  Whew!!!!!!!!!!!! What an escape. It is difficult to beat a team that makes 13-3's , but OSU did just that. Crawford was unbelievable and Shurna. Good to see Craft have the confidence to take some shots. The Buckeyes really needed this one. On to East Lansing.

  Yes MSU beat Purdue twice. Michigan went 1-1 and the Bucks went 1-0.

  eh, thats interesting though. I think 1-0 is the same as 2-0, ie, there is no loss. Thats interesting. Maybe a 3 way tie is handled differently.

  Had the ball gone into the stands, he'd have gotten a t. But it didn't even make it past the camera guys. I was still surprised Hightower didn't jump all over it.

  Buckeyes escape...Northwestern is a hard luck scrappy bunch that ran out of time...If this game goes a minute longer OSU might have lost...Glad Valentine wasn't officiating because he would have T'd Sully up...Good time for Craft to have his best shooting night of the season...On to Michigan State.

  When giving the ref the ball, you gotta look at them. You can really never throw the ball in the air. Anything that appears to show up a ref is a T. That ball was towards the baseline, but not Hightower.

  No you do not. However, he was very lucky a T wasn't called.
  
  Talk about a game of inches--if Craft's pass to Sully is a couple of inches to the inside, the pass gets either picked off or at the very least diverted. If Shurna's last second attempt is a couple inches higher, it's a buzzer beater for a NW victory....I know, I know-- if my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle.
  
  The Buckeyes need to build momentum off of this win and ride it through the tourney. Also, is it just me, or has Sully become quite the prima donna? Hopefully, it's just me.

  Any one of those 3 could have easily been called. Had he turned, looked and thrown TO Hightower...no issue.

  Assuming you watch a lot fo college ball...how often do those things above accur in a game? I could easily interpret/see those things nightly in every game. I see players slamming the ball down. I see players drop the ball multiple times without giving it to the official, see them making faces, I could go on and on.
  Could it have been a "T"? Sure. Should it have been? No, not in that situation. Officials could call T's all nite at players and coaches for the above. There is that FINE LINE. As bad as HIghtower is, he isn't going to make a call late in a game that determines the outcome of the game when its QUESTIONABLE. Three officials were there. None called it. And its not like all of them couldn't see it.
  
  That being said, Sullinger needs to not be stupid. Which he was down the stretch. His antics towards officials are in fact stupid and isn't going to help him or OSU.

  The game in Welsh-Ryan Arena last night was one of the best of the year. Northwestern put up the ultimate fight, but came up just a few, tormenting inches short of the better team. That last shot had a real chance.
  
  I feel sorry for John Shurna. The kid is a baller -- 22 points and 4 threes last night -- and a blast to watch. At 6'9" and with the ability he posseses from 25 feet, the kid might have a chance in the NBA. But, barring a semi-final or final run in the Big Ten Tournament, he'll never go dancing in the NCAAs and that is a sports tragedy.
  
  No matter what, though, he leaves Evanston as the all-time leading scorer of a Big Ten basketball team, something only 11 others in the history of the sport can claim. That's quite a feat.

  ^^^Shurna can sure fill it up, but it's painful to watch him shoot--at least for me it is-lol.
  I sure hope they can get a win at Iowa, but if not, then at least one in the B1G tourney-it'd be great for NW to get into the dance!

  I agree. I am not sure there is anyone rooting against NW to get into the NCAA. It doesn't look great for them. But if they could somehow get win at Iowa, then maybe another win or two in B1G tourney, they may have an outside chance. But its probably doubtful at this point in time. Even Matta made mention of this in his postgame.

  I really love watching Bill Carmody's Northwestern team play, but should a team that is 8-10 in the Big Ten and who has lost 11 of their past 18 games really be invited to the NCAAs? I don't know the answer to that, but it doesn't seem like it should be a yes. I still hope it is, however, cause I want to see more of Shurna.
  
  I mean, it's not like Northwestern is one of those small-division teams playing an ungodly schedule filled with a bunch of Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magics on the docket. They are playing the same teams as everyone else and they haven't succeeded to the level they probably should have. Close games have been a killer for the Wildcats.

  Probably not. But just about every bubble team we keep talking about keeps losing. So is 8-10 in the #1 conference better than 10-8 in the ACC? Big East? ETC...Who knows. They have a chance to win 2 games in the Big Ten Tourney though, they can play their way in imo. They will be favored in round 1 vs Illinois, then get Michigan in round 2. They just need to win that game and they can win that game.
  
  EDIT: This is assuming NW beats Iowa and MSU beats OSU and UofM beats Illinois. That puts NW at the 7th seed and Michigan the #2.

  Laley, the NW game is at Iowa, right? That could be the definition of a trap game leading into, what should be, a gimme against Bruce Weber. I agree with everything else you said. Two wins and a trip to the Big Ten semis would do it for the Wildcats. I just don't see them winning two in a row in Indy for some reason. I feel like NW has been in this "win or die" situation with respect to the NCAAs so many times before and failed that I just don't have much hope for them.

  Thanks. The Hawkeyes have won four in a row at home, including a big victory over Indiana, and earlier in the year beat Wisconsin on the road. It's a very capable team. I just hope NW hasn't mailed it in after the loss to OSU. After witnessing the character of the NW kids in last night's rally, I don't think that has happened. But it will be a tough game away from Evanston.

  Sullinger easily should have been given a technical, and most players in most games would have been assigned one. He threw the ball over his head like Dan Marino. I'm not even sure how that fact can be argued.
  
  He didn't get called for it, though, and Ohio State won. Regardless, it was a hell of a game and the -- clearly -- better team prevailed.
