Midstate01Is every single cal fan a hippie?

It's 1 out of every 2 years exactly since expansion to 64 teams. 14 times in 28 seasons (losing to either an 8 or 9). Now at least 15 in 29.Ironman92;1412882 wrote:Well, first of all I meant 1 out of every 3 years which is close. That's 1/12. I'd take the 54-4 more seriously if the #8 seeds beat the #9 seeds 75% of the time. -

Ironman92Lol....let's just stop and agree that was the worst inbounds play ever.

Classyposter58Cal +7 and they're down by 8. I swear I may have to kill someone if they don't cover!

They called a TO, they are fouling.Classyposter58;1412904 wrote:I seriously hope Cal does not foul -
MulvaThe 2-0 Cal lead today was the only time Syracuse has trailed in 2 tournament games.
-
Laley23Well, they are fouling. I guess it helps when the refs also had Cal +7 lol
Congrats on the win -
Crimson streakHaha you got lucky as hell

Congrats on the win
On a side not here have been my bets, at $15 a piece...
VCU -7.5 over Akron
Colorado State +3 on Mizzou
Michigan -11 over SDSU
Oregon +4 on St Louis
Oregon +160
Wichita State +7 on Gonzaga
Cal +7 on Syracuse -
killer_ewokSyracuse and Cal kept trying to give the game away late. Fortunately, Cal wanted wanted to lose the game more than Syracuse did. Ugly....but I'll take it.

reclegend22Interested to perhaps see Indiana take on Syracuse's vaunted zone.
A Temple-Syracuse rematch would be great TV too. Two all-time traditions from the northeast. -
Azubuike24Conference breakdown. I'd tend to argue that come tournament time, you can throw out conference affiliation as there seems to not really be a pattern. Match-ups are more important. However, interestingly, we might have an all-power 6 Sweet 16, minus 2 teams, if seeds hold. The Atlantic 10 and Mountain West could be surprisingly absent (if FGCU beats SDSU).
Big Ten - 2 (OSU, ILL, MIN and IU pending)
Big East - 3
Pac 12 - 2
Missouri Valley - 1 (CRE pending)
SEC - 0 (FLA, MISS pending)
Big XII - 0 (KU, ISU pending)
Atlantic 10 - 0 (TEM, LAS pending)
ACC - 0 (MIA, DUKE, UNC pending)
Mountain West - 0 (SDSU pending)
Atlantic Sun - 0 (FGCU pending) -

killer_ewokCrazy. Michael Carter-Williams' house caught fire during the game last night. The good thing is that his family wasn't hurt but that really sucks.

Ok...my thought was just that there just isn't a scratch of difference between an #8 and a #9 seed. I went back to 2007 (got bored and stopped) and the #9 seeds are 14-14 against the #8 seeds. Furthermore (correct my math if I'm wrong).....if #1 seeds are 54-4 against #9 seeds....then since 1985 #9 seeds are 58-54 against #8 seeds.
Regardless, Gonzaga as a #1 seed losing in this round was the least surprising of any #1 seed losses to any #8 or #9 seed.
