ray small could be out of rose bowl

hahahaha at Ray Small getting drafted
  • vball10set
it's too easy,dynasty--no wonder you were the butt of so many jokes over on the dark side--now,please leave

oh,and by the way--I'm just playing the "edit and delete" game you made famous,or should I say--infamous :D
  • jpake1
Most teams will be willing to give Ray a call as a FA because his character is a big concern. A few teams will wrongly believe in him and want to take him in the mid-late rounds.
  • vball10set
    ^^I agree--just wait and see
  • jpake1
Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't draft the kid. But just like MoC... somebody with enough picks will take a chance and see if they can make a "profit" off of it.

I'll give Small his due as a decent returner and occasional big-play threat, but that is merely canceled out by the repeated muffs and questionable plays he makes.

As for his WR production, that guy had more offensive output his FR and SO seasons.

What are you talking about? What jokes? Why would I leave? And when did I make the edit and delete infamous?

I seriously think you have me mistaken for someone else. I know that you don't like me because I criticize Ohio State on occasion and you think they do no wrong, but I don't know what else?

Why are we comparing this guy to Clarret, Harvin and Cribbs?

Clarett had issues, but was a GREAT player. Ray Small is an average college player.
  • Citybuck
Small just can't seem to get it together, lets hope the backup WR's are ready.

Because guys like him get drafted in the 5th and 6th round--because he played at OSU and has great speed. Someone will take a chance on him, he'll almost certainly get drafted. Roy Hall got drafted--wasn't really any better than Small has been at WR and he didn't even have the return ability going for him.

Small is definitely going to get drafted unless teams think his character problems are THAT bad--and they might be, they're going to know the extent of it more than me. But even with that, I'd still bet he'd get drafted.

Like jpake said, I wouldn't draft him but it doesn't mean it's stupid to think someone will.

I understand that he is supposedly "talented" and I have no doubt that he'll get a shot from the NFL. But I think it will be as a free agent.

I always thought Roy Hall had more potential than what was displayed at OSU. He never really found a niche in the offense, but was a big WR that NFL teams covet.

And you still didn't explain why anyone would compare Small to Harvin, Cribbs and Clarett. The comparisons are just ridiculous. Harvin was a RB who made plays all over the field, Cribbs was a stud at QB and Clarett was arguably the best RB in the country as a freshman who got into some trouble when the season ended.

And based on a few NFL draft sites Small is rated as:
39 WR by CBS Sports and 332 overall
    39 by nfldraftscout.com
    44th rated WR by walterfootball.com
NR by draftcountdown.com (rate 41 prospects)
    NR by cfn.scout.com

    Good riddance, Ray.

We'll wait anxiously to see what excuses your Daddy comes up with for you now. I'm sure he'll find some way to blame Coach Tressel for his son's lack of character.
  • jpake1
Dynasty- If you didn't get the notion that I compared Small to MoC because of character issues, and not athletic skills, then I don't know what to tell you. You made the assumption that it was from an athletic point, which is, as you would say, ridiculous.
  • darbypitcher22
Small has just been a complete compilation of problems for most of his time @ OSU
  • thedynasty1998
No I get that. But they are completely different situations IMO. Small is a borderline NFL player at best, so there are plenty of other guys out there just like him without the character questions. Look at a guy like Garcon from Mount Union. IMO those average WR's are a dime a dozen.

For someone like Clarret, he was a special talent and a team is more willing to take a chance on him because he could have a higher payoff, and there are not a couple dozen other guys out there with his talent.

As for Harvin and Cribbs, volleyball compared Small to them, and he did mean in an athletic standpoint for some reason unknown to me.

dont matter who plays or who doesnt play for ohio st the outcome will be the same- oregon 38 ohio st 17
  • jpake1
I know he did. I also questioned that. They are pretty different situations. I get what you're saying too. Both were pretty much a waste of sperm in the brain department. But MoC was far more productive while being a dummy. I think a few teams will look at Ray and think... had JT swept most of the stuff under the rug and he never had been in the doghouse, Ray probably would have had a lot more productive career. An NFL team may bite at Ray because all he has to do is football.
  • thedynasty1998
I agree with you. I don't really know his measurements, but he might really impress at the combine. And as for his issues, I don't think any are that severe. Just a compilation of a bunch of petty things. I have no doubts that he'll get a shot from someone, I just think it will be as a undrafted FA.
  • Tiernan
Prediction > Small is thrown out of the back of a pick-up truck less than 2 yrs after being drafted.

    BINGO!!!!!!

I'd like to add that my intent wasn't to compare Small to Harvin or Cribbs in talent, but to convey that because of the way they redefined the kick returner position, that players like Small may get a chance in the NFL that he might not have had five or six years ago...IMO,someone will draft him(see Raiders)
