10 Ohio State Juniors Considering Draft

    But he also said Heyward is a 1st rounder and Gibons is a 1st-2nd rounder. So I don't know why he would say they should return after saying that.

    Because Todd, like I, probably believes those guys can get themselves into the top 15 picks with another year.

    Just to put it into perspective, and probably something that these guys are looking at, here is a link to the rookie pay scale:

    I'm kind of in the dark as to the upcoming labor agreement, but many people seem to think that the rookie scale will decrease significantly, and there is a chance of a holdout next year.

    So in a way it might make sense to go ahead and leave if you are a 1st rounder, also you get to free agency much quicker.

    I'm speaking only if they come out early will some of these guys not be drafted, I agree if the marginal ones play another year in college that all will get drafted. But I'm one of those who said Brian Hartline would not get drafted, so what do I know.

    I don't think so, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just don't see Browning, Sanzenbacher, and the two corners being drafted. Remember they only draft 7 rounds anymore or about 224 players, I just don't think that right now these guys are among the best 200 players available across the whole country.

    I'd be happy if Chekwa was gone. His play makes me sick. Maybe give Jamie Wood a shot next year.

    I'm not saying he's a standout, but there is a reason he is playing. It's because he's the best OSU has to offer. So you bench him for someone worse?

    Wood has a lot of potential..if you watch the games you see that Chekwas play is...pretty bad. He is consistently getting beat and missing tackles and is the weak-link in the defense IMO.I think Russel should be starting over him.Torrence's coverage could be better, but atleast he is a solid tackler.

    Not sure if they are red-shirted or not..but they have C.J. Barnett and Jamie Wood, both if im not mistaken were recruited pretty highly out of high school. You never know unless you give them a chance. And I'm not saying you give them a chance in the Rose Bowl :P

    I understand where you are coming from, and there are always guys that I don't like seeing either. But I think not only does it speak about that specific player, but moreso the depth at that position.

    Everyone hated on Alex Boone for obvious reasons, but if there was anyone better than him, they would have played.

    There probably were better players but OSU didn/t want to burn their redshirts, but that's another story, you're right these guys right now are the best they have but that doesn't mean that the NFL will draft them.

    Chekwa and Russell are the reasons why Colt McCoy killed the secondary last season. Notice that Malcolm Jenkins was the only guy really doing well in that game last year, but McCoy kept picking on Chekwa and it paid off for them.

    Chekwa would not be drafted, along with Browning or Sanzenbacher.

    Saine may be drafted based on intangibles and athleticism, but even he may be a long shot.

    Great comeback to my correct statement, lol.Yeah, Im sure you predicted it. Why dont you predict who will be ranked higher at the end of the year, OSU or LSU? I can guarantee you OSU will drop out of the top 10 while LSU gets in the top 10. Book it.

    All of them will be drafted. I'll laugh when Checkwa goes in the mid rounds. He's a CB from OSU that will have a few years starting experience on successful teams. He's not as bad as many make him out to be. But that is typical of OSU fans.

    I really don't think he is that bad at all, most of the time he just needs to turn his dang head around because he is right there.

    Chekwa's got good speed and his coverage skills are better than people make them out to be. I don't think he'd be drafted this year but next year is certainly in the realm of possibility.

    Checkwa's main problem...when to turn and find the ball. He has no clue in this regard. Very frustrating to watch.

    You're not very familiar with how the draft works, are you?

    Chekwa would't be drafted just because he's a corner from OSU. Experience means nothing, and if anything it hurts him because he's still barely mediocre despite his experience.

    If you think Bryant Browning would be drafted, then you're an idiot. Adrien Clarke was much better than Browning, as was Bryce Bishop. They barely got drafted.

    Rumblings on one of the OSU sites is that Gibson and Chekwa are gone -- but Heyward will be staying, along with everyone else.

    If that turns out to be true, Ohio State will be fine. Although Chekwa has experience, there are some incoming guys (redshirts and freshmen) who can fill the void. With a DL and LB corps that will put intense pressure on most QBs, the DBs will likely be given some help as they grow up.

    The big early test, of course, will be when Miami comes into Columbus.

    Heyward wouldn't be affected by the cap. He won't be a top 15 pick. He isn't listed on any draft analysis's top 30 big board.
