FiradMiami up 20-14 on OU at the half. OU's defense has not looked very good today. Finally made a solid stop at the end of the half with an interception.

ptown_trojans_1On the one hand, the MAC's ranked team lost, and on the other hand, Kent St. just beat Rutgers.
My girl, who went to Miami, yelled Love and Honor. -
believerWhat blows my mind is this will most likely be the last time I'll see Ohio ranked in the Top 25.
They had a GOLDEN opportunity to kick a 99% for certain FG to send the game into OT and for whatever inexplicable reason Solich goes for the endzone with just seconds to go.
I'll never understand that. -
FiradThere was 9 seconds left. Think Solich just got greedy having a little more time than needed to just kick it. Should've just kicked it, kick off then win it in OT. Totally blew an amazing season.

There was PLENTY of time to attempt that play. Unfortunately, Tettleton's instinct to keep plays alive burnt us.
In that situation he needs to be told to launch the ball into the stands IMMEDIATELY if there is nothing open, and head to OT -
believerSolich blew it. His call. Shoulda lined up for the FG and let Tettleton take care of business in OT.

9 seconds is plenty of time to see if the route is there and if it isn't, throw it out of the back of the endzone and kick the FG. Tettleton didn't make it look any better on himself as his excuse was 'I just totally forgot'.
"One problem: Tettleton lost track of the timeouts and didn't realize Ohio had none left. Then, when he took the snap and saw his receiver covered, he lost track of the clock, too.
"I just totally forgot," Tettleton said. "That's my fault."
The sideline didn't have a chance to remind him before the final play that he needed to throw it away if nobody was open right away.
"On the last drive with no timeouts left, you don't have a chance to tell Tyler to make sure you throw the ball out of bounds," Solich said. "But with all the training, and he's so sharp and everything he's done ..."

Tettleton isn't the coach. Solich calls the shots and he made the wrong decision.Pick6;1306239 wrote:Tettleton blew it.
9 seconds from the 7 yard line means your chances aren't that great of making the TD. Had the ball been resting on the 1, I could see Solich electing to run Blankenship or even Boykin into the endzone.
But from the 7 you take the almost guaranteed FG and set-up for OT.
That's a call an experienced head coach like Solich should make. You don't defer to a junior QB in that situation. -
SportsAndLadybeliever you're just wrong here...9 seconds is plentyyyyyy of time; you absolutely call a play to try and win it in that situation.
Tettleton literally admitted he didn't realize (how...the...fuck....) they didn't have timeouts and couldn't take a sack there or the game would be over.
This is 95% on Tettleton...the only reason I don't put 100% is for Solich not screaming to him not to take a sack.
Pitiful Bobcats, pitiful. -
believerThe game was pretty much a draw. It's not like the Bobcats were dominating Miami.
The Bobcats drove down the field late but with 9 seconds from the 7....sorry I think it's insane to bank on a TD at that point.
Take the FG and let Tettleton do what he does best in OT. -
SportsAndLadyYou're not banking on a TD, you're just calling a play where if someone is open for a TD, you try it; if no one is open, you throw it out the back of the endzone. It happens all the time in football, it's not a difficult procedure to attempt or comprehend.
Tettleton just didn't realize the situation, and admitted to that.
