Lol no, I'm working on my MD at UC. But if I wound up at some hospital in Florida, I would totally drop it and move back to Ohio.dwccrew;997384 wrote:Are you a brain doctor? What do you do at the hospital? -
AutomatikIt was a perfect storm. He already said he wouldn't be coaching if it wasn't for the OSU job being vacant. It's been said over and over.
It's obvious he has always thought of coaching OSU in the future then the job was available. If he didn't take it now then when? Probably never.
Personally I was never a fan of Meyer the person. It irked me when he ran his mouth about getting Florida in the title game in '06, but I've always been a huge fan of his coaching style even after the beatdown he gave OSU. Now that we have him of course I will support him.
Bottom line....a lof of people are flat out butt hurt over this hire and I fucking LOVE IT. -
chicago510People are mad because Meyer is great for OSU.
If we hired some no name guy nobody would give a shit.
Call it sell-out, no problem, we have the biggest athletic program in the country we better be spending some $ -

Hypocrite. Who's mad? Some Florida fans, nobody else. I just think its a funny blog.Automatik;997404 wrote:

AutomatikSo I should be against the hire because his comments in '06 irked me? Yeah...ok.

goosebumpsIt was a little bit funny, but not anything to be pissed about. Chill. If Meyer wins a national title for OSU, good for you guys. But I think it will take several years. He won't have the instant success he had at Florida due to the impending sanctions. Not really his fault.

Wishful thinking. If Urban Meyer doesn't win the B1G in his first year and a BCS bowl, he's going to take heat. This isn't Cinci, where getting Blown out in a BCS bowl is their best accomplishment in the past 50 years.goosebumps;997437 wrote:It was a little bit funny, but not anything to be pissed about. 0311sdpOSU will win a minimum of 10 games next year and make a NC run in Meyer's second year. There are no major sanctions coming or he would have not taken this job. He said he did some checking on his own with the NCAA, so I think whatever is coming is not major and he already knows what it will be. He'll win at OSU just like he has won everywhere else he's been but I think that he will also burn out there in about 5 years. Enough time for Fickell to figure out what is going on.

ytownfootballStupid blog from a buttcrunched hater, not surprising though.
The sociological backlash from this hire is interesting. The bottom line is that with so many haters, who had visions of decades of being down, NCAA sanctions, page 3 headlines, 2 star recruits and years of mediocrity and potential irrelevancy all went out the window when Urban Meyer was hired. Why else would there be so many threads akin to this one? Whaaa! You hated Meyer back then! Whaaaa! You're hypocrites!
None will admit it but they wanted to see OSU and especially their fans, who most will readily admit they hate with a passion, suffer for the transgression of a couple tattoo recipients...too fucking bad haters, ain't gonna happen LOL. -

For the record, I "hated" Urban Meyer while he was at Florida for two reasons:cats gone wild;997119 wrote:After all, you guys hated him with a passion while he was at UF. Just curious, and not going to argue back and forth.
1.) he kicked our ass in '06, denying OSU the NC, and that loss stuck with me for a long, long time
2.) Tim Tebow
He's our coach now, and good things will happen with him in control. When you get a coach like Urban Meyer coming home to coach our Buckeyes, you learn to have a short memory with the "hating" thing....GO BUCKS!!! -

So the NCAA told Meyer, someone not affiliated with OSU at the time, what the sanctions would be? But haven't told OSU yet? Gotchya. :rolleyes:0311sdp;997475 wrote:OSU will win a minimum of 10 games next year and make a NC run in Meyer's second year. There are no major sanctions coming or he would have not taken this job. I always thought that reaction to a coach promoting his team was hilarious. His responsibility was to his team, so why wouldn't he be vocal about what his team deserves? It probably isn't going to get much press, but imagine being a fan whose coach doesn't support his team:Automatik;997404 wrote:Personally I was never a fan of Meyer the person. "Alabama lost to what would be the No. 1 team in the country and Oklahoma State lost to Iowa State," Gundy said. "If I was doing it fair, I don't know how I could put us in front of [Alabama] right now." -

I think it depends on HOW the coach is promoting this team. Some come of whinning about it instead stepping up about why his team should be in.enigmaax;997967 wrote:I always thought that reaction to a coach promoting his team was hilarious. And I do think Gundy was stupid saying what he did. I would have stated that Bama already had their shot at LSU, AT HOME to boot. Now its time for someone else to get a chance. -

I believe the perception of whining had more to do with a person's side of the fence than how he said it. Most coaches are passionate and matter-of-fact when they talk about their teams and I always found Meyer that way. There's no nonsense and in his mind at that time, it was nonsense to believe that Michigan should get in over Florida (he was right and not just because OSU and Michigan both ended up getting beat).centralbucksfan;997981 wrote:I think it depends on HOW the coach is promoting this team. Anyway, yeah, wtf Mike Gundy? I mean, if the coach of the team doesn't believe his team deserves it then why would any voters? It isn't like he doesn't have any ammo. The computers love Oklahoma State and the Big XII gets all the love there. Talk about the round robin in the conference and the good teams you beat. Talk about your freaking offense being like no other in the country. Why even talk about your vote that doesn't exist, just sell your team's accomplishments or something and let voters draw their own conclusions. -

SpeedofsandGundy really said that? And yeah, Meyer will speak up for OSU just like he did in '06 for Florida so I guess some of you are nothing but hypocrites again. If you're still not over the 41-14 butthurt you never will be.
