Fickell is quoted as saying Bollman has full control of the offense leading up to this game. smh

Wonder if Meyer's head explodes when he starts watching the team in practice?

Fickell is a good guy, but stuff like this shows why it is a good thing he was not given the head coaching job. He never seemed to be the least bit worried about the offense / Bollman. With as bad as we have been all season, you'd think he would take a more active role or have Drayton/Siciliano help more. But it looks like he was hands off all year. Which makes you wonder what he did all season? (Heacock handled the defense)

And this is a surprise? Based on talking with someone that was around practice during the season, they said Fickell never was involved with the offense during practices or games. He stuck strickly to the defensive side. Just another reason i wasn't keen on Fickell continueing as head coach. I believe the head coach has to be involved with the offensive said in some capacity. Even if limited. Too many decisions curing game planning and during the game that can make or break things. And not to have the head coach involved in those decisions just doesn't work.

Purdue couldn't even sell out there own stadium vs. OSU when we made up 40% of the fans. That is all you need to know about their fans.

Edwards is probably the sideline reporter?

I'd be worried if it was Pam Ward.

Having Craig James on the broadcast makes me want to go to the game just so I don't have to listen to him.

I think that Ohio State will roll big in this game even with Bollman calling the offense, just because Florida has shown nothing offensively all season. Brantley has been terrible, the only thing they have is Demps and Rainey's speed that you need to worry about. I'll be looking for the OSU defense to start showing improvement, they have played bad most of the season and really bad the last few games. No pass rush at all and coverage in the secondary is not very good. The linebacker play other than Shazier has been way below OSU standards. With what 15 extra practices before the game Miller should look a little better throwing the ball, this is the best thing about getting a Bowl bid is the extra practice time for a young team.

Kinda like you on the osu bball thread.... Fn weird!!

The reason I feel good about this game is because Brantley isn't athletic. Thus no option read... Which we can't stop. So unless they put demps and Rainey in they backfield together, without Brantley, I think we are good. Though our soft zone might make Brantley look like a heisman contender

One thing I'm really lookin' forward to next year is the fact that our defense will be an attacking defense. Back to the Silver Bullets!!

Paul Keels and Jim Lachey will do an excellent job on radio.

Did you not see how much this defense got gashed the last half of the season? It won't matter if the QB is running read option or not if the defensive line isn't getting penetration and the linebackers are taking bad angles and tackling as poorly as they did most of the year.

I have ZERO faith this defense can stop anyone, and with Bollman calling the plays I have the same amount of faith they'll be able to sustain drives. This isn't UM's defense they'll be going against (which wasn't that great, despite improvements this year).

I get the feeling that Fickell and OSU had an understanding that he was one and done. I mean, did he really even have any authority to hire/fire a coordinator if he wanted to? Obviously he was involved with the defense before, so of course he would continue to be involved. I'm sure he had thoughts and ideas about the offense, but if you don't have authority to bring in a real OC, then there isn't much use messing around with an offense you know little about.

To be honest, it looked as if Bollman "knew little about offense" this past year as well :)

I am in agreement with this. I think Fickell knew from the getgo this was a one year temporary deal. He was stuck with what he had and did the best he could. I have to "LOL" at those who feel sorry or think he got a raw deal. The dude made a MILLION DOLLARS this year. No feeling sorry for that!!

I am hopeful, with the time to prepare, they can shore up some of these deficencies. On top of that, I am expecting Sweat back in the lineup. I personally feel he was a HUGE loss to the defense. I expect them to be better. I also agree, that the Fla defense, with a non mobile QB plays into the hands of OSU.
Lets hope the offensive play calling from the UM carries over into this game. They let Miller loose a little bit and he performed.

Indeed. Although he did know a thing or two about offense that offends OSU fans. :D

Similar to when the OSU players wore headbands in Earle Bruce's final game, the players should wear handcuffs against Florida to honor Jim Bollman, a man who has single-handedly handcuffed any offensive progression for years.

UF running backs coach Brian White will be the offensive coordinator through the bowl game.
