Who else is a playmaker? We have a bunch of possession receivers who don't catch especially well, and Hyde and Hall combined for about 6 total plays that went 20 yards or more last year (rushing or receiving). This offense lacks explosiveness in a major way.

OSU Linebackers & Safetys are terrible. The worst I've seen at OSU in a long time (LB's are nearly as bad as the '99 group) Shazier can make the occasional big hit, but also takes bad angles quite often. Christian Bryant always trys to make huge hits and ends up blowing a lot of plays because of it. The one bright spot in those two groups is that O. Johnson looks better than he has in previous years. Overall these two units are killing the defense. The Corners and D-Line aren't bad...

Good to see Jordan Hall getting some touches.

Right, he's a possession receiver. You don't have to make anyone miss when you catch the ball in the end zone.

Miller is so damn good at coming to a full stop and accelerating in the other direction.

Jordan Hall and Rod Smith looking good running the ball.
  • Fly4Fun
    That probably wasn't a touchdown.

Keep running and then hit the pass

So you are saying making a one-handed catch in the end zone is not making a play?
Smith and Philly Brown can both be playmakers, inconsistent passing by Miller is holding both of them back...
  • Fly4Fun
    I'm shocked that was upheld.

I'd go with a combo of them not being that great and Miller's inconsistency.

Smith is just hesitant when he gets the ball. He is the kind of guy that needs to just go when he gets the ball. He worries too much about trying to juke guys. He has enough speed that he can get guys to turn their shoulders and whiff on tackles.

Yeah, he does look hesitant this year. I think he has a lot of room for improvement, but to write him and Philly Brown off as not being playmakers seems silly to me, when the QB only makes half the passes to them catchable...
