What Buckeye(s) will leave early for the NBA?

Oh that's right, I forgot another year in college would have made Cook more mature...does OSU have a maturity coach that NBA teams don't have?centralbucksfan;1086716 wrote:No numbnuts...not when maturity, or lack there of comes into place. And there is something to be said about playing games, real compeitition. If you go to NBA, once season starts, they rarely practice. Mostly walk throughs. So if you are stuck on the bench, and you see no game action..think what you will, but it doesn't help. Getting instruction, workouts is one thing. Playing competative games is important no matter how you want to spin it.
No offense, but there is more to playing the game than just talent or potential. There are many who left early, who didn't make it for one reason or another. And it probably wasn't because they were not talented enough.
You're fucking delusional if you think a year in college will help your NBA game more than a year in the NBA, even if it just in practice and 10min a game.
But then again, I know you're delusional, so it's no surprise you think that. -

He was definitely more sought after last year. he would have been a top 5 pick, especially w/ the poor draft.ernest_t_bass;1086735 wrote:I personally think he was more sought after last year.
This year, he's slipping out of the top 10.

MulvaNot getting into the whole "which would be more beneficial for his development" argument, but I don't think Thomas would even get 1st round consideration at this point and he could go undrafted.
-
se-alumThe decision to go pro really depends on whether you can increase your draft position if you come back another year, not whether another year in college will improve your game. Typically your draft value decreases the longer you stay in school, but in Thomas' case, he will be the main offensive threat next year for OSU, and I can see him avg. 20+/gm, which I think will help his draft stock.
Also, I don't think Thomas will ever be a good pro. -
WooballAm I missing something with this Thomas NBA talk? Is there any mock that lists him going anywhere in the 2012 draft? I would think if he is a legitimate draftable prospect this year, some mock would have him in their projection.

As with any mocks, I've seen him in 1st round, 2nd round, and undrafted...lol.Wooball;1086838 wrote:Am I missing something with this Thomas NBA talk? Pick 42. But I think that mock kind of sucks.
That's the only mock I've seen his name in. I would guess because most wouldn't project him to enter the draft. Chad Ford has him rated as 2nd round/undrafted. -

I saw one, not sure the name of it, but had him going #18 to the Lakers.Mulva;1086850 wrote:http://www.draftsite.com/nba/mock-draft/2012

If you are in that 2nd/undrafted range, what is the point of coming out early, unless you are about to drop out of school? Why not come back, be the BMOC on a good team and try to improve your draft stock? Come out early in hopes you get drafted in the 2nd round where contracts aren't guaranteed? If we were talking about a potential 1st round pick, sure you come out. I'd like to see a mock where he is projected as a 1st round pick.Mulva;1086850 wrote:http://www.draftsite.com/nba/mock-draft/2012

Which is kind of scarey if you think about it. If its not consistant somewhere, then its basically a crap shoot. Is it worth taking a shot and losing out on millions? When next year, he could certainly be a 1st round pick. No brainer at this point. Thigns can change. But I doubt much.se-alum;1086847 wrote:As with any mocks, I've seen him in 1st round, 2nd round, and undrafted...lol. -

se-alumSully is definitely a top 10 pick. In the right system, he could be an All-Star as a pick and roll big.
-
Midstate01Sully has fell towards the 10 pick. Last years draft was weak, this years is/could be really deep. So it makes sense. Plus, I love sully, but he's got a game that I'm not sure suits the nba game.

This. But typically they do get better and more mature. And some guys need that. Many variables.se-alum;1086780 wrote:The decision to go pro really depends on whether you can increase your draft position if you come back another year, not whether another year in college will improve your game. I am also not sure Thomas will be that great at the next level. He has to show me A LOT more than he has to date. As I said, there are A LOT of 6'7" athletic players with skill. Would be different if he were 6'9", 6'10". He is not. -
centralbucksfan
I go back and forth with this. What he has going for him, is his body. And he has more skill than people realize. He has a nice looking jumper thats only going to get better and more consistant as well. He also gets to the FT line and is pretty good there as well. Not sure he will be an all star. But with his body, skill and bball IQ, he could be a very good, consistant player.Midstate01;1086879 wrote:Sully has fell towards the 10 pick. Really? SO #4 and #5 in another is slipping out? LMAO Ya, ok! Spin it how you want. We all know what you meant!! Comical.SportsAndLady;1086891 wrote:I said sully is slipping out of the top ten not that he's not projected there now..try to keep up old man. -
Laley23Your 3rd link has 3 I woudl definiteyl take over him.
Perry Jones III
Harrison Barnes
Austin Rivers
But that would still have him at 7.
I will say this, last year, he is top 3 I think. Ahead of Thompson maybe Kanter. This year, he is probably not going to be top 5. It will depend on who gets the pick(s) and what they need. But I think money wise he made a mistake, but if you love school and college ball it doesnt really matter. Its like Jake Locker or Matt Leinart made a mistake but didnt kill him completely financially. -

Yeah when u were top 3 and mocks have him at 4,5 and 8 that is slipping lol if the draft was tomorrow yes he's top ten. But it's a long ways away. -

Ahh, so now he is just slipping? Before it was out of the top 10. Keep on spinning....SportsAndLady;1086923 wrote:Yeah when u were top 3 and mocks have him at 4,5 and 8 that is slipping lol if the draft was tomorrow yes he's top ten. But it's a long ways away. -

No offense. I respect your opinion. But its just that, your opinion. Draft boards and others say differently. And much depends on a teams need at certain positions unless someone is just flat out good.Laley23;1086894 wrote:Your 3rd link has 3 I woudl definiteyl take over him.

I wasnt taking sides. Just pointing it out. A guy like Harrison Barnes has slipped a lot based on that link. A non-OSU example so to speak.centralbucksfan;1086938 wrote:No offense. But, it is just my opinion. I was just stating it. Dont really wanna get into this one. Ill pick my debates where I see fit -

I don't totally disagree with you. Sully could slip, who knows. Again, team needs play a big part in draft. But for someone to make a statement like he is dropping out of the top 10 for no apparent reason at all, or nothing to back it up, is a stretch. At least you are reasonable.Laley23;1086955 wrote:I wasnt taking sides. Just pointing it out. A guy like Harrison Barnes has slipped a lot based on that link. A non-OSU example so to speak.

reclegend22I'm with those who are inclined to think Sullinger would majorly hurt his draft prospects with an additional year spent in Columbus, if he hasn't already to a small degree. As CBF said, he was a top ten pick last year and he probably is again this year. Maybe he could have went a few spots higher last summer as compared to the one upcoming, but who really knows.
I think it comes down to the simple fact that neither Jared nor his father are foolish enough to risk the threat of re-injury with another year in college. Jared's already missed some time this year due to injury and who's to say that next time it won't be really serious? They call accidents freak for a reason. The smart decision for Sullinger is to take the money and begin what, hopefully for him, will be a long and successful professional career.
