Urban Meyer Resigns from Family: Plans to Spend More Time With His Football
-
SpeedofsandLOL.
“The doctors said that if I spent any more time with my family, I would probably be dead within the year. Most likely of boredom.”
Meyer acknowledges that it won’t be easy making the transition from his high profile gig as the leader of the Meyer household to the relative obscurity of being head coach at Ohio State. On Monday, he released this statement:
“I have been focusing on my family for 10 whole months — minus the 8 months I’ve focused on being an ESPN broadcaster. During that time, my primary goal has been to be a good husband and father — and trying not to look like a total ass-hole on live cable TV. ...I know how fortunate I am to be in a position to make this choice and to have a football community as loving, supportive and desperate as the Ohio State Buckeyes are right now.”

dwccrewSomething only a UF fan could find funny, because it isn't, it's stupid. Wouldn't expect less from SEC grads and fans. Low IQ's and all.

Lighten up Francis. I HATE the SEC and I found it at least a little funny.dwccrew;997077 wrote:Something only a UF fan could find funny, because it isn't, it's stupid. Wouldn't expect less from SEC grads and fans. Low IQ's and all. -

We have different standards for humor then. That wasn't even remotely funny.Scarlet_Fever;997083 wrote:Lighten up Francis. I HATE the SEC and I found it at least a little funny. -
vball10setI personally don't think it's funny, but I could see why Florida fans would. If the roles were reversed, maybe--but they're not, so I don't.
-
Scarlet_FeverI can guarantee that if he had went to almost any other school the OSU fans would find this funny. Did you ever make fun of him saying Jesus told him to come back to coach that kid? I did and I'm a devote Christian. I don't care if they want to make fun of it. He's not at OSU and I believe he will bring back the best offense OSU has seen since Walt Harris.

I understand that you think it's funny, and that's great. And you're right, maybe if he went to another school, I too would think it's funny--but he's not, and I don't. And "who's not at OSU"? Am I missing something??Scarlet_Fever;997102 wrote:I can guarantee that if he had went to almost any other school the OSU fans would find this funny. cats gone wildIm not posting this to start an argument, but what happened to OSU posters saying "Kentucky will do whatever it takes to win. They will pay whatever to win. They would sell their soul to win........etc". I remember how people ripped on Cal and UK fans a few years ago, but yet now its OK for OSU to do the same thing in football?? Explain why the hiring of Meyer is O.K.? After all, you guys hated him with a passion while he was at UF. Just curious, and not going to argue back and forth.

Nothing about that was funny. I don't care what program(s) were involved. It wasn't clever or humorous. Perhaps the author should move to LA and write for The Office.dwccrew;997092 wrote:We have different standards for humor then. That wasn't even remotely funny. -

At the same time, how many times has Urban Meyer lead schools had to forfeit victories?cats gone wild;997119 wrote:Im not posting this to start an argument, but what happened to OSU posters saying "Kentucky will do whatever it takes to win. Has Meyer ever been convicted of a major NCAA violation or been forced to forfeit a bowl victory? That was the crux (at least of my) Calipari argument. He has vacated 2 final fours.cats gone wild;997119 wrote:Im not posting this to start an argument, but what happened to OSU posters saying "Kentucky will do whatever it takes to win. What? How do you come up with the idea of comparing Calipari to Meyer? As far as I know, all of Meyer's records are still in the record books and he has never been found to have committed NCAA violations. I don't think he has even been investigated or accused. Calipari can't say the same thing. Sorry, but terrible comparison.cats gone wild;997119 wrote:Im not posting this to start an argument, but what happened to OSU posters saying "Kentucky will do whatever it takes to win. Now had OSU kept Tressel, your argument may hold some (very little though) water with that comparison. But Meyer? Don't see how it relates.

Fly4FunCGW... comparing those two coaches is asinine. And as for the piece of writing... the topic has potential to be funny, but the delivery was terrible. Leave satire to The Onion.

dwccrewLOL at Florida fans acting like the girl that just got dumped at prom. Meyer has found a hotter, more attractive date.

chicago510I will never rag on anyone for returning to their alma mater, no matter the situation.
If I ever had the opportunity to choose between working at some random hospital or OSU, it would be a no brainer. -

Ding, ding, ding.karen lotz;997367 wrote:I don't think he was comparing the coaches.
Basically saying, its o.k. now to hire a coach they hated, who cant keep a program clean, lets thugs play. They just look past that now. And OSU posters acted like UK would pay a coach whatever amount of money to win and do whatever it takes to be on top again (OSU did with Meyer).
Bucks fans can think as highly now as they want on Meyer, but he's less of a man in my book for being a liar, and putting football before family/so called health problems. If he got hired elsewhere, OSU posters would be blasting him like crazy for not keeping his word. Fact.
