Crazy picks

Anyone in any pools where the people are making some ridiculous selections? I work with a guy who probably has never watched a minute of basketball, but he filled out a bracket anyways. He got the left side finished pretty well, selecting Louisville/Michigan State and Ohio State/Wisconsin for the elite eight. But I have no idea what he was thinking on the other side, where he picked (#16 seed) Western Kentucky to the final four and and has UNLV winning it.

I think it's Colin Cowherd who has St. Louis in the championship game, which is pretty ballsy.

I have the same final four as Obama. Great minds think alike :rolleyes:

St. Louis isn't that ballsy. They dominated, won both the regular season and tournament of probably the 3rd best conference in the nation.

I have St. Louis, New Mexico and Florida in the Final Four in a few brackets.

Well yeah if you have at least a few different brackets then nothing is really ballsy.

Bucknell to the S16 is my craziest pick. No other high seed winning more than 1 game. Have all 11s winning which is pretty nuts, but I love all those picks though.

Florida in the final four is my highest seed there. I just don't see anyone beating ohio state or indiana in their regions.

I have Butler in the finals.
  • Pick6
I have UM vs OSU in the finals.

Haha +1. Those who pick more than 1 bracket can't brag about any of their picks.

I have Wisconsin in the FF, and Iowa State over Miami in the 3rd round.

I mean, who doesn't do more than 1 pool?

Maybe it's just me though. March Madness is an opportunity to make money.

Obviously we all have the true prediction we think will happen, and that's likely reflective on the pool(s) you care most about.

Then again, I'm in the drudges of Ohio. The Big Ten bias is rampant, so in the pool(s) I do with those folks, why not go against the grain and not pick the commonly picked teams? Nothing is worse than being in the top 3-5 heading into the final weekend, and having the same outcomes as the people ahead of you.

I do more than 1 pool, and I use the same bracket for every one.

If I do 10 pools at $10 a piece, with 10 people in each group, if I win 2 of those I take home a profit of $80.

If I use the same bracket and my bracket beasts it, I win all 10, with a profit of $900.

Makes sense. I'm the same as each pool I have the same entry, but I guess I was refering to having 3-5 different brackets in a single pool. I've always been a "max out the allowed entries" player.
  • SportsAndLady
    Ooooh

Okay, well that isn't so bad I guess. If they allow multiple brackets, might as well.

Still can't brag about that one ballsy pick in ONE bracket though lol

Haha yeah I get what Azu is talking about. My friend's on CBS allows for 3 brackets. I always do two. 1 is my real bracket that I use for all other pools then the other I just always have Duke winning it.

Only really crazy picks I have are New Mexico and VCU in the Final Four. I also have Bucknell to the Sweet 16.

I do one and one only bracket.
    Always have, and always will.

I have been keeping track though over the years and as boring as it is.....most times if I had just picked the higher seed to win every game and then when it gets to the FF start making my picks it usually works out to have a couple more wins that way...but that is a boring way to do it

As ie always said, multiple brackets is fine for money purposes. But if you come to me bragging about a pick, that bracket better be "the" bracket. Only 1 allowed for bragging purposes. Many allowed for money purposes...

    Exactamundo.

In the crazy pick side.....Wife has 16 over Kansas....., and I pray to God it doesnt happen because I rediculed her pretty good !

I fill out about every bracket that gets handed to me. I don't brag about my picks though; I just want Ohio State to win the whole thing and for the B1G to not play like dog crap. Also love watching Duke lose to 15 seeds, seems to happen every year.

I know you're just trying to stir the pot, but I usually come out really well picking Duke to lose early. (They have won it all quite a bit, but they've flamed out early quite a bit too)

I had no idea what to do in that foursome. I could honestly see any of the 4 teams advancing to the S16. I guess for me "the bracket" is the one I entered into the money pool on here, and I ended up going Butler over Davidson to get there.

I have the opposite strategy of S&L. I'm in a few different pools, but I use a different bracket for every one (mostly the same, but I might switch what team I have winning in the championship game, for example). Diversify my portfolio to maximize my odds of winning 1 instead of going all or nothing.

As a rule of thumb, never pick Duke to the Sweet 16.

Mich St beats the buckeyes and UofM beats Indiana.

All Michigan championship game. Michigan national champs.
    Just a tad bit crazy.
