I seriously forgot he still played for us. He was getting doubled a lot, but I would have liked to see him do SOMETHING.

I honestly can't recall his name being called, other than to talk about his defensive leadership.

SOS and Teirnan are in a dead heat for the oldest posters with the lamest digs.

I look for Simon to bounce back. I figured he would dominate early in these non conference games. I don't get it.

I have to assume the defenses are scheming to stop him, but like you said, against these non-con teams, he should still be making some noise.

Defense as a whole has to play tighter. No more giving up the long ball on 3rd down, and get some fucking pressure on the Qb. Simon, Hankins, Goebel, Spence, etc have to hit him early and often.

Jordan Hall will play Saturday. Not sure how much but great news for the Buckeyes.

Meyer looked pissed off the entire game. I saw him flip out a few times regarding shitty play on D. I imagine he killed them in practice this week. Someone also said he and Vrabel got into it. I haven't heard anything else about it though.

At one point during the game Meyer was yelling at Vrabel on the sidelines.

I saw UM talking sternly to him, but it appeared Vrabel was the one doing the yelling..."it's not my fault, coach!!!"-lol

I'm not sure if Vrabel is cut out for coaching. The LB's were pretty bad last year with him leading them, now the D-line has been less than impressive this year.

I heard on the coach show on 97.1 that after watching film and having a long meeting with the defensive coaches, Meyer has placed most of the blame back on the players. Said it's not a schematic or coaching issue, but an issue of players not doing their jobs.

Meh, he had little to work with last year regarding the LB'ers, and there have only been 2 games this year.

Oh, I'm not saying he needs to be fired immediately or anything radical. I am just making an observation about the lack of results so far. If the terrible d-line play (or lack of plays y the D-line) continues all year then there is definitely cause for concern.

I like the fact that he's holding the players accountable and not throwing coaches under the bus (aka Bielema)--however, if things don't improve to Meyers' liking, I definitely could see some changes made next season.

Maybe. He literally called the players "lazy" and said they weren't paying attention. Those are some pretty strong words to use, so they must have a good grip on what is happening. Just gotta figure out a way to fix it. I forget where I read it, but apparently on one play, the DB's were ignoring each other AND the sidelines and the coaches were yelling at them to shift, as well as some of the linebackers just repeating the coaches.

John Simon may be costing himself a LOT of money with the lack of performance. He's been an absolute ghost; and I'm not sure if it's entirely because of double-teams or not.

Not sure if he'd be making serious cash anyway. He will definitely get picked up, but I don't think he's an early round pic. He's the definition of a "tweener"

I agree, he's a slightly more athletic Mike Kudla.

I can see Cal making some big plays in the passing game (I know Kiper has their receiver as a top 3 NFL WR), and I don't know enough about them to make an educated opinion. I am sure Meyer will continue to work out the kinks, and OSU wins something like 34-17.

Can't wait for next year!! Wife and I are def flying into Cali for that one!!!

    I'll take osu 37-17

[h=1]Meyer wants Buckeyes players to make crowd louder[/h]
He provided a harsh assessment of his program at such an early stage."I expect much more. I expect a stadium to be an inferno, I expect players to be diving over each other to hit quarterbacks, I expect the offense to score a multitude of points and celebrating in the end zone," he said this week. "No, it's nothing close."
With California (1-1) coming to Ohio Stadium for the first time since 1971, Meyer wants the expected crowd of 105,000 to be more involved. At the same time, he recognizes his team needs to be more intense in order to light a fire under the fans.
"It's a journey, it's a marathon to get it where we want it," he said of his program. "What we've done the first two weeks is nothing close to what ... this place should be like. I think that stadium ought to be absolutely electric. I think it's been OK.
"But we need to play better. You want to get a stadium going? Go hit a quarterback. You want to really get the stadium (going)? Put a hand on a punt. That's when people come out of their seats."
Asked if he had a timetable to reach that high-voltage state, Meyer chuckled.
    "Yeah. Three days," he said.

The straight talk from Meyer is very refreshing.

Why isn't Urbie using the TE in the Off more? Most of the time they are not even running a TE set.
