ND benefitted from an easy schedule and a gimmie call against Pitt. Without that PI call they do not go undefeated.

It was a bad call, but it was also very early in the 4th qtr. There's no guarantee that Pitt puts the game away there if it's not called. It was a 14-point game and the Panthers showed throughout the 4th qtr and OT's that they could not land the knockout shot that day. I just think it's silly to point to a bad call early in the 4th qtr as a call that decided the game. Pitt had numerous opportunities to nail it down after that and failed to do so.

Also, honest question...what did ND's strength of schedule end up being ranked?

I mean really, what would you have liked him to do in those situations? The 3rd down throw to Eifert wasn't bad, it was a spot where only Eifert could catch it and if it weren't for the slight bobble its a first down and a sustained drive.
Pretty sure sonofump was on your (ND's) side on that.

Ingram and Richardson are better than Lacy, but Richardson and Lacy were not better than Yeldon was when they were in the back up role. Yeldon will likely end up being the best out of all of them. Amari Cooper is 4 TDs short of Julio Jones' career TDs after one season.

Defensively they might be a little less talented than in previous years but they are still really good.
4 potential 1st rounders, just like every Bama team in the last 4 years.

Not hard to be the best Bama QB of all time.

So the back up RBs were better this year.

Cooper is 4 TDs short (a significant amount) of Julio Jones freshman record.

Defensively they weren't just "a little less talented" there's a pretty significant drop in talent on defense this year than year's past.

Look, I'm not trying to say Alabama isn't really good. They're a really good team. No doubt. But they aren't talented enough to say the other team just had no chance becuase of how good Bama was. When you lose by 30 to this Bama team, it's because you stunk up the joint, and that's what ND did.

Then I misunderstood him quoting crimson saying Golson played well and countering that by saying he threw the ball out of bounds a lot early.

    Career record, not freshman record.

No, I don't think they have had an offensive line like this year's where all of them were draft ready at the same time.

Not the best Bama qb of all time, look up their history. We are comparing talent over the course of their current run, right?
Again comparing talent from the recent teams, lacy and yeldon are better than Richardson and Lacy and Ingram and Richardson were.

Cooper had 11 TDs this year, Jones had 15 in his three year career.

Defensively they still have a first round CB in Millner, three really good lbs that will be high draft picks when they come out, and very good defensive line depth and talent, just not as dominant as Dareus etc.

I also don't see anyone saying Notre Dame played well last night. Saying ND sucked it up takes away from how good Bama was.

I don't want to break down everything you and I said and nitpick. The point was, ND sucked it up no matter what you want to think. It'd be like me saying Florida was so good in Jan 07, that OSU simply just had no chance. NO! OSU got their ass kicked and played like shit. That Florida team was really good, but they aren't a 30 point win championship type team. Neither is this Bama team. I'm not taking anything away from Bama, I'm just saying some of your guys' quotes are so ridiculous, "ND had no chance Bama was just better." The first thing you should say is how awful ND played. Alabama isn't the '85 Bears, c'mon.

    okay.

I didn't say ND had no chance. I've said a few times they had to play near perfect and probably get a few breaks and neither happened. That is true. They played hard and not flat or listless but not well. Alabama played near perfect and got some breaks. They were also better. You saying they aren't talented as other teams is ridiculous.

Yeah. I think you can believe the Alabama hype, especially since their one loss was to a team that finished the year playing as well as anyone, but the SEC as a whole? Lol...as I'm sure this site's wonderful, intelligent, great SEC fans can agree with, both LSU and Florida choked big-time against teams from the ACC and Big East, which are considered pretty piss-poor in comparison.

I bet Saban is pissed this did not happen a week earlier go he could free up four more schollys.

The roster doesn't have to be down to 85 until camp starts. They were probably sitting at about 89 prior to this. Saban was getting too much heat over under performing players going on medical hardship, so he had to get creative.

I think it is safe to say that Basketball recruiting is a lot more shady than Football recruiting. While I don't like the idea of offering kids before they've even played at the high school level, this kind of practice is more common in basketball.

I don't like that LSU and Bama are starting to do this for football as the more football recruiting becomes like basketball, the worse it will be. It's kind of a race to the bottom.

I think that coaches shouldn't be able to offer any player until after their Freshman year of high school.
