel they now have a solid coach on the sidelines. It's still going to take BK a couple of seasons, however, to bring the Irish back to repectable status, IMO.
Being a tried and true Buckeye fan, I must say that the "irrelevant" tag many OSU supporters throw at ND is a tag that is looking OSU squarely in the eyes. Being a former Marine, I have many friends and family scattered all over the country. I can tell you from talking, and arguing with them, that the Buckeyes and the Big 10 as a whole are viewed as irrelevant. When you consider our last bowl victory was against the "irrelevant" Fighting Irish in the 05-06 season, our reputation is less than stellar.
While I do feel that the Buckeyes will win in the Rose Bowl, if they once again get out coached / out played, then the only place the Buckeyes will shine is in the hearts of their fans. Much like those same Fighting Irish. -

september63Last time ND beat a Top 5 team....1993.......FSU............Top 10- 2002 Michigan and a Top 20-2004 Tennessee.
So basically havent beat a top 20 team in 6 yrs. -
athlete37It'd be a good stat, except it's bullshit. Notre Dame beat Michigan on the road when they were number 3 in 2005. Also beat a top 20 Penn State team in 06

Come on, everyone knows you shouldn't let facts get in the way when discussing Notre Dame.........athlete37 wrote: It'd be a good stat, except it's bullshit. Notre Dame beat Michigan on the road when they were number 3 in 2005. Also beat a top 20 Penn State team in 06 -

You are kidding right? In 05 Michigan finished 7-5 and unrated. In 06 Penn State finished 9-4 also unrated!! You are wanting to count wins against teams that were highly overrated in the first 3 weeks of the season? Interesting logic, since ND is overrated every year too. Until they lose to one of the service academies. -

If the shoe was on the other foot, you'd be calling those quality wins for your team. Standard Huddle protocol!september63 wrote:You are kidding right? In 05 Michigan finished 7-5 and unrated. september63It is what it is. They both finished unrated. Its an opinion thread, so if ND fans wanna go with quality wins. Call them that. I was simply backing up my stats after someone called them out as BS.

Actually, Penn State finished the season ranked in the final AP (24th) and Coaches poll (25th) following their Outback Bowl victory over 18th ranked Tennessee.september63 wrote:athlete37 wrote: It'd be a good stat, except it's bullshit. Aren't you the same guy who posted "38-24" in an attempt to reference OSU's victory over ND in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl (the final score was actually 34-20)? It's safe to say that facts aren't your strong suit. Next time you try to debate or flame......get your shit straight. -

It is what it is.....and what it is, well, is false. Penn State finished the season ranked. You might want to back your stats up with something other than bullshit.september63 wrote: It is what it is. They both finished unrated. september63LOL....I am corrected. ND beat a team that finished 24 or 25th ranked in the country!!.................However, read my fucking original post. It said................last beat a Top 20............2004-tennessee, Top 10........2002-Michigan and a Top 5-1993-FSU. Where is any othat that incorrect?

september63My original post was correct. I said 24 or 25 depending on the poll!! Nothing Ive said is factually incorrect!!

Ummm I believe the third sentence in your post is factually incorrect.... So i guess that would make your last post incorrect as well...september63 wrote:athlete37 wrote: It'd be a good stat, except it's bullshit. That's all fine and dandy. Furthermore, my point wasn't to make ND look any better. The point was that you're sitting there talking about how you backed up your stats but the fact of the matter is....your statement about 2006 Penn State finishing the season unranked was incorrect. It seems like you're trying to highlight other info that you posted to save face but that doesn't change your inaccuracy about '06 PSU. You were wrong. Your original post doesn't make your later statement about Penn State finishing unranked in the final 2006 season polls any more true. If you're going to ramble on about how you backed up your stats.....make sure your information is correct.september63 wrote: LOL....I am corrected. september63Boy!! You Golden Homers really grasping at straws now. Has it got that bad for ya? hanging your hat on 1 win over a 25th ranked team in 2006!! OK, you are right.

Since this post was before the one about PSU being unranked. This was the original post I was referring too. Facts are 100% Correct!!september63 wrote: Last time ND beat a Top 5 team....1993.......FSU............Top 10- 2002 Michigan and a Top 20-2004 Tennessee.

It appears that you're getting defensive because you got owned. My previous posts had nothing to do with making ND look better. Rather, they had everything to do with calling you out on your inaccuracies after you were beating your chest about backing up your stats.september63 wrote: Boy!! And you're talking about grasping at straws. I'm just going to start calling you Mickey Rourke. You're trying really hard to save face.....and the shit isn't working. -

That's great. That doesn't change your later post about PSU finishing unranked in 2006. You were 100% incorrect with that one, Mr. Rourke. -
september63Reread Post 73. The original debate started with that post at 10:30 this morning. Nothing about that statement was incorrect!!

And I never said that anything in that post was incorrect. However, post #63 has "FAIL" written all over it. Your argument now is that you were right in post #73 but I didn't debate that. I'm taking about #63 where you made a false statement about 2006 Penn State and them being unranked in the final polls. You're bringing a knife to a gun fight. It's right there for everybody to see - YOU'RE WRONG. Accept it and move on. -
september63Atleast we agree. ND has underachieved for a decade or more. There cannot be any arguement about this!! Regular season AND bowl games. (1-9) last 10 bowl games doesnt reflect much success.
