Who's the Heisman favorite now?

  • Automatik
Well my sources were wrong. I thought Miller would get an invite for sure.
  • karen lotz
Its not like there are really invites. Its determined by the vote. They'll have the top however many as long as they are getting a lot of votes. This year there are three that have separated themselves from the rest of the pack.
  • Automatik
The info I heard stated Miller was 3rd in the voting which would result in an invite. Someone was misinformed.

Johnny Football should get it over Te'o. I mean, look at the difference in forced fumbles!

The can invite up to 5, so yeah there are invites.

Could have been, but at that point there was about 10% of ballots sent in. All ballots were due in at 5 today so they have a much better idea of the voting.

Not sure which site it was today, but it showed Miller with one 3rd place vote. It was a poll of Heisman voters saying who they voted for.

We all know how those exit polls work out! ;)

LOL @ Te'o. He's not even the best LB in the country and he gets invited. Hype. All hype.

This is the best website for predicting heisman. They track all voters selections as they are posted on the interwebz. Looks like Manziel has a solid lead...

Thanks for posting what I already posted.

It'll be a farce if Te'o wins. He was not a dominant LB, he had a good story but that should not be up for the Heisman.

So 1420am here in Hawaii is the only sports talk radio here. It's pretty bad and the callers are worse. But I call in a lot(I'm sure others think I'm bad too), but today and was my first time going down to the station and being on the show. I'm gonna do it here and there as I'm going into sports admin and just love talking sports. Anyway cool story bro..

Callers from here honestly believe manti should win the heisman just based on 7 ints. When I use other stats, such as tackles for loss or overall, they just say yea but 7 ints. They also truly believe he will win because he lost people in his lives.
Now while I do think the heisman stands for more then just football, if voters vote for him just because of that, they're idiots.

That being said, he's on the #1 team, and he's a great player. He made some plays at the goalline that maybe saved ND's title hopes.

In the end I hope he wins, but only for bias reasons. Manzeil will win one, I just don't want him to win two!!

Top 8(random number) going into next season should be, IMO...

Boyd,Lee, Lynch, McCarron, Miller, Manziel, Aaron Murray and DeAnthony Thomas.

Boyd, Lynch, McCarron and Murray could all turn pro.

LOL at Erin Andrews, Skip Bayless, Jim Lampley and OJ Simpson (I know, he won the Heisman, but I dont think he watched much CFB this year) all getting Heisman votes. It looks like if you appeared on TV and uttered a phrase about college football you get a vote.

    1.) Te'o
    2.) Manziel
    3.) Klein

    5.) Lee
I had the first three correct, and I'm still hoping it's Te'o.

It's going to be Manziel (although it should be Klein).

Because Manziel wasn't on the map until the Bama game most people are completely unaware of this absolute stinker vs. LSU.

He has two L's (1 more than Klein) and had a game much worse than anything Klein ever did.

The Heisman not being awarded to the most deserving player is nothing new. I hope Te'o wins it even though I think a better case can be made for Manziel. People usually bitch about Heisman voting but I think you'll have even more complaining this year if an ND player wins it. Maybe I'm off-base with that but that's honestly what I think. You'll have the ND conspiracy crowd going off about it when in reality....it happens sometimes.

Pretty good read here. Also of note, I found it interesting (and surprising) that this guy is an Ohio State fan yet thinks neither Eddie George (who is my favorite OSU football player of all-time...and I'm far from a Buckeye fan) nor Archie Griffin deserved their Heismans (well, he thought Archie's 2nd was a gift, the first one was legit and I think pretty much everybody will agree on that).

I think the list is a good one. Completely agree that Dayne received it as a career achievement award.

Johnny Manziel is a helluva player, but IMO is a flavor-of-the-month guy. Also, I think the Heisman committee risks a lot by giving it to a freshman who is still an unknown commodity character-wise. I mean, what if he turns out to be a lying murderer who kills his ex-wife and her friend?

LOL. I know you're sorta joking but I think the whole taboo "Freshman Heisman winner" mentality needs to go by the wayside. If they think Manziel deserves it then I don't have a problem with it just because he's a Frosh. And while I agree that he is a flavor of the month type of guy....it's the right month to be the flavor. I think most will agree that this was a bit of a down year for superstars in college football. The perfect storm for guys like Manziel and Te'o to be serious contenders.

I don't think it would have anything to do with ND. It would have to do with being a defensive player that really shouldn't win it. If it was a kick ass offensive player from ND, no one would think twice about it.

Let me put it another way, I think you will see more outrage than usual by some if an ND player who isn't the most deserving candidate wins it as opposed to the amount you would hear if an undeserving player from another school won it. I don't mean that to come across as arrogant so if it does I apologize. JMHO

I am reaching, ewok, but I know what you're saying. He prolly deserves it as much as anyone, but IMO, if they're going to give it to an offensive player, Klein's the guy.

Bingo. It goes to the most popular player.

I'll go with Manziel. That way, it goes to the school with the best player in the country, even if it isn't him.
