Polls for September 9

They'll get torched in Big 12 play when they can't outscore another pass-happy team (Texas Tech/Okla)

I thought in the preseason they were a pretty good team. Geno smith is a very very good qb and they have a lot of weapons. If there d holds up they are a top 5 team IMO

You must've missed the part where they GAVE UP 39 POINTS TO MARSHALL. Their D is garbage.

I don't know how much of those points were against WVU's scrubs, but I'd assume quite a few.

Either way, I think they're a little overrated.

I see 3rd, fine, it is early whatever. But, 5th?

BTW, it is week 2. Nothing is settled yet.

Also saying USC will not snuff the title game is one of the dumbest things I have heard.
Look, I get it, you love LSU and the SEC, but come on, you cannot disregard the offense that is USC.
And if anyone wants to talk brainwash by ESPN, it is the SEC. We are force fed it now all year.

It is only September. Polls and rankings mean jack right now.
I would put Bama, Oregon, LSU over them. And, I wouldnt put it past UGA, OK or FSU in being better than them, but I wont put them over them yet. Not totally sold on either of them. USC is not complete. Defense wins titles. So, I would put them 4th. As for sniffing a title, I dont think it will happen. They have alot going against them. A. They always slip up at least once B. They would have to beat Oregon twice C. no depth. Injuries will kill them if they have them. D. The Pac 12 seems to be pretty tough this year.

As for WVU talk, I think they are legit.

I know I'm a UC homer, but I think they should be a top 25 team. probably somewhere between 22 and 25 right now. We had 3 votes in the preseason AP poll, beat a BCS team by 20+ points on national tv and now zero votes?!? wtf. We finished ranked last season in both polls after starting the season unranked. In fact over the last 5 years we started the season unranked every year. In 4 out of 5 of those seasons we won 10 games and finished ranked #8 #17, #17, and #25 in the AP. You'd think the media would be sick of getting it wrong year in and year out.

Actually now that I think about it.... to hell with the AP rankings haha. I'll take another 10 win season.

WVU will score all of the points this season. The D isn't great but it'll be good enough to win a lot of games.

Beating Pitt is not vote worthy

So we should lose votes for winning a game?

If there are other teams more worthy. Pitt is basically an FCS team in the eyes of the voters

Losing to Youngstown basically ruined their season.

The Big East is the worst conference. Cinci is not a good team; they are lucky to be in the FBS division much less in D1.

Lol Pitt was not the favorite to win the Big East..they were supposed to be horrible

Sorry UC, you don't get points for beating Pitt at home. Well actually you do, you get 3 lol

In the USA poll, Ohio U lost votes (from 10/11 to 2) for beating New Mexico State. Who, like everyone else in college football, could probably take Pitt. One of those things that happens for whatever reason.

I still don't understand the placement of Alabama and Michigan. If Michigan was such a good team that beating them enables Bama to move up to #1, then why did Michigan drop so far? And if Michigan was so bad that they're worthy of dropping so far, then why did Bama move up for beating them?

Interesting as to who and where the voters placed THE OSU in this week's poll

the first 3 links I clicked on when googling "2012 big east football predictions" all had Pitt at #3. Excuse me. They were picked above UC in all of those polls as well.

Ohio State and the NCAA, in a collaborative effort and decision, have decided in in order to fully clean the slate of the transgressions that occured at Ohio State, that they should sit out this bowl season.

We will still win more bowl games than Cinci and Notre Dame combined x30000000000000000000000000000.01 over the next year and you can take to the bank.

I wonder if Gameday/ESPN is praying for Notre Dame to beat MSU this weekend, so they can go to South Bend next week for Michigan and Notre Dame. Thus the reasoning for not going to East Lansing this weekend and do 2 ND games in a row.

Maybe, but there will be 2 other big games that weekend as it stands now.

#15 Kansas State at #5 Oklahoma
#11 Clemson at #5 Florida State

I'd guess the FSU game would be the leader in the clubhouse for GameDay at this point.
