Not getting into the whole "which would be more beneficial for his development" argument, but I don't think Thomas would even get 1st round consideration at this point and he could go undrafted. -

The decision to go pro really depends on whether you can increase your draft position if you come back another year, not whether another year in college will improve your game. Typically your draft value decreases the longer you stay in school, but in Thomas' case, he will be the main offensive threat next year for OSU, and I can see him avg. 20+/gm, which I think will help his draft stock.
Also, I don't think Thomas will ever be a good pro. -

Am I missing something with this Thomas NBA talk? Is there any mock that lists him going anywhere in the 2012 draft? I would think if he is a legitimate draftable prospect this year, some mock would have him in their projection. -

That's the only mock I've seen his name in. I would guess because most wouldn't project him to enter the draft. Chad Ford has him rated as 2nd round/undrafted. -

If you are in that 2nd/undrafted range, what is the point of coming out early, unless you are about to drop out of school? Why not come back, be the BMOC on a good team and try to improve your draft stock? Come out early in hopes you get drafted in the 2nd round where contracts aren't guaranteed? If we were talking about a potential 1st round pick, sure you come out. Which is kind of scarey if you think about it. If its not consistant somewhere, then its basically a crap shoot. Is it worth taking a shot and losing out on millions? When next year, he could certainly be a 1st round pick. No brainer at this point. Thigns can change. Sully is definitely a top 10 pick. In the right system, he could be an All-Star as a pick and roll big.

Sully has fell towards the 10 pick. Last years draft was weak, this years is/could be really deep. So it makes sense. Plus, I love sully, but he's got a game that I'm not sure suits the nba game. -

I am also not sure Thomas will be that great at the next level. He has to show me A LOT more than he has to date. As I said, there are A LOT of 6'7" athletic players with skill. Would be different if he were 6'9", 6'10". He is not. -

I go back and forth with this. What he has going for him, is his body. And he has more skill than people realize. He has a nice looking jumper thats only going to get better and more consistant as well. He also gets to the FT line and is pretty good there as well. Not sure he will be an all star. I will say this, last year, he is top 3 I think. Ahead of Thompson maybe Kanter. This year, he is probably not going to be top 5. It will depend on who gets the pick(s) and what they need. But I think money wise he made a mistake, but if you love school and college ball it doesnt really matter. Its like Jake Locker or Matt Leinart made a mistake but didnt kill him completely financially. -

I don't totally disagree with you. Sully could slip, who knows. Again, team needs play a big part in draft. But for someone to make a statement like he is dropping out of the top 10 for no apparent reason at all, or nothing to back it up, is a stretch. I'm with those who are inclined to think Sullinger would majorly hurt his draft prospects with an additional year spent in Columbus, if he hasn't already to a small degree. As CBF said, he was a top ten pick last year and he probably is again this year. Maybe he could have went a few spots higher last summer as compared to the one upcoming, but who really knows.
I think it comes down to the simple fact that neither Jared nor his father are foolish enough to risk the threat of re-injury with another year in college. Jared's already missed some time this year due to injury and who's to say that next time it won't be really serious? They call accidents freak for a reason. The smart decision for Sullinger is to take the money and begin what, hopefully for him, will be a long and successful professional career.
