I don't care what y'all say, we need Small. Especially in a huge game where special teams can be the difference. Every time he touch the ball, he has the ability to score. This is huge!
I'm not sure how this claim can be made for Ray Small unless it's a claim made for every skill player on the field.

Yeah there could be a huge difference back there with Small gone. Who is going to muff all the punts back there now?

Both of you are huge idiots. But of course you guys think you're right, it's not like Ray Small was named all Big 10 Returner for the second year in a row, or that he hasn't turned the ball over on a return this year or anything. Or the fact that he had a HUGE kickoff return for a TD against undefeated Wisconsin.

But I guess those facts cloud your judgment, eh? Listen, I don't like Ray Small as a person, someone with that ability should not be in the dog house. But YOU guys are questioning his ability, which is just plain stupid.

Ohhh gosh. How does Ohio State not have a PR on the entire team?
  • SQ_Crazies
Are you kidding? The kid has been a tremendous bust since he stepped on campus. He's fast--I'm not questioning that but guess what, a lot of guys are fast. He isn't a good football player and he's clearly an idiot.

Small hasn't turned the ball over on a return this year?

Check the Illinois game 2nd quarter this year lol. He could have more but I don't have time to look.

He also multiple muffed punts recovered by OSU this year, one against NMST where he was pulled for Carter.
  • thedynasty1998
As for his punt return vs. Wisconsin, watch it. He just runs straight up the middle. More credit should be given to the blockers than Ray Small.

So I don't give him much credit for that.

He was 4th in the Big 10 in punt return and kick returns. Good, but nothing great. No matter who OSU had back there, you can count on them to be top 5 in the Big 10.

Don't forget a huge muff vs. Purdue, giving them momentum and possibly costing OSU that game.

I do wonder if those guys have something against Tressel, or if they're just incredibly un-intelligent.

Yeah, call me an idiot, but at least I watched the games. As others have already said, Small has had plenty of turnovers and muffed punts this year. Do some research
  • lhslep134
Sorry, 2 turnovers. Fact of the matter is, he was the best punt returner in the Big 10 the past 2 years, at least according to much more reputable experts than "freehuddle". Anytime you lose someone who's produced at that high of a level, in something Tressel values as much as special teams, it's going to hurt.

Yes Flash Thomas is fast, but he was given his chance to be returner, and the combination of his ineffectiveness and his lack of desire to be a returner led to Small being given the duties of returning kicks as well.

Is Small being out going to be the difference in the game? Of course not, at least, I certainly hope not but this is a bigger deal than you guys are making it out to be.

Uhm, and Jordo, I'm an announcer for the football team, pretty sure I've watched the games LOL the Purdue debacle is the only one I couldn't broadcast because I had a club golf team tournament.
  • SQ_Crazies
Ray Small sucks dude...lol just face it. He always has.
  • lhslep134
^ No, Ray Small's always been an idiot who completely wasted his chances.

So what do you have to say to the fact he's been named All Big 10 2 years in a row? Nothing? That those experts are all a bunch of idiots?

The "two turnovers" don't tell the whole story. They don't include the multiple muffed punts.

I'd watch the games again if I were you. You clearly haven't been watching the same games as us.

Ray Small wouldn't be half the problem he is were it not for his father.
  • lhslep134
Jordo, same question for you that I asked SQ. If he's so bad, then why has he been named to the All Big 10 team two years in a row at punt returner?

Good speed and great blocking. That still doesn't change the fact that I cringe everytime I see him prepare to catch the ball
  • SQ_Crazies
All Big 10 PR really means nothing. Returning punts is definitely more about blocking and getting lucky more than anything--not to mention there hasn't been a better candidate I guess? I don't know, who cares--he's won that and he plays for my favorite team and I still think he sucks...I wish I could agree with you because I wish he was good.
  • devil1197
Ray Small is #38 in the country in punt returns and he isn't even ranked in the Top 100 for kickoff returns.

OSU ranks #35 in team kickoff returns and #67 in punt returns.

Ray Small is probably the most inconsistent punt returner in the history of college football. The guy is good for at least one boneheaded play on special teams a game...that is about the only thing that is consistent about him. The fact that he was named to the All Big 10 team for two years in a row at punt returner is absolutely laughable to me and is more of a testament to his raw talent (i.e. speed) coupled with both good blocking by OSU as well as the lack of raw talent in the Big 10 than it is anything about his actual ability to return punts.

We all know that announcers are the brightest and most informed people in regards to sports. They most certainly know more than any other fan even though the fans have two eyes just like the announcer. "Announcers" can and will resort to calling others idiots when a dispute arrives, even though the "announcer" appears to be in the minority.

Oh well I guess. That's what happens when you go to the club every night....school work starts to slide and you end up making stupid ass decisions. It's not an exaggeration when I say he's clubbin' every night, either.

I wish some of the young speedsters, like Chris Fields, got some work with the KR unit this year because you just knew Ray Small would screw up again, some time. I guess we'll see Thomas back there, who is very fast but can't make anyone miss.

He wasn't suspended for acadmic reasons. He was likely suspended for failing a drug test. And I don't think it was roids.
  • vball10set
^^unless you know FOR SURE why he was suspended, don't speculate--btw,it's "ACADEMIC reasons",Einstein ;)

also, thanks to return specialists like Percy Harvin and Josh Cribbs, this kid will get drafted--prolly not until the later rounds, but he will get the call

You are supposed to space after a comma, Nikola Tesla. And also capitalization is appreciated. I love the irony in grammatical corrections when you fail to proof read yourself. What a moron.

I don't know for sure, but it's in line with the past punishments. It's common sense they get drug tested for the bowl games and suspensions are handed out if a player fails it. Plus I don't think it's the first time he's gotten in trouble for drugs.

And he is absolutely nothing like Josh Cribbs and Percy Harvin. You are joking right? In case you were dumb enough to be serious with that comment I will let you know that he is no where near the type of player as Percy Harvin and nothing like Josh Cribbs. If you want to compare him to a return man at least use someone similar.
  • jpake1
    ^^ What?

vball10set wrote: you are such an insecure lowlife--you DON'T know,so keep you mouth shut....and he is EXACTLY the type of player Cribbs and Harvin were coming out--as far as return specialists are concerned.

btw,it's nice to see your significant other showed you how to use spellcheck ;)
I really don't get your problem with me? Because you corrected my grammar, and then I corrected yours, I am now an insecure lowlife? I don't give a shit about grammatical errors when done in mistake. Sorry I don't proof read my posts like you.

You can't be serious saying Small is "EXACTLY the type of player" the others are. Are you serious?

Josh Cribbs was a college QB. Percy Harvin was a do everything. The guy played some RB.

Ray Small is a kick returner. He wasn't even good enough to crack the top 3 as a WR at OSU. I don't know if you are that dumb, or trying to be funny?

Too bad I quoted your idiot post before you went back and changed it.
