OSU @ Duke - Big Ten ACC Challenge

OSU makes a game of it IF Lenzelle Smith and Shannon Scott play well.

You blamed last years loss on the refs. You have zero credibility, but thanks for the input.

'Typical Ohio st fan always talking about the previous year."

Typical duke fan who does not have the ability to read and understand.Let me explain for you. Last year's beat down has an impact on the Wednesday game because cosch k will make sure that the returnees remember what OSU did to them and it is time for payback.

Trust me you have no idea what Coach K says or thinks! Really trust me!!!

Trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! coach k and the returnees remember every minute of that shellacking and revege is always a good motivator.

Trust me....being more motivated doesn't always lead to better shooting.

If Duke is able to hurdle Ohio State on Wednesday, thus defeating its third top three opponent of the season, (and then defeat mighty Delaware on Dec. 1) I think the Blue Devils will catapult Indiana and become the No. 1 team in the country come next week. Andy Katz made the argument today and actually cast his AP vote in favor of the Blue Devils this week. AP polls in college basketball, of course, don't mean much at this point in the year; however, it's always good to be No. 1. The people who claim it's too much of a distraction just aren't used to being there.

The fact remains that duke was embarrassed and humiliated in a way that rarely happens. Plumlee, Curry, Thornton, and other returnees want some revenge and they will probably get it. I have not watched duke, but I have watched OSU. Plumlee is going to create problems for OSU. Ravenal can't handle the size and Williams is just not disciplined enough to stay out of foul trouble.

This game will be a measuring stick for OSU. Their schedule to date has been pretty pathetic. For OSU to win they will need to match duke's 3-point production and hope the refs don't let the dukies flop around the basket. That probably won't won't happen. duke pulls away late and win s by 12-15 points.

Ahdonis pretty much nailed it this time. Duke and K are going to be out for blood. And while I suspect they will get plenty of it, Ohio State features not only one of the best scorers in the country, but also arguably the nation's fiercest and most relentless defenders. While the Blue Devils are a much more rounded team at this point in the season and are certainly more proven, Thad Matta will have his crew ready to go. Although two All-Americans from the team that crushed Duke last year in Columbus are now in the NBA, the returnees that played in that game, including the aforementioned Buford and Craft, will be extremely confident, having already beaten the Blue Devils in such grand fashion before. They already have that taste and confidence that it can be done. Do not discount that.

As for the "flopping around," whatever helps you sleep at night. Duke isn't the only team in the country who understands the art of defensive positioning. If they get away with a few from time to time and the calls go their way, then that's great. I love that result.

Would love for that to happen, actually. Of course, if IU beats UNC. I think an unbeaten IU team with wins over UNC and Georgetown being leaped for the #1 spot would be a GREAT motivator for Crean to use. "They STILL dont respect you." I would feel bad the the opponents on the upcoming schedule for the Hoosiers lol.

I haven't any rhyme or reason...but I'm not sold yet on Indiana being one of the powerhouses this season....again, I have no reason. Maybe Crean is holding me back? Not sure.

Granted 3 of them are freshman, but I think they have 6 pros and a potential 7th (Watford) as well as the best shooter in America (again, imo). Fine to have doubts, but they are easily a top 3 team on talent alone.

More of a ridiculous gut feeling.

It's obvious that Duke has a pretty powerful team once again, but we don't know that much about the Buckeyes. I need to see if the Buckeyes can hang with the Blue Devils over 40 minutes. If they can do that, then we'll know we have a pretty good team in Columbus whether they win or lose. I also think a tough game, against a tough opponent on their home floor makes you better than playing the likes of UM-KC any day of the week. I just want to see a good game that goes down to the wire. Then we'll know what both of these teams have to offer for the rest of the season.

Good lord, I hope Buford don't show up!!

OSU also only had 1 AA last year. :p

Haha, yeah me too. I meant Thomas.

And I guess I was mistaken on Buford being an All-American. I think I probably meant All-Big Ten. Whatever the case, Buford was spectacular against Duke last November.

    That'd get the NCAA's attention!

Only if a friend paid for his plane ticket to get to the game. Otherwise, the NCAA might not even notice.

Yea, but Buford was pretty terrible in big games away from the Schott though.

But, it should lead to more effort, focus, and resolve. Motivation matters.

yep....but the more effort could lead to foul trouble

Craft....no one is going to out-due his effort and Thomas is an "ice" shooter that should scare any opponent.

If OSU shoots well....they will win.

On the other hand, if Duke shoots well, and being at home, they will win.

Pretty much whoever shoots the best will win, which is typically true of any game between power teams. I am definitely concerned over Deshaun Thomas. He is a monster anywhere inside the gym. The kid was a decent shooter a year ago. He's one of the premier scorers in the nation this year. That's a transformation that must be respected.

What Duke has going for it, however, is balance. The Blue Devils have five guys averaging more than 10 per game, and Mason Plumlee has been the most dominant center in the nation through November. (My opinion, of course, but his numbers -- 19.7, 10 and 1.8 blks -- back it up.)

By the end of the year this Buckeye team might be top 10-15 type team, but they aren't now, and they certainly aren't the #4 team in the country. Not to mention Ohio State humiliated the Dukies last year and I think this one could get ugly. There is no way the Buckeyes can score enough.
