Too bad this wasn't in May...the going rate for doing something stupid in the spring is to have your scholly dropped for the summer.

Ya, these situations are completely parallel....

How can he play for another D-1 school without sitting out the year? He's not a Free Agent...

He cant play for any NCAA school now. It is FCS or nothing. He will probably take the Florida cb route.

    FCS is NCAA

I've heard if NCAA rules determined he couldn't play any longer, then he would have to sit out or play NAIA or try and play professionally in a smaller league (cant do NFL)

If he won't get an NCAA suspension, then he can play D-IAA, DII or DIII right away

Derp, they are D2 and play in the GLIAC.

Apparently you may need to clarify this again.

He'll find his way on a SEC team soon enough. They don't care about grades or murders down south.

Yes...seriously...LSU removes one of the biggest names in college football from the team. OSU players whip it out and piss in public then run from the cops (no, not the same as drugs...but still serious offenses - public indecency, evading an officer, and potentially resisting arrest) and get one of the most laughable punishments of all time.

LOL @ public indecency being a serious offense

Also LOL @ LSU removing TM...when you fail 11,000 drug tests, there's really nothing you can do other than give em the boot.

Honey Badger lika da ganja. Comparing this to pissing in public isn't even slightly defensible and anyone who tries only confirms how damn dumb we already know you are.

Former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu has expressed interest in sitting out this season, enrolling in classes and hoping for a return to the program in 2013, if it can be worked out with the school, according to sources.
Mathieu was dismissed from the team Friday following failed substance-abuse tests, but he was not dismissed by the university. The possibility of reinstatement would have to be approved at many levels, including university administration as well as coach Les Miles, and it is being discussed.

Weren't you singing the praises of Miles for finally kicking a kid off the team who had failed a drug test for the THIRD time. Well actually the decision was made for Miles and he just went along. Now you want the kid back?

Yeah. Im hoping he will learn his lesson and change his ways. He got what he deserved, having to miss a season where LSU is ranked #1 and he would of been a heisman candidate. Losing out on all of that and NFL draft stock is a major slap to the face. If he cleans up and really loves LSU, I would take him back. But, i definitely think he needs a year off.
  • cats gone wild
Does anyone know the scoop on if he is allowed to return to LSU. I just looked at the LSU site and there are so many topics about he cant, or possibly can come back, different sites and NCAA bigs saying he can/cant, etc. I gotta head to bed. TIA
  • vball10set
^^^I don't see why he couldn't...to me his biggest obstacle is Miles and his staff wanting him back. Anyway, IMO, there's no way he sits out this season--he'll play at a FCS school and then enter the draft. The guy's a helluva football player, but other than that, he's a stump.

So let's pretend he sits out this year...what makes ANYONE think that he'd not be smoking EVERY day with no drug tests to take, and would come back next season and give that all up and be clean? Just like this year, he wouldn't last through the summer without failing a test.
