  They could be, looking at the schedule, but I wouldn't underestimate what a few guys that haven't played yet can do. They've got a lot of talent on that sideline--no matter how you look at it, they have a lot of highly touted high school players. Coaching could make a big difference.

  Since when did revenue mean anything? Look at profit, you know, the money they have after all expenses have been paid. Looks like Texas has the most money to pay their football coach, and is CLEARLY backed up by Mack Brown being the highest paid coach in college football.

  In the article it states Texas' program is worth $92 million and has the largest profits. However, it also states that Notre Dame is the most valuable program valued at $101 million.

  Its for the same reason as Ohio HS football is better for traditionally strong schools to all be fielding good teams at the same time. I know you can definitely understand that example.

  College football is like a bodybuilding competition, the teams are judged on who is the best and alot of people play favorites. ND doesnt play on a level playing field.

  College football certainly doesn't NEED ND, but it's better when they're good. They're a program with great history and a great and HUGE fan base.

  Exactly cc...the TV contract alone gives ND a huge recruiting advantage and every college coach in the nation will confirm that. But even with that huge advantage they somehow manage to wallow in the pig sty of mediocrity. My take on that is the kids they are getting really do want to play for ND but these are typically the over-achieving type kids you see at Army, Navy, Stanford...etc. Smallish, slower type players who were damn good HS football players but just can't physically compete with the FL, AL, OSU, USC, TX, OK of the world. Sure they land a kid like Tate or Clausen every couple of years and then he gets mired down trying to carry the rest of the midgets on his back. Its actually kinda sad to watch.

  How does the TV contract give them an advantage? All the other top programs are on national TV a ton, on TV every weekend, albeit sometimes in the regional market, etc.

  C'mon cbus you really aren't that dense I know it...by essentially having their own weekly guaranteed network "show" so to speak...ND can (and does) emphatically tell recruits that Mom & Dad, teammates and all their homies can watch them every single game on TV bro. You don't think that is a powerful attraction to HS kids? The best college coaches in the nation have acknowledged this is a tremendous recruiting tool. Why do you think the Big Ten football coaches practically single handedly sold the idea for the Big 10 Network to cable providers? Nothing BS about it...but for some reason <and I believe its the academic standards argument>...ND gets alot of well behaved, graduation focused players...a great thing for the community at large but not so great if you want to win football games in the modern era. The reason I pick on them so mercilessly is because they refuse to accept who they have become and that is a lesser Stanford.
