SEC Logic
-
sleeperAll SEC nuthuggers and random others are all in agreement that Alabama is without a doubt the #2 team in the country.
Given this, if OKST ends up beating ISU, does Alabama still get to go to the NCG? After all, if they clearly are the #2 team in the country, OKST's loss to ISU is irrelevant.
#SEClogic -
sleeperTo add to this, even if Alabama loses all twelve games this year, and they clearly are without a doubt the #2 team in the country, there record itself is irrelevant too. Alabama and LSU would be predetermined to meet in this year's NCG.

sleeperMostly looking for Con_Alma's stamp of approval. The logic is undeniable.
We'll throw MB, FFT, and gut in the mix as well. If I can get all of their stamps of approval, I win.

Con_AlmaIs Alabama clearly the #2 team in the country? They might be but I don't know that they are.
OK St gets to go to they National Championship game if their BCS calculated rankings put them at #1 or #2.
Alabama gets to go if their BCS calculated rankings put them at #1 or #2.
It's not more complicated than that.
Those were they conditions agreed upon by the conferences the respective schools are members of. -

wkfanHad OKST beaten Iowa State, they would be in the NC game as the 2nd best team in the country.
They did not, therefore, they are not the 2nd best team.
End of debate. -

It kinda is when SEC homes fix the polls. -
WebFireTeams losing don't affect how good they are. #sleeperlogic

WebFireIf Ohio State hadn't lost 6 games, would they be #2?

The logic went over your head completely. Alabama and other's team records are independent of Alabama being the second best team in the country. OK making 1 more FG against ISU is irrelevant if everyone believes Alabama is truly #2. Alabama losing every game is independent of people thinking Alabama is the 2nd best team in the country. SEC fans logic is flawed. You can't in the same breath say "If OK ST would have beaten ISU they would be the second best team in the country and then in the same breath give Alabama the nod because they are truly a top 2 team in the country.wkfan;1003903 wrote:Had OKST beaten Iowa State, they would be in the NC game as the 2nd best team in the country.

goosebumpsCreepy as shit, I kind of get the point sleeper is making here. Why does a loss to a Big 12 hurt your chances of going to the national title game more than a loss to an SEC team? We know that Bama isn't as good as LSU, they proved this on the field. We don't know if OSU is as good as LSU. We'll never know and thats messed up.
Bama lost at home, OSU lost in overtime on the road. Both OSU and Bama had 4 wins over ranked teams. -

Because Alabama is clearly the #2 team in the country, just look at their roster!goosebumps;1003944 wrote:Creepy as ****, I kind of get the point sleeper is making here. However, you will never get a true answer from this because you are 100% right and there is no counter.goosebumps;1003944 wrote:Creepy as ****, I kind of get the point sleeper is making here. goosebumpsIt was predetermined that Bama was #2 and OSU was obviously not #2. Neither is Stanford

Bama lost to an undefeated team, Oklahoma State lost to a 6-6 team that also had losses by 23, 23, 35, 16, and 20. I've said before that I don't think the loss is the only thing that should be considered, but that is a HORRIBLE loss to have if you're going to try and argue about being the second best team in the country.goosebumps;1003944 wrote:Bama lost at home, OSU lost in overtime on the road. We already know that LSU is better than Bama, we'll never know if OSU is better than LSU.enigmaax;1003976 wrote:Bama lost to an undefeated team, Oklahoma State lost to a 6-6 team that also had losses by 23, 23, 35, 16, and 20. Damn, why did they play the Big Ten Championship game? We already knew that Michigan State was better than Wisconsin. The Big Ten screwed Michigan State! The conference is a farce! Michigan State = Co-champs!sleeper;1003984 wrote:We already know that LSU is better than Bama, we'll never know if OSU is better than LSU.

1 team, Okla St, won the best conference in the country, the other team, Alabama, didn't even make it to the 2nd best conference championship game. 1 team already had a shot at LSU at home and lost. The NC should not depend on 1 team having to beat another team twice while the other team only has to win once.enigmaax;1003976 wrote:Bama lost to an undefeated team, Oklahoma State lost to a 6-6 team that also had losses by 23, 23, 35, 16, and 20. Same reason they play conference tourneys in NCAA mens basketball to see who gets the automatic berth into the tournament or in College Football a automatic bid to a BCS Bowl. No one gets an automatic bid to the NC game...well except...enigmaax;1003986 wrote:Damn, why did they play the Big Ten Championship game?
