Coach K basically making Bo Ryan look like a huge prick by letting a player transfer to another school in conference.

Side note, really feel Hood will go to OSU. With Thomas likely to bolt next year he would be poised to start when he becomes eligible.

Logan Aronhalt (Zanesville) going from Albany to Maryland. He has already graduated so he will be eligible right away.

Funny you say this. Hood and Thomas have VERY SIMILAR games. Hood is a little quicker and a better athlete, Thomas is stronger and a better rebounder. Both need help defensively although Hood has a higher ceiling. Both can fill it up offensively. Neither are scared to shoot. Both are southpaws. Both are also the same height and if Hood puts on a little bulk would be close in weight.

Not difficult to do, that's for sure.

Don't know which way Hood will go. But he is also good friends with Ross, former AAU teammates. That may help as well.

Roscoe Smith is headed from UConn to UNLV and SHOULD be eligible to play immediately(their coach said they are still looking into it).

UNLV is going to be stacked and Smith may not even start for them with Moser, Birch, and Bennett in the front court.

I don't see him getting the waiver. Anticipate him suiting up in 2 years, but likely doesn't play with Bennett or Moser or Birch.

Trey Zeigler from CMU is transferring to Pitt and the NCAA says he is eligible to play immediately because his daddy coach got fired.

The Ziegler waiver kinda irks me now. Wish duke would have closed on him.

Why wouldn't he be eligible under the transfer rules(other issues as far as grades and amateur status are another thing)? He is a Junior and JR's and SR's from UConn are eligible to play immediately because of the post-season ban. Same thing with Oriakhi at Missouri. Something changed?

    EDIT:Nevermind, I see why now.I was wrong..
    1. Connecticut forward Roscoe Smith has transferred to UNLV and the Runnin’ Rebels will file a waiver to have him play next season instead of sitting out. The case, according to a source, will be built on Smith’s desire to play in the NCAA tournament. UConn is banned from the 2013 NCAA tourney due to a poor Academic Progress Rate. The Rebels are perfectly willing to have Smith sit out next season, but are making the attempt. This will be an interesting case for the NCAA. The rule has been that if there is a postseason ban, and you have as many years left as the ban, then you can transfer without sitting out. That’s why UConn’s Alex Oriakhi, who will be a senior, is eligible immediately at Missouri. If Smith, who will be a junior, gets the waiver then the NCAA will be open to criticism for its lack of consistency in interpreting the rule.

It may happen, but if it did, you would see a lot of other "free agents" out there. I personally don't like seeing any non-graduate student being eligible right away. Forget about the situation. However, if you are able to graduate and enroll in grad courses, I can see it, even if you are only a Junior.

    Another reason it can't...

Ryan Boatwright, DeAndre Daniels and Shabazz Napier are still on UConn. Roscoe Smith has no reason to be given a waiver except that UConn is on probation. If he gets the waiver, those 3 guys would have to look hard at just becoming "free agents" because they could get a similar waiver. That could have a huge impact on college basketball because Boatright and Napier (especially) are potential All-American caliber players.

Pat Forsythe, a redshirt freshman from WVU, has all but finalized transferring to UAkron. This would give them two 7 footers, both of which were highly recruited. Yikes.

Keith Clanton, a PF at Central Florida who averaged 15 and 9 last year, may be leaving and eligible right away due to UCF's trouble with the NCAA. If so, sounds like it would be Florida State and Kentucky as likely destinations.

From UK's perspective, this would be a huge addition to have yet another experienced player added to the mix. It would give them 5 players with legit D-1 experience on the roster along with 4 very good Freshman. There have already been reports about Wright State transfer Julius Mays being a solid contributor early on. Both Ryan Harrow and Kyle Wiltjer have experience and if Jon Hood can return from a torn ACL, he would also be in the mix. Adding Clanton would be huge. I think it's pretty safe to say that Noel, Poythress and Goodwin will be immediate All-SEC caliber players as they are likely going to be 3 of the top 8-10 Freshman contributors in the nation next year.
