  I really don't think they "offered" the job to anyone but Kelly. They aren't that stupid. I really do feel like he was the only one they really considered but gauged the interest of guys like Stoops and Ferentz and Edsall, perhaps just to get a feel for how in-demand the job is.

  Lou Holtz's point was that Notre Dame should be favored to win every game outside of Southern Cal for the 2009 season. His mindset was correct. Obviously the defense sucked a fat one and that didn't happen. However, his point that Notre Dame had a tremendous opportunity to have a memorable season is absolutely correct.

  If you cannot see that Notre Dame possessed a wealth of talent and had a fantastic opportunity to do something special this season,then you are an idiot. But, we already knew you were. In fact you only exacerbate people's poor perception of you every time you click to post.
  
  Notre Dame fell flat on their face this season, defensively speaking. Young talent on the defensive line and in the linebacker corp coupled with slow veteran linebackers and defensive backs cost them a realistic shot at a 12-0 season.
