2012 MAC Men's Basketball Tournament

vball10setto be honest, nobody gives a shit what rec thinks, so who cares what he says...just vote the poll and stfu

ts1227It's no secret that the 90's were the high point of MAC basketball, but it's not like it's complete and total shit now, especially this year where it seemed to bounce back some to the past few years which were down some. The West is arguably complete and total shit, but they'll all be eliminated by the Quarterfinals anyway.
The NBA prospects aren't there nearly as much (but then, look at the names that came through in the 90's), but there are some in the NBA, and a TON in Europe playing in leagues. -

And I don't give a F*CK about this thread. Not sure why I even posted on it. Oh yeah, I was sharing some good memories of the MAC, which ain't what it used to be. The times, they have a changed. Sorry. -
reclegend22P.S. Sorry, sports, I have to "spread some reputation around" before I can give it to you. Next time.

You're too involved having a friend playing. Its not that disrespectful. If they actually got offended by that stuff they would never have made it to DI.robj55;1104466 wrote:Still disrespectful to those guys who work their ass off. The Mac East is a pretty good conference, the Mac West isn't however. -

Possibly, my friend averaged 28 ppg, 11 rpg, 7 apg, 3 spg and 3 bpg in high school, so for someone to compare the league he plays in to YMCA is disrespectful. I understand it's all relative but most arm chair athletes criticize without knowing what goes in to it.Laley23;1104554 wrote:You're too involved having a friend playing. Its not that disrespectful. I can assure you I wasn't being an armchair athlete. I know that playing any level of college basketball, whether it be at Duke or at Rio Grande College, takes a very talented and supremely-conditioned athlete and is quite an accomplishment. While I never was a college athlete myself, I've had a cousin who played for Ohio State (women) as well as another who played D-III. I get it.robj55 wrote:Still disrespectful to those guys who work their ass off. The Mac East is a pretty good conference, the Mac West isn't however.
The MAC is simply not as fun to watch as it was when it was flooded with NBA guys throughout the '90s. That's my only contention. Also, the MAC players of today are like the YMCA.
Lol. Obviously, as Laley said, that was simply hyperbole. You should really stop being so serious, you might die in this thread. -

LOL. this is a hilarious commentrobj55;1104426 wrote:That's disrespectful to the players of that conference and stupid to say. D1 basketball is an extremely high level. -

Classyposter58I beat a current a current MAC player in HORSE if that helps any on whether the conference is good or not. Seriously though this conference is weak currently. Look what it was just a few years ago, heck a decade ago Antonio Gates and the Kent State Golden Flashes made the Elite 8 and then you had Chris Kaman who became a longtime NBA starter for the Clippers. Also the teams themselves aren't nearly as good as they were a decade or so ago. BG used to be a consistent power under Dakich, Kent State had some amazing teams, Central was untouchable during the Kaman days and Miami and Ball State were tournament contenders for a long time

Good for him? I averaged 14 4 and 4 while shooting 46 percent from 3 does that make me any good? No lol sounds like you like to suck on his nuts though. And btw the Mac sucks I'll take the YMCA allstars over Mac teams. -

believerBack on topic  ....As an obvious Bobcats fan, I'm hoping Ohio is up to the challenge, but I think in the end, it Akron will get the automatic NCAA bid and the Bobcats will head to the NIT.
-
HereticMy hope is Ohio, but you never know. They've been inconsistent to the level that I can see whatever team gets through the first two rounds to face them winding up beating them.
If they don't win, I think Buffalo could win it all. Read that they beat Akron twice during the regular season. -
Pick6
I think it will be hard for Buffalo to beat us 3 times, especially since the MAC tournament is virtually at home for Akron. I would rather play Buffalo than OU in the finals, I think. OU has been inconsistent like you said, but when they are on, they are on. Look no further than the ass whooping they gave Akron on national television.Heretic;1105651 wrote:My hope is Ohio, but you never know. Kent has been the disappointment this season, IMO. returning 5 of the top 6 on a regular season championship team from last season and finish 4th this year. -
Laley23I think Akron takes this. I work with a guy who works for their athletic department as well as with me (Cameraman) and is a student. So if UT or BG isnt able to get it done, Im pulling for Akron.
-
robj55Akron has been the most consistent team all year, but 4 other teams can beat them imo on a given day.
-
Pick6barring any unexpected circumstances, next year will really be Akron's year. They are the (~)16th youngest team in the NCAA this year.
They play a 9 man rotation, all of them could be starters. Only lose 2 next this year, and neither of them are really important pieces. One is just a hustle/energetic player. -
Heretic
OU could say the same thing, though. I think they only have one senior on their team and he's a back-of-the-bench sort. Maybe that will lead to the conference getting two bids for the first time in a few years if both of them can get a good win or two in the non-conference schedule and avoid upsets in the conference part.Pick6;1105813 wrote:barring any unexpected circumstances, next year will really be Akron's year. daveFor some reason I don't think this double bye will help out the top 2 seeds like they hope. Having to play against a team that has already played 1 game in the Q could be a big disadvantage.
-
Heretic
Think it's basically a triple bye for the top two seeds and double bye for the 3 and 4. The way it goes is that 5-12 all play each other. Then the four winners play each other. Then the two winners play OU and Kent. Then the two winners there play Akron and Buffalo with those winners playing for the title.dave;1106059 wrote:For some reason I don't think this double bye will help out the top 2 seeds like they hope. Yeah I look at the first round as basically a play-in since those games are on campus. The tourney doesn't really start til it gets to Cleveland IMO.Heretic;1106100 wrote:Think it's basically a triple bye for the top two seeds and double bye for the 3 and 4. Back in like 2006 CMU scored SEVEN in the first half down in the Convo. It was like 35-7 at half.
