NBA Early Entrants Official Thread

  • Azubuike24
NBA workouts start May 3rd/4th. However, as soon as they put their name in the Draft and did not withdraw by April 10th, they are ineligible by the NCAA. As long as they complete the semester they won't hurt APR. Most coaches have this as an expectation for student-athletes, regardless of their intentions after college. Obviously it's tougher at a place like OSU. Classes go until June. At UK for instance, class ends in less than 2 weeks...so it's not a huge deal at all.

All UK starters, pretty much as expected, entering the NBA Draft.

This basically leaves C.J. Leslie as the remaining "big name" to declare.

Nice little half an hour recruiting pitch for Cal on ESPN...and he sure did sell it...

Not for long. Isn't osu going to semesters soon? Or wait aren't they already?? Why do they have classes till so late. I just confused myself.

ESPN apparently asked UK if they could televise it...

Semesters actually start with the upcoming summer session--the quarter system they're on now is why classes extend a few weeks beyond most other schools.

Isnt like 5 weeks more? I remember in college I was done (as were a lot of my other friends) after first week of May. OSU guys didnt come back to Toledo until like mid June.

^ I'm done with finals next Wednesday.
  • vball10set
You are correct, Laley--OSU finals are the week of June 4th

Every school in Ohio is switching to semesters beginning the 2012 school year. Pretty sure OSU has had some optional "semester program" going on the past year or so as well.

Dickie V says Leslie will be back.

Other than OSU, what other schools are still on the quarter system?

Ohio U., Wright State, and UC are all quarter schools as well.
  • Azubuike24
Yeah, Leslie is back. This puts big pressure on NCSU. Preseason ACC favorites, likely top 5 ranking. At least top 10.

All Ohio schools are required to move to semester system by next year, per Ohio board of regents.

    Already mentioned

Quincy Miller is going pro as well, after saying he was staying.
  • Azubuike24
Definitely hurts Baylor. Losing Acy, Jones, Jones III and Miller. Lots of pressure going to be on Isaiah Austin.
  • Mulva
Bad move for Miller in my opinion. Could have really helped his stock with another season.
  • Laley23
Former 5* Dominique Ferguson, out of Indianapolis Lawrence North (Oden/Conley Alma Mater), going pro. Was not granted a release from Florida International after Isiah Thomas was fired.
