That would be fine. Just tell me how you're going to eliminate Bowl tie ins and you're good to go.ptown_trojans_1;1024622 wrote:Eliminate the ability of the bowls to pick, use a NCAA bball style selection committee. That way, deserving teams do not get screwed out of good matchups.
We as fans are getting the shaft by not seeing this Boise team against another top 10 team. The system needs a complete overhaul. It worked 15 years ago, but not now. -

i've never understood the point of these bowl games - what purpose do they serve? 35 "postseason" games and only one means anything. just a terrible system all the way aroundptown_trojans_1;1024622 wrote:Eliminate the ability of the bowls to pick, use a NCAA bball style selection committee. Gone, NCAA establishes bowl matchups based on rankings. So, each bowl matches are compelling and a true matchup.ytownfootball;1024626 wrote:That would be fine. Just tell me how you're going to eliminate Bowl tie ins and you're good to go.
I love the Rose Bowl Pac-12 vs. B1G, but now a days that does not work. The old days are gone of traditional power conferences.
It would also easily transfer to a potential playoff down the road.
But, the current bowl structure of conference tie ins is a joke. There are no tie ins any more really, it is all about the money, and not football or the best matchup. -
ytownfootballI hear you p-town, but now you're going to ask the NCAA to actually do something like wrestle control of major bowls away from those who control them now?
color me skeptical -
jordo212000Conference affiliations / tie-ins only really apply to the Rose Bowl anymore. ACC and Big East looks very different than it used to.
Conference realignment took a dump on this way of thinking.
Ytown is an old timer locked into the old system and way of doing things -

Big East, SEC, Big 12, PAC 12 are all for a non-BCS world... Or at least have said they were in the past. Big 10 / Delany is the only conference standing in the way -

uh yeah not exactly jordo, I'm for it for the most part but skeptical that the stuffed shirts allow it to happen. They aren't going to give up the control they have as well as the money. -

Not conference...just Delaney. The B1G committee has been asked some of the tough questions in a panel setting...they sit there like deer in the headlights and look to Delany to answer the questions...he's got power and doen't want to give it up. But the pressure is building on him.jordo212000;1024639 wrote:Big East, SEC, Big 12, PAC 12 are all for a non-BCS world... Or at least have said they were in the past. Public hates system, coaches hate the system, politicians hate the system, etc. I honestly believe that the BCS as we know it will cease to exist sometime in the next 10 yrs.
The system is corrupt and I think external pressure from lawsuits and public outcry will eventually break down the wall -

Sure it will, in time, just look how different things are now compared to the old AP system (us "old timers" 'member that noise) There was no fuckin' TCU playin' in the Damn Rose Bowl! (I guarantee some dead dudes did barrel rolls 6 under on that one.)jordo212000;1024648 wrote:Public hates system, coaches hate the system, politicians hate the system, etc. I honestly believe that the BCS as we know it will cease to exist sometime in the next 10 yrs.

ytownfootballTen years is a little optimistic though, this contract ends in '14 I think, then we'll get a +1 format for another span.

With the way the media is now, they have no choice. People have a voice with social media and with literally every game that matters being on TV, we know how good teams are.ytownfootball;1024652 wrote:Sure it will, in time, just look how different things are now compared to the old AP system (us "old timers" 'member that noise) There was no fuckin' TCU playin' in the Damn Rose Bowl! In the past mid-majors were out of sight and out of mind, now we watch them play and we can see that they are on par with a lot of the big boys. So when we see a system that is openly screwing over the little guy and benefiting the very people who run it, people are going to get upset.
My biggest problem with the system is that the schools who participate are "non-profit" institutions and the bowls are supposedly "non-profit", yet every decision is made based on profit. Not the good of the student life. I understand that, but underhanded and unfair tactics that keep good mid-majors from big bowls simply because they are not a big boy should not be happening.
I anticipate the lawsuits to continue to roll in against the BCS. The whole thing is so unseemly and dirty. -
ts1227Decent game here in the Military Bowl, Toledo and Air Force knotted up at 35 in the 4th
Yeah, when the Pac-12 changed commissioners, Delany lost his only ally regarding the BCS. It's alllllll him now.ytownfootball;1024646 wrote:Not conference...just Delaney. OneBuckeyeGood game. Worst. Commentary. Ever. Dan Hawkins is a joke and a woman doing play by play. Smh.

I have no problem with a woman doing PBP at all (she does some B1G games during the year and is good), but Hawkins is a retard.OneBuckeye;1029315 wrote:Good game. Worst. Commentary. Ever. Dan Hawkins is a joke and a woman doing play by play. Smh. -
sportswizuhrdPam Ward when a reciever is wide open and makes the catch..."Easy catch and throw"....Umm...
"Malcolm Riley came bulling in and dropped him...(split second pause)...on the sack."
As for the bowl tie-ins and tradition, I can't wait till a Colorado-Nebraska matchup in the Rose Bowl(post-season). That screams of Pac 10-Big 10 tradition. -

jordo212000Hancock likes to talk about how precious the bowl season is for fans is and how special it is to the players and to the markets the bowls are based in.
So far I have seen lightly attended games, very few good matchups / storylines, and many players cashing it in.
College football is my favorite sport and I dont even start watching the bowls until tomorrow. College football is the only sport that has a meaningful regular season and a largely insignificant postseason. Tells you everything you need to know when coaches are quitting their jobs and not even coaching their teams in the bowl game. -
gerb131Oklahoma was #1 for a time....thats not right they struggled to beat Iowa final was inflated with a late td.
Come on NW beat A&M, NW always plays well in bowl games. -

They now have lost 9 bowl games in a row which ties Notre Dame's record(95-07) for most bowl game L's in a row.gerb131;1032338 wrote:Oklahoma was #1 for a time....thats not right they struggled to beat Iowa final was inflated with a late td.
